I'm going to refer to this season as Tokyo Ghoul 3, but by doing so I also feel like im doing something unjust.
This season is barely anything alike the first 2 entries, which were very closely tied in terms of quality. A lot of people dislike the fact of how season 2 diverted from its source material, but the divergence certainly doesn't leave a bad taste after watching. More importantly, I believe that an anime adaptation does NOT have to do "Justice" to the source material. It's important for me personally to think this way since there are a lot of garbage mangas which could
...
potentially have a great anime adaptation if pacing, scenes and in some cases the entire story is tweaked. Consecutively, the adaptation for Tokyo Ghoul 2 tied up the story and could've ended there quite neatly, it didn't really leave a big gap for a direct sequel but ended on a strong note instead.
Tokyo Ghoul 3 does leave a bad taste however. Regardless of how it follows the manga, this series does not live up to the standards of the first 2 entires. The pacing is all over the place, Animation goes from garbage to mediocre and art is inconsistent in quality between characters. It's so inconsistent that I barely know what the actual plot is about, but that might be a bad way to put it.
It's more accurate to say "The script for what has happened the 8 episodes I've watched has been complete shit."
Let me expand on a few details to further my point.
The first 2 entries gave us a hint about "Power level", which is essential to any series with a limited amount of relevant characters where the main plot is a conflict which results in battles. The "owl" was feared by the CCG for being powerful, and his power (albeit weaker) was properly shown in the 2 fights he participated in. The MC grew in power over the course of the series as he would've in most shounen, and we could "kind of" tell how powerful he was by the end considering his fight with Amon.
In the new entry, powerlevel barely matters, plot armor without justification decides if a character wins or loses and instead of individualizing characters they introduce new concepts of kagune "Detached", and introduce some new pseudo owl and super powerful previously never mentioned investigators. On top of all that, most characters from the previous entries have had both their personalities and looks completely altered.
I got the assumption that the "owl" was a unique ghoul, such as "rabbit" or "eye-patch", a name created from either how they looked or the mask they used. The new owl was apparently "Created" the same way kaneki was, and looks like a corpse with a cowl, small as a human and not even resembling what was previously called "The Owl".
The rankings for ghouls have also been inflated for some reason, Nishiki is an "SS rated" ghoul who is beat up instantaneously by Kaneki "SS" for something like comedic relief in the first episode.
The last nail in the coffin is the way kagunes look. Unless they are from specific previously existing characters, they all look precisely the same as one another.
That about sums it up. The show is not AWFUL, but instead of competing with "7.85 shows" on MAL, it sits at a very low 7 or high 6, all things considered.

Let's start at the beginning.
Overlord S1 was a decent success of a show in my opinion. The stage was set with systems for how the world and specifically the main character Momonga and his magic works, many diverse and interesting characters and an unknown world, with the "goal" being quite vague apart from safeguarding and expanding the base, nazarick.
The ending few episodes of S1 hints at what will continue in s2, but what greets us is...
Now let's start with Season 2.
We have all that knowledge and expectations of what kind of story to expect from the first season, but we are instead greeted into the
...
tale of the lizardmen.
It's like a complete separate story not heavily tied to the world of Overlord, where the main character isn't even directly involved. The characters are dull and the end can be seen from a mile away. The objective with the arc is pretty unclear to the entirety of the story, but it can be summarized as the incentive being experimentation from the MC.
For some reason the artstyle of the lizards, especially the colors and sharp lines are horrible and look pretty cheap, which is a major part of why I disliked the first part of this season.
The second part of the season is what I would like to call "the real start" of the second season, due to how it lines up nicely with the ending of season 1.
I only have one major gripe with this part, and that is the character "Climb".
Climb is a character who really doesn't fit in - This specific type of character is a mix between a "pathetic MC" and a "tryhard guy of the class" kind of character, in the sense that he always loses, always tries the hardest but will never be good. Normally this type of character is the MC himself, and is seen in comedy shows. It really does not fit in here, and the story could have done well without him. Another notable feature about Climb is his voice, especially the tone of his voice - it's unbelievably annoying.
