Attack on Titan has always been my motivation, my first anime, it changed the way I thought and gave me a new goal to achieve. I could almost say that everything I am today is because of Attack on Titan. This is the series I loved with all my heart. I bought all chapters and volumes no matter how long they took to arrive and have the DVD of all seasons. But today, I want to burn them all.
From chapter 1 to 124 is peak fiction, greatest writing I've ever seen in all of literature. Featuring themes like slavery and racism.

It was perfect. Great characters, I found myself sympathizing with the enemies, that's how greatly written they were. Story was out of this world. Eren was a fine example of what war could do to a man, a man who kept losing his friends and families. Marvellous pacing. Amazing action. Great mysteries. Great character motivations. Everything is absolutely amazing, everything WAS absolutely amazing.
Then Isayama decided to go to fanfiction.net and took the worst story out of all from the catalog of dogshit, and adapted that. The one fanfiction with Levi and Erwin having gay sex had a better ending than this bullcrap, and I'm 20% homophobic ahahahaha. How does an idiot do this? I'm genuinely asking. How does a person fuck up so bad? How does a person who wrote chapters like 121, FUCK UP THIS BAD? Making one plot hole after another, not giving a shit about character consistency, not giving a shit about tonal consistency, not giving a shit about how the readers feel?
Isayama randomly forgot about what drives Eren as a character, and made him into the biggest betacuck loser I've seen in all of anime. I would've been fine with him losing the war to prove a point. But no, he just gambled the future of the people of Ymir because he felt like it, and turned into a fucking simp at the ending. He doesn't want Mikasa to be taken by someone else, and at the same time he distances himself from Mikasa, and at the same time he cries about how he wants to be with them. Then there's Armin with his "Listen up Minna!!" speech, popping out of nowhere to give people the most nonsensical speech and surprisingly everyone would listen to his ass. Then there's Reiner, who is the biggest cocksucker in the entire series. Everything he went through, Marcel's sacrifice and all that, amounted to him becoming a letter sniffing creep. And he is supposed to be Isayama's favourite character, what a pathetic joke. There was no consequences for his actions, neither was there for Annie's or Gabi's. The PTSD crybaby never achieved his peace neither received his consequences. Nice message Isayama.
Historia's pregnancy was the most useless sub-plot in the entirety of the story and amounted to absolutely NOTHING. She married some no-name bully from her childhood that used to throw rocks at her. Isayama gave me my favourite ship, Ymir and the abusive King Fritz. The only explanation we got for their love was "She likes her... because she likes her.. okay?? p.s he has a big cock"
I thought Attack on Titan was different than other shounen, it really knew how to write it's female characters, but I was a fucking fool. Their character arcs were downright insulting and trash. This proves how Isayama is no different from Kishomoto. I remember everyone praising Isayama, "He is such a great writer who knows how to properly write complex female characters in shounen without them relying on romance or sexualization" And to think this manga was praised as a great representation of female characters. What a fucking fool I was.
What was a story that stayed far away from topics like romance, became a fucking Shoujo manga in just ONE FUCKING CHAPTER. Forced character relationships that are supposed to make sense, how could people be happy with that?
Despite the endless possibilities for the outcome of this story, despite the divisive nature of the fandom, he managed to create an ending that literally everyone hates. What a remarkable feat from the biggest clown in all of manga industry.
Never has the ending of a story brought down the entire manga THIS bad. And I've watched Darling in the FranXX, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, Death Note, Future Diary, Erased.
I actually consider myself the one of the biggest Attack on Titan fan, I've never missed a convention and the opportunity to cosplay as my favourite scout, I never left the opportunity to advertise Attack on Titan to non-anime fans, I'm pretty sure I've gotten at least 50 people into Attack on Titan and anime, I've always dickrode Isayama and said that he deserves a Nobel Prize of Literature for his insane writing, I never left the chance to defend Attack on Titan. I re-watched all seasons at least 3 times and read onto Attack on Titan's lore to try and justify each and every single plot point of it, so no one could call it bad. I've found an amazing community online, wrote theories and predictions. And now, we're at this stage.
Just as I invited all my friends over to read the final chapter together, I started the chapter with a glimmer of hope, shiny eyes and a big smile on my face, as I was hoping that Isayama would pull one final twist to end everything perfectly, leaving no room for plot-holes, marking Attack on Titan as the best written Shounen in the history of anime, as I kept reading, my smile slowly turned into a frown. I'm dumping my rating systems because I don't care about anything anymore.
Now I'll take a break from anime and manga altogether. I'm not quitting forever, I just need to take a break. This series was everything to me. I have lost all taste, the food that I'm eating is literally tasteless to me, and no this isn't Corona, this is from the pure disappointment and disgust from chapter 139's writing. I temporarily quit.

