I don't know why this series got so much hate. It's just a decent harem anime about the LN industry. Think Bakuman. I suppose it's the incest but if you've been watching anime for long, you've already get used to it. Besides, Sagiri's design is very cute and is actually an improvement over Kirino. A far mile better than the likes of Suguha, which feels terribly forced. There's also the lolicon issue but again, if you've been watching anime for long you should already get used to the trope.

Sagir's relationship with his brother is the strong point of the show, I think. There's also the ... LN industry part which can get amusing at parts, albeit obviously exaggerated for comedy effect.

I don't think it's good, but it's decent enough to provide some entertainment. Unlike some other shows out there.

And hey, it gives a lot of cute artwork of Sagiri on Pixiv, so there's that benefit too.

For a 6 minute music video, it's pretty good at telling its story. You can really feel the loneliness and the impending doom on the second half. Its animation is gorgeous and the music itself is pretty good. Those shots with the giant planet inching closer and closer to Earth are really impressive. And the story of Rin's separation with her father is really touching.

It's a supreme exercise in how to tell a story in a short period of time. Dunno why that 1/10 review gets the most upvotes. Maybe because of the whole "it's not an anime" thing?

Proof that the west and Japan can ... cooperate to make a good anime.

It's pretty enjoyable, if you don't think too hard about it. Music is pretty dope, plot is okay, characters are your usual SAO characters, the whole AR theme is pretty nice. Villain is pretty meh. At least it's not Laughing Coffins again.

Reki had a pretty good thing going with the "Asuna lost her memories" plot. That diary scene was actually pretty powerful. Shame in the end the conclusion is kinda nonsensical. It really is just like him to drop the ball like that.

Now just waiting for Alicization adaptation. I imagine Kirito x Asuna fans, after being spoiled by this movie, will be pretty mad about ... the plot in that.

I came not expecting that much, just watching it because it aired in my country. I never really watched Shinkai's other movies and all I knew about him was that he made the same movies over and over again. Love, separation, near-misses, and all that. But hoo boy I wasn't expecting that I would be truly taken into his wild ride. I ended up really cheering for the protagonists, hoping that everything would end up all right. Especially knowing that Shinkai loved his bittersweet/sad endings.

And thank God it did, or else I would have to lower my score just for out of the sheer rage ... I would feel.

Bravo. Never before I cared this much about a romance story.

Oh boy, oh boy, where do I even begin?

First of all, people love the fact that the modern army curbstomps the fantasy army. Logical? Perhaps. You can easily make it logical by downplaying the magic element the fantasy side has, like this series do. Magic is fiction after all.

However, we have a problem if we're going down that route. First of all, the modern army is the good guys here. It's fine if the modern army is the bad guys. It can be a story about the fantasy side losing and then slowly finding ways to hit back by researching new magic. Finding ways to ... creatively use the magic they have. Unfortunately, it's the opposite. The fantasy side is bad guy, full of slavers (the most overused method in fantasy LNs to portray fantasy folks as bad guys) and bloodthirsty conquerors. And thus we have the modern side playing heroes as they gun down the inferior medieval era barbarians. And for some reason, for some people this is a really riveting thing. But for me, it's just sad.

Fine, perhaps the evul fantasy folks are outgunned. But surely, they can compete in the match of wits, right? Well, nope. Their wits are only there to feel awed against the overwhelming might of the modern army. The villains are all SAO-tier bad. Heck, I take that back. SAO actually has Quinella, which was decent with her evilness. This? Just a bunch of caricatures to be punched down by our heroes.

You know what this lopsided situation reminds me of? Those terrible Naruto fanfics at FF.net where Naruto gains OP powers out of nowhere and steamrolls his enemies. And what a surprise, those have their own audience too.

Fine, perhaps the conflict isn't interesting at all. But surely the characters will carry the show, right? Ahahahahaha, no. They're written terribly too. No interesting inter-character conflict and no likeable character. They're your generic harem tier characters.

So, what else is there? Well, some folks argue this show is about the "culture clash". Well, sure, they are some "culture clash", but it consists of the modern folks complaining about the fantasy folks being jerks and the fantasy folks being awed at the modern folks. Truly a riveting societal tale.

Oh, and about the portrayal of foreigners in this? Cute. Japan still got a long way to go until it lost its xenophobia. There's also the negative portrayal of Japan politicians as bumbling idiots, which eerily reminds me on how the military usurped control from the government in WW2 before they went on their crusade to "liberate" their supposed Asian brothers from Western colonialism.

Overall, this is a disappointing story. The more I read the manga, the more I realized the story isn't going to get any better.

I might as well read something that is already good from the beginning.

Boring, boring, boring.

The author seems to be aiming for some sort of slice-of-life, but with characters this bland, it ain't gonna work in a thousand years.

And the MC solves the problems of the people around her too easily, a disease that sadly infects this whole reincarnation genre.

In short, it's just mediocre. Not as bad as other stories in this genre, but can be never called good.