Apart from this, the second part of the season delivers to a degree what you would expect from having watched season 1, apart from the fact that the main character is still mostly absent.
Another major flaw present throughout the season is how stale the dialogue is. There is no fluidity in speech and characters basically take chess-like turns in speaking. The villain introduction in the end of ep 9 is something that low-quality shounen anime/manga does. It's really awkward to have the "big villain" (who will be present for a mazimum of 4 episodes) do the introduction of all the villain characters and on top of that call them out one by one and name their full titles in a monologue only for the sake of introducing them.
I don't know where exactly to put this at - The first half is irrelevant, a pointless character with a lot of focus in the second half and the MC is MIA for 9 full episodes save for a few quick glances.
From what i've written so far this would seem like a bad show to watch, which is not entirely true. Overlord II is just a bit out of place in terms of the story, and does not live up to the first season. Overall I rate this as a 6, with some minor potential for growth as we are still in mid-arc.

Dokgo's story is set in the same universe as a few other stories written by the same author. The stories are Dokgo, Tong and Blood Rain, all of which have the same artstyle and are pretty much about the same thing - violence.
Violence is the main theme of Dokgo, but more than just one definition of violence it shows many kinds of ways to how it can be used. Some keywords to as what words pop up in your head whilst reading Dokgo are Power, Subordinance through fear/respect, Anger and revenge.
The artstyle of Dokgo is very characteristic. It's very simplistic, unrefined and has dull colors
...
to match it. A major drawback of this artstyle is the limitations of using it. This means that many faces become very similar whenever 2 characters have similar hairstyles. This wasn't too much of a problem in Dokgo as it was in Tong due to the low number of distinguishable characters.
The story is great, a righteous and smart but naive older twin-brother who got murdered is being avenged by his younger brother - with the method the younger brother knows best. The goal is very tangible as this is a realistic story. The entire story takes place within one city primarily in a school or close by.
What's interesting about the main character Kang Hyuk (Dokgo) is that he plans out his moves and measures his opponents as to not make any mistakes. He shows that the only powerful thing about him is not only his ridiculous fighting power, but rather that his head is sharp and that he has experience. Hyuk is very perceptive when it comes to people, noticing inconsistencies in their behaviour when they're under pressure. He also shows that he's someone to be respected through his actions rather than feared.
The main protagonist plays the role of the "king who seeks confirmation". A character seldomly used to this extent, but who always plays the role of the accomplished, smart ruler who never stops trying to advance further. This can be seen where he wants to fight Dokgo but doesn't get to (Why does he want to fight Dokgo?), it can be seen when he's planning to take Kang Hu down by sending a few guys at once, rather than destroying him from the start, and finally when he tries to make a devilish scheme towards the end by putting Dokgo in a situation where he has multiple choices that all rely on sacrificing something.
Overall Dokgo is a great manwha, but it's definitely not for everyone. It has setbacks in its artstyle, and some characters do get overlooked a bit too much.

MAL has words to match the numbers when putting up a score, but I haven't figured out if Dreadful (2) is worse than Pathetic (1) yet - This summarizes the rest of this review.
To put it short, DM (shortened for the show) is an Isekai, meaning that the story takes place in a "new" world rather than just having a different universal setting. There are a few Isekai animes already out, and even more mangas not yet adapted. Short story Shorter; The plot of most of the Isekai stories can be summarized to "Guy somehow ends up in another world. The other world is a
...
fantasy world where anything from tolkien to new inventions will show up. The guy "searches for a way to get back" but never tries, and merely goes about "exploring the world" until the author runs out of ideas.
Simply put, if well done these stories could sometimes be entertaining, I don't have anything against them and I do enjoy a few of them; RE:monster for example.
The story of DM however is.. pathetic. "A guy overworks himself, dies, ends up in a fantasy world where he instantly gets OP up until "lvl 300" or something by killing a bunch of lvl 50 lizards (Whoa). He sets off to explore the world and eventually get back home, but will only end up collecting a harem of underage girls." - If this is what you're after storywise, I won't call you stupid for being so; This kind of story appeals to quite a lot of people, and even though i'm personally not a fan and the "plot" can be completely described within those 4.5 lines, I shouldn't judge anyone for liking it. When I read this manga I got bored of it due to being passive, but considering that I'm laughing at the quality of the anime it proves enough to me that the story itself isn't the MOST pressing issue I had with it.
