I came into Sakamoto Days with high expectations, mainly because of all the hype surrounding it before release. Now that I’ve watched up to episode 8, I can’t help but feel... underwhelmed.
Story – Nothing New
The premise isn’t exactly unique—retired assassins making a comeback is something we’ve seen before. While Sakamoto Days does try to mix action with comedy, it doesn’t feel fresh or exciting. Maybe if I weren’t already familiar with similar setups, I’d enjoy it more. But as it stands, the plot is predictable, and there’s nothing that really keeps me invested.
Animation – Just Okay
The studio didn’t exactly deliver on what fans hoped for.

While the main plot of the anime finally took off in the last five episodes, where I felt those dark, intense vibes reminiscent of the first season, the rest of the episodes felt like a big, juicy filler arc. This theater event arc was clearly meant for character development, but it felt tedious and slow-paced. For anyone eager to continue the gripping storyline of season one, I’d recommend skipping straight to episode nine.