Horimiya is one of the most anticipated adaption ever. After years, when everyone gave up on an adaption, there was an announcement. It might not be an exaggeration to say that Horimiya is Winter 2021 most anticipated anime right after SnK final season. After reading the manga for so many years, I was also happy to hear the news. Did it live up to my expectations? Yes.
Horimiya feels like it’s about to cross that line between a light-hearted rom-com and an over the top romance drama, but it never does, which is a good thing (A reference from the Oscar winning film, Parasite).

On one hand, we have stuff like overwhelming drama like White Album, on the other hand, we have Horimiya, which balances between drama and simplicity so elegantly. The simplicity of Horimiya is what makes it stand out from other rom-coms, and is part of the reason why the manga was crazy popular, long before the adaption.
Horimiya (Full title: Hori-san to Miyamura-kun) at first glance, might seem like the typical “Popular girl dates unpopular guy” story, but it isn’t. Kyoko Hori is a popular girl at her school, almost like an idol for students. Everyone looks up to her, this pushes a burden onto her, she always has to maintain her perfect-girl attitude in front of everyone else. After all, its the people around us who decide our social standing, not us. She has a side she doesn’t want to show to others. In one scene, a bunch of girls saw Hori near the supermarket, one of them exclaimed how she resembles Hori, but then they say that she was too ‘simple’ to be Hori. You can see the burden that is pushed onto her. It’s not easy being popular and act perfect when you are not. Hori only shows her simple and imperfect side to those she cares about a lot—like her family, her close friends like Yuki.
Miyamura on the other hand, is a gloomy student who barely converses with others. He can definitely pass off as a side character because he’s that unremarkable among students. In his flashbacks, we see Miyamura get bullied and ignored by his classmates, we also get to see him do his piercings by himself with a safety pin, side-by-side to those events. In this way, the act of piercing his ears comes as a response to the bullying. He also has tattoos on his body. So to hide all these features of him, he has grown shoulder length hair and wears a jacket, even in the hottest of days. He stands out among the other students in his school, but not in a good way.
One day, both Hori and Miyamura just happen to meet, but not under normal circumstances. Both of them show their hidden sides to each other. Miyamura happily accepts the real Hori, just like she accepts Miyamura. Thanks to Sota, their wingman, they spend a lot of time together and slowly starts developing feelings for each other.
The story is hardly remarkable at this point, so what is it that’s so good about Horimiya? The characters. I have to admit, the characters in this anime feel so much more genuine than I’ve seen in hundreds other rom-com. Horimiya is by far the most genuine feeling rom-com I’ve ever seen. The character interactions elevates this anime to another level. First off, the interaction between the quartet—Hori, Miyamura, Yoshikawa, Ishikawa, they feel so calming. There is a certain warm feeling in this anime, and it’s all thanks to the characters. It’s almost surprising how they can develop the side characters so well in an anime that focuses on two characters.
Yoshikawa is a character that hides her true feelings. She won’t tell people what she truly desires. As said by Hori, “The less she wants you to know she’s upset, the bigger she smiles”. True feelings can not always been shown, there are many circumstances to people. Ishikawa is a long time friend of Hori and Yuki, he is also becomes good friends with Miyamura. Though he’s one of the more simple characters, he cares about others a lot. When Yoshikawa tried to make cupcakes but it didn’t turn out well, Toru was poking fun at her, he happened to glance at her fingers and notice some bandages, which is proof how hard she tried to make those cupcakes. He immediately starts eating those, even though it looks inedible, he eats all of it, with a big smile on his face. There’s the student council president, Sengoku and Remi who have their own unique dynamic. He is with her because he thinks she’s weak and he likes the feeling like he can protect her. But actually, she isn’t weak at all. Remi lets him feel that way on purpose because she likes him so much. Kouno is also very insecure because she’s always with Remi, who’s like an idol at her school, similar to Hori. They are together so much, that some students call them “Beauty and the Beast” beauty referring to Remi, beast referring to Kouno. Similar to how Miyamura felt that he brought down Hori’s image by being with her so much, Kouno also feels the same.
Of course, not all the characters are good. There is Sawada, who’s the damsel in distress and cockblocks Miyamura for a few episodes. She’s annoying and doesn’t know the idea of personal space. She desperately forces herself into the cast and takes away screen time. There’s Yanagi, everyone pretends that he’s so hot and beautiful that in front of him, their own ugliness wants to make them puke. This whole bit with Yanagi is just not working at all and taking away the screen time.
The characters are definitely what makes Horimiya so great, but is that the only aspect of what makes this anime great? Definitely no.
CloverWorks is gaining a reputation because of their well directed anime. The Horimiya anime (much like Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a lesson in how to properly adapt a manga series. The anime’s direction, pacing and the excellent voice cast elevates every scene to the next levels. Ishisama is a great director who knows what he’s doing. The opening of Horimiya is possibly the most well-directed opening of Winter 2021. CloverWorks is quickly becoming one of my favourite studios. The camera work in this anime has been pleasant. Especially the moments of vulnerabilities, I was wondering how will they handle that, but it was handled amazingly. When the background goes white and vibrant watercolors shift their silhouettes, you know that they’ve given extra care to the more dramatic scenes of Horimiya. Horimiya is a treat, beautifully animated by CloverWorks.
The beautifully animated scenes, combined with the OSTs, especially during the dramatic scenes, the sound is yet another aspect Horimiya thrives at. Starting from the mesmerizing opening sequence, which perfectly fits Horimiya’s theme, to the unique ending sequence.
One other thing that I must separately mention is the dialogue delivery. This is one of the most important factors to me when I watch an anime. The dialogue delivery feels WAY TOO genuine. The casts are so talented because it is music to my ears. There is no girl who talks in a high pitched voice which is borderline annoying, even Remi talks in a normal way, I expected her to sound annoying. Dialogue delivery is definitely one of the thing I expect the anime to do well, since it doesn’t exist in manga. And Horimiya absolutely nailed it, starting from the conversations to how they were executed, all of it.
In summary, Horimiya is a satisfying adaption. Many people will find plenty of reasons to hate it, since even I admit that this isn't a perfect anime or something. For example, people might not like Hori's masochistic side or how he often hits Miyamura. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me. I am well aware of the fact that Hori is a bit violent in nature, but it is explained why, and it's not like she's the Tsundere from Zero no Tsukaima (An actual bitch), she admits her mistakes and admits how she knows she was wrong but she blames it on Miyamura anyways, she can't help it. Miyamura chose to accept that side of her, so who am I to judge what's good for him? Besides, S&M is getting more popular day by day among people, I'm here to watch anime, not to kinkshame anime characters.
After waiting for so long, I am nothing but happy to receive such a quality adaption. This definitely lives up to the manga. The manga ended weeks ago, and I was looking forward to the anime every week. This Winter season has been a pleasant ride, with a mix of almost everything, Horimiya takes the spot of the best rom-com. It adapts the starting few chapters, which is the glorious chapters of Horimiya, even in the manga, so naturally I enjoyed it to the fullest. This is as best as it gets, so if you didn’t like this, don’t go into another season or into the manga.
As for me, Horimiya is all I could ask from an adaption. Through ups and downs, the anime has proven itself with the stellar direction, well written and likeable characters, and an acceptable story. It definitely became one of my all time favourites. Since I have no Horimiya chapters to look forward to every month now, I’m gladly waiting for a second season :)