The art is horrible, low-quality blurry stillframe pictures for minutes per episode, many angles are wrong, faces look different from the same angles in different scenes, I can go on.
I'll also mention that the animating used for everything is as cheap as it gets.
The musc is just low quality, it doesn't match anything.
Voice acting isn't awful save for the MC and the elf guy, but the lines are.. bad. The script is simply awful.
Every character in this show is monotone, but that's nothing you shouldn't expect from after having read my opinion of the story. Having monotone characters are sometimes a good thing, character progression is only needed for a few characters in most shows and when emphasized it often ruins the quality, but having no character diversity or progression tells me that the script is awful.
To summarize all this yet again, this show has no highlights - it might appeal somewhat to some people for what it sets out to be, but the presentation is too bad to be praised. Personally I don't like the story very much, the script (The character lines) are edgy and unnatural, the art is low quality (low production cost), the intro, outro, SFX and "OST"s are low quality (low production cost) and the characters are way too bland and badly animated to make for even an acceptable harem (if you're into that).
I will however give this show a 2 in overall ranking since I enjoyed some laughs in the animation used for the ants flying into the barrier in ep6.
I decided a few weeks ago to watch this to the end just so that I could see how bad it would progress, and I will keep to that decision, but don't follow in my footsteps since this is a bad practise and may hurt your future unless you're hardened enough.

Gamers! is an anime which presumably would be centered around games and as the name suggests; its' players.
The first episode(s) are actually rather solid, apart from character introductions we see a clubroom and some popular modern games being played. After this point, the story completely derails. The characters of the club room after forgotten about, the "gaming" concept that the title suggests is stomped upon and moved to second or even third priority.
At this point we are stuck in a loop of stupid characters, childish romance and "misunderstandings". It's basically become reliant on overused tropes with characters having any sense of rationality as to
...
be "living" removed from them and made into subdued puppets with one specific unchanging personality trait remaining.
What I want to say with this is 2 things:
1: The writer of the LN ran out of ideas of how to progress his plot after the introduction stage OR the adaptation of it just forgot which parts were important of progressing a story past the introduction and instead focused on "popular gags".
2: The romance theme that became 1st priority is of childish quality, and anything that is "gaming" related or story related is instead turned into a tool to drive that romance genre forward in one way or another.
Don't get me wrong on my opinions of "How I think this show should have been", I don't really care if it's about games or romance, but it's currently too warped to be either believable or enjoyable for any of the factions (unless you're tired, bored, or just want to see anime girls).

Blame!: Movie
I watched Blame!: Movie without having read the manga, so this review is based on my experience of having watched the movie as a stand-alone movie, rather than being influenced on what it missed out on in terms of content.
My experience with this movie can be captured in one word - Suspense.
We learn that in this movie, the environment is harsh, food is scarce and people can die or get fatally hurt casually in the movie, and the supposed drama of most deaths can be changed out to the line: "it was an investment into our future" .
In my eyes, this movie actually
...
resembles a video game: Metro 2033. They are both set in the future, mankind is split up, monsters/machines are prowling and hunting down humans, and we don't get to know much more about the world than we see through the characters' eyes.
The setting of the movie is a very futuristic one, year xxxx(x?) where mankind may have been put close to extinction by their own hands in the form of technological advancement, an autonomous AI system. The system seeks out and kills any humans who do not have a specific gene, a gene that is nowadays a legend that few know of. In other words, the system that mankind created to safeguard and help them, now treats everyone as an illegal citizen of the "city" which is the world we are presented to.
The animation very closely resemblances that of both Ajin and Knights of Sidonia (same studio, KoS and Blame also has the same authors for the manga).
While I say that the animation is similar to that of both Ajin and KoS, the art itself much more resembles that of KoS due to them sharing the same author. The art in Blame!: Movie looks like an upgraded version of KoS, with characters being more diverse, the equipment quality and background art being more detailed. The mysterious characters Killy and Cibo both have very high art quality.
