Been a fan of Shadowverse since the beta so it's been more than 4 years playing it on and off, so I kept watching the anime up to it's latest episode and I have to say I've got mixed feelings on this one and it's not good. I enjoyed it at least with battles every episode and a new card introduction too(I seriously love new cards), the animation is seriously top notched and art style is really bright colored but it feels so off from my image of shadowverse which is more mature and dark.
Even though I'm enjoying it, the majority of people are pissed
...
at it especially fans of the game. The story tempo is rushed because they wanted to slip in a battle every episode and character progression is so shallow it's a shame. The main character is annoying because of his naive attitude towards the game and he still hasn't taste defeat yet which is insulting, the rest of the characters were at least bearable.
So I thought this game would be targeted at newcomers especially kids since it's definitely not aimed at fans of the game but nope. They missed a crucial "how to play" episode leaving newcomers not knowing what's going on in the battle. The stuff mentioned in the tutorial of the game is never mentioned in the anime for something so simple.
In the end the only people who can enjoy this are fans of the game who can appreciate the little things instead of being salty all the time. It saddens me how my favorite game turns out this way. I sincerely hope from the bottom of my heart, that this anime can evolve from this crap and that the protagonist would someday lose and finally fall to the dark side and then this will become Shadowverse! Cringey? Yeah watever.