The characters in this show are good for the most part, previously mentioned Killy is a mysterious character who acts the part too. He speaks seldomly, very briefly and seems to have problems interacting with people even though he acts to protect and help them several times. He tells us that he is a human, however it is very apparent that there is more to it than that. His eyes and supernatural strength are merely 2 examples of this.
My favorite character of the movie would be the village chief. He's a rational man who can take risks, always acts with a goal in mind and has the intention of winning. He looks out for his villagers in a way that a chief would, and is deeply respected by them in turn. The reason why I like him is that he never breaks character and is always upfront and honest with his dialogue.
A thing that this show did well with the characters was to not reveal too much, and it doesn't allow us to relax amongst Killy and Cibo, since we don't get to know their true intentions.
Now what did I think of the movie as a whole?
I think that it displayed very well things that were "abnormal" but never went into depth, leaving the viewer with a feeling of suspense as to what will happen.
It showed the urgency of the situation, the village population was declining, the food supplies were running dry, but most importantly: it repeatedly told us that their equipment was vital for their survival but they had a very limited amount of it, and it was all very believable and well displayed.
What I didn't like about the movie was the character Tae. In the factory she makes a mistake which can't really be explained as more than a plot reason, and how the "infection" works is something that could have been.. better explained.
The sound quality is top notch, everything from weapon sounds to metallical clank sounds and electronical sparkling etc is original and well done.
The OSTs are amazing and unlike a movie like the recent Gantz:O it's diverse and not only "11th hour" music.
The VAs can sound a bit strange, and that's actually due to an interesting reason: a lot of them using the same voices as for many other popular shows' MC or other important characters, and the "age" of the voices don't always match the characters. An example would be Atsuji, who shares VA with AoT's Eren, and he definitely looks older than the voice he uses sounds like.
I thought this was a great movie, and I believe it's worth a 9 as a standalone on my list.

Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records by studio LIDENFILMS is based on a Light Novel of the same title as well as a manga, both of which are still publishing.
Setting/Plot/Story 7
The show takes place in a fantasy world, where magic is a thing and primarily taught and used due to its military strength.
The story so far has taken place at the best magic academy of the kingdom, where our MC is just about to teach a class of students to become the best of the best in terms of magi.. that's not how it begins though - since our MC starts of as a very
...
laid back guy.
The way magic looks and works in this world is pretty similar to many other shows in that it's magic circle, a chant and a boom. However the difference this show has is that they put a twist on the chants themselves - For a student in magic, casting a spell using a slightly different set of words or versing will cause the spell to have some kind of side effect, and at the same time, a master of magic can cast a spell with only a single word achieving its' full effect. We learn that magic is something that isn't created by the chant itself, rather that the chant is what makes you focus on the "correct..things" to cast the spell.
Our MC has some kind of special magic called "original magic", which is a sort of magic he himself has created that can only be used by him. Original magic is described as something very complicated, however our MC tells us that the magic that they call elementary was also once called original magic, someone had also come up with the spells after all.
We also get to see a castle floating in the sky, but we have no idea what it implies to the story so far, more than that sistine wants to go there.
Art/Animation 7
The art in this show falls in the generic category, much thanks to its setting and the colors used. That is not to say that the art is bad. It is easy to see that most of the effort went into Rumia, Sistine and Celica, Glenn is very bland (He also needs to look bland for the show to use its comedy) and the whole class as well as the bad guys we've seen so far look very normal, much like "extras". The worst part I noticed was that the focus of the characters' eyes were sometimes off target, did the creator not know how to draw well in different angles?
Sound: 7
The OP is a Jrock track "Blow Out" and the ED a Jpop track "Precious You".
The character VAs are all good with one exception - I really don't like the VA they chose for Re=L.
Characters: 5
It is very easy to notice that this is based on a light novel due to the characters. While at first glance they leave a good impression both visually and personalities, however.. the main characters all leave things to be desired when more heavily interacted with. There is very little sign of actual character development more than having a bit of backstory and flashbacks, which I don't consider to be real character development, since there are better ways to go about it.
The only real character development can be seen in the first episodes regarding our MC, to how he changes his attitude toward teaching.
The MC is the kind of MC who "seems useless" to the stupid characters, but always shows up and delivers when needed. He's kind of a grown up tropelord MC from highschool romcom animes in the sense that he gives off the same vibes but has seen all those clichés before and will deliver their opposites every time when encountered.
Rumia - Extremely nice.. Extremely nice.. Always nice.. ... .... ...
Sistine - *Hmph..* *Hmph..* *Hmph..*.... Actually a nice girl, who would've thought?
Celica - The STRONGEST mage alive, can shoot laser beams 2m in diameter, but just turns out to be... completely powerless and not available in every situation they encounter.
Enjoyment: 8
This show delivers 2 things quite well:
The first is how quirky the magic is, the "limitless possibilities" and how they can use those quirks to win fights etc.
The second part is its above average comedy. I really wish they would have focused a bit more on the comedy rather than the forced "feelings" the characters are supposed to have. When characters just start loving MC for no reason, the characters become really stale, and the show becomes hard to watch. The good thing about how they did it is: Our MC is an adult! Which means he can actually notice girls with the "love mc complex" and make fun of them rather than "not notice" and keep the episodes awkwardly boring.
Overall: 7.3
It's not a particularly interesting plot or setting. The art&animation is pretty good, and the characters can be a mess at times.
I've enjoyed this show up until now, but I doubt that it will get much better, or have a good finale.
7.3 for average, but worth a watch.

Shuumatsu Nani Shite.... SukaSuka.
SukaSuka could be called one of spring 2017's dark horse shows, and it's mostly due to its' well done execution.
I've not read the LN so I'm unaware of future events.
Story: 9
The story this show tells could be seen as quite generic in a way. We have our clear MC together with a bunch of young "supergirls" who defend their world against monsters who wiped out humanity. In this sense, it's quite similar to shows like Owari no Seraph.
What makes this stand out is the mean pacing and relentlesness of the events, trying to make the viewer sit on edge while watching,
...
in other words peaking our interests. It's worth to note that we have yet to have had any real-time casualties so far, but there are many deathflags around a few characters.
We also learn our characters' powers and their limits, as well as their personalities and glimpses at their backstories in a fluid way, which tells me that the author knew what he was doing and it was adapted very well.
It looks as if this anime will have 12 episodes according to a reddit post, so the plot will definitely start speeding up soon, however I am a bit worried about what potential it can reach with only 12 episodes and this plot.
Art/Animation: 7
This is probably the weakest part of this show. both the base quality of the art as well as the adapted animation to it are "outdated", and by that I mean: The character art is pretty similar to how characters looked 10 years back in anime, and the studio adapting it did not improve much from how it would really have looked if it was done 10 years ago.
The animal-human extras look quite awful for the most part, which is a shame.
Sound: 8
Both the OP/ED are quite decent, a variety of OSTs, and the OSTs also play at the correct moments, which is a big plus for effect.
Voice acting is good, sound effects are all good so far, e.g. the sword swings in ep3 actually sounds like "we want them to" unlike... Berserk2016+17.
Overall it's solid sound quality, but it's not exceptional.
Character: 9
Another strong part of this show just like with the story - the characters.
The characters often makes a show rise or drop, since they are directly connected to how far you can go with the story, and also decides how well you can understand the plot.
A few characters of note:
MC - Willem: A man who once lost everything as well as almost his own life, brought back to life after being found in a deep frozen state. We know that he can use the talisman weapons and superpowers and also that he was fighting to save the world, but now after being revived he pays the blood price for using his powers.
The rest of the main cast are quite hard to describe, at the current stage of the show we've yet to see all characters or any real antagonist other than "the monsters".
Extras + Sidestory?: Man/animal citizens - this is what drags the 10 off from the character department, they're just TOO dull and the design too bland to match the rest of the quality characters.
Enjoyment: 9
As I mentioned previously, this show keeps you interested while watching. It has excellent cliffhangers so far so you feel urged to watch the next episode.
The only problem I have with it are the extra characters as well as art/animation quality - to say the least, i'm even surprised I picked the series up after having watched the front page picture.
Overall: 8
A solid way to waste your time! Could recommend to most people.
Will update this review in the future.
Overall score is does not represent the rankings of its' individual attributes, This is the score I think this show can reach on MAL as well as for me personally if the continuing episodes are as good as the previous ones.

DanMach Gaiden - Sword Oratoria is a japanese anime produced by studio J.C. Staff and is based on a Light Novel of the same title.
This is a side story of the original DanMachi, and this review will contain comparisons from the original show, meaning that I presume the reader has watched it.
Story: 5
The story revolves around... What does the story really revolve around? Our original thoughts about the show was that it would be about Aiz and see things from her perspective, but this is not true for the most part.
We instead follow an array of characters through an array of events, and some
...
of them are the exact same events and frames that were used in the original.
The show can basically be summarized into 5 points:
"The main plot" being something mysterious with wild plant monsters.
Aiz' backstory or something similar.
Lefiya getting stronger mentally.
Shared frames to original to show where the show is on the timeline.
Fanservice.
The first 3 are obviously the main plot, while the second 2 are pretty much filler material.
Nothing stands out as exceptional, and quite a bit of it is low quality.
Art+Animation 5
The animation in this show is pretty generic, ranging from character design to monsters and ambience. While it's not terrible in any way, it's definitely not good, and this is year 2017 - if the animation is bad, other parts DEFINITELY have to make up for it. Onihei is a decent example for this.
If anything, the art has declined from the original, pointing at a question: Is the budget for this show lower than for the original one?
Sound: 5
The sound is pretty similar to the art/animation. There are no impressive OSTs, and the OP/ED are both quite bland. There is nothing wrong with character voices, the characters are just not interesting enough to really be able to call it more than decent.
I have to lower the score a bit more due to how badly composed the OSTs are, especially in and between fight scenes.
Character: 4
Here's a core problem of the show. The original story had most of our current "main crew" as situational SUPPORT characters who showed up in a couple episodes. The only above average characters we currently have are Aiz and Loki, but since they don't receive the screentime of a "real MC", they don't pave the path for this show either.
The design for our "main crew" is very fitting for the word support characters. Lefiya (MC?) is a completely useless character who will probably save the day in a future episode, the problem is that: Bell Cranel from S1 had the vibes and screentime of a REAL MC even if he wasn't too great. Lefiya does NOT have any of these traits, and feels more like a target for future plot armor.
Enjoyment: 5
I would originally have posted a worse score here, but the last part of Ep4 caught me slightly by surprise, I will have to keep looking and see if they progress it into something good.
1 good or interesting scene is not enough to instantly sway me on my score, especially since EVERY SINGLE SCENE prior to this has been low in quality.
Overall: 6.8
Although the overall score definitely does not add up to the other numbers, this is the "value" of this show if compared to other scores on MAL.
The show definitely beats everything around 5-6.5, which means that giving it a ranking according to my scores for its' attributes would be unfair. It would also be unfair to give this show higher rankings for its' content than it deserves, thus I only raised the overall ranking.
Is it worth a watch? I don't know yet.
Should I watch this if I haven't watched the original? - I believe the original beats this in quality, so watch that INSTEAD.
Will update this review at 8/12 episodes.

Quan Zhi Gao Shou - Full Time Expert, The King's Avatar is a chinese adaptation of the Manhua of the same title, which is also an adaptation of a Light Novel of the same title.
The language used in this is chinese, which can make it hard to understand, offputting as well as subtitle quality/availability fairly limited. It can also be a breath of fresh air since it sounds very differently.
I'll use the word Anime rather than "chinese cartoon" due to ease.
I will review and score this while only looking directly at the anime itself (At its' current stage!), but I might add notes regarding both
...
the manhua and the LN. The story will be clarified a bit more for understanding of our MC.
Story: 7
We learn that the MMORPG Glory is an extremely popular game. This game as an incredibly popular pro-scene where there are 20 teams belonging to the Glory Professional Alliance (GPA). It's quite similar to LoL's LCS where the lowest teams get relegated, and the top teams go to playoffs and the champion is decided.
Our main character - Ye Xiu(Ye Qiu) is pretty much the GOD of the game. He's been playing the game ever since its' release and has been in the team Excellent Era since the beginning of the GPA. He has since then won 3 consecutive championships with the team, but the team performance also declined greatly greatly until we reach the "current".
Apart from the MAL synopsis, the story pretty much revolves around Ye Xiu, showing his skills and his knowledge of the game as he plays his unique character build and gathers players with high potential to play with and teach. During his levelling, he also needs an extreme amount of materials to upgrade his weapon with, and takes advantage of his own skill to sell his services expensively to all the rich great guilds, as well as punish those who oppose him.
The story is a bit rushed, we see mere seconds of scenes that should maybe have been given a full minute to fully catch the author's intent.
Art: 10
The art in this show is top-notch. The CGI used in it is actually very good.
The art quality can be seen clearly in the design of stuff that comes from the real world, e.g. their keyboards, or the whole netcafé design. Small details go a long way when it comes to quality.
Character art quality is excellent, ingame characters look quite similar to their players, and every cast character is well designed.
I know a lot of people dislike the use of recycled animation, but one has to remember that this is a game. Things SHOULD look the same or very similar. This is very apparent in the end of EP5 where he throws a goblin into the archers the same way he did in EP3. There are also a few reused frames such as Ye Xiu slowly turning around, but I wouldn't pick on that as a big minus. I also understand that saying that "It should look that way" due to it being a game is also wrong since it's probably tied to budget saving, but the pros outweigh the cons in this case. (BIAS)
Sound: 8
The OP/ED in this show are good, and the voice actors fit the character behaviour quite well. For example the high pitched voice of the chit-chatting Chen Guo, or the slightly uninterested voice of Ye Xiu himself.
The reason why I pick away a few points here are the quirky soundtracks that play at points throughout the episodes. They don't really fit in to the environment that well.
Characters: 8
This show has yet to show its' full splendor when it comes to characters, we have yet to see barely anything of the pro-scene teams who will be interacted with a bit more in the coming episodes.
Ye Xiu has also not shown his "Encyclopedia of Glory" and "Master tactician" titles to their full extent. It is most likely due to the time restrictions for how quickly paced they chose this show to be.
Then we have Steamed Bun Invasion. Such a fun character, very well adapted from the novel. It's clear that they put a lot of effort into his quirky behaviour rather than keeping the tone that the slow and calculated Ye Xiu sets.
A problem with this show is the lack of character development, as well as the time limitations in place for just this. Another small problem would be how stupidly characters like Tang Rou act - if you work at a netcafe with a boss who talks about Glory every single day, shouldn't you know at least a bit about the Glory pro scene?
Enjoyment: 10
This show is a blast to watch. Even though some soundtracks are a bit quirky, plot and characters not fully elaborated upon, the story not reaching its' potential for a while and many scenes obviously meant for pure "Preview material" and product placement, this show still caught me hands down. It's an enjoyable watch that shows a wide spread of characters. The characters are so different yet still blend together quite nicely. Ye Xiu sees potential in people, he sees both their strengths and weaknesses and it's fun to watch how he reacts when Steamed Bun Invasion does something stupid or Chen Guo scolds him.
Overall: 8.6
The thing I liked the most about the LN was the way that you could recognize the abilities they use. And in some way, the recycled e.g. gatling gun animations give a clear representation of that. In EP6 we see the same ability used multiple times in different shots and angles, and since we're used to seeing it repeated in a specific angle we now see the use of the same ability in a different manner. I look forward to if they would use the name of abilities to signify combo CC moves in the future rather than just 10 seconds of combat and an explosion.
While I really enjoy the show, I still fail to see just what it wants to show - a few examples of what I mean would be: MC OP? Teamwork? MC outsmarting everybody? They are all things that are very apparent in the LN, and so far we have only seen the MC being OP and a few tactical calls like he is buffing his team just by being there. Maybe it is too early in the show to see all of these things combined.