This season is a mix of half disappointment with half satisfaction. Half disappointment because the pacing has been absolutely terrible for more than half of the episodes, and half satisfaction because they redeemed everything with the last 2 episodes.
5 out of 12 episodes are Rimuru doing Rimuru things, just like in the previous season. And then, the story suddenly takes a 180. Half of the episodes are just boring. It’s so boring that the first few episodes feel like fillers. We should’ve gotten the entire Rimuru becoming Demon Lord thing way before, yet it took this many episodes. If you’ve read the manga

or the light novel, the pacing will be a huge issue to you. The biggest problem with this season is the terrible pacing. I don’t know what went wrong, but the pacing was so horrible, that even though I’ve read the manga once, I went back to re-read it.
Shion was killed in the process of all the chaos, but of course, she wasn’t killed because there ‘happens’ to be some way to bring her back. I think this death was completely meaningless if they were gonna be alive again through some kind of magic.
And of course, for some unknown reason, the anime decided to make Rimuru less badass than he was in the manga.
“In other words, because you valued your own pitiful life more you’ve decided to damn my people.”
This was the line that made me think that Rimuru finally had a change in his attitude, which of course, he didn’t. Because first, it was left out in the anime, second, moments after that he forgives Myulan. I don’t know why 8bit decided to do this, but it definitely wasn’t the right call.
And don’t you think that it’s a bit ironic, how Rimuru is apparently ‘merciless’ towards the soldier who marched on Tempest, but then again, he simply forgives Myulan. The soldiers were in worse position than Myulan, if they didn’t follow orders, their family back home might’ve been killed. Some of them weren’t even involved in the killing of Shion and others, some of them were simply following orders. But of course, Rimuru is allowed to mercilessly kill all of them. Why? Because they aren’t cute anime girls. Why did Rimuru forgive Myulan so easily, without literally ANY FORM of punishment? Well, because she’s a cute anime girl. Isn’t it rule no. 1 to never hurt a cute anime girl no matter what kind of evil shit they do?
And then the author tries to justify this shit cause by saying that he forgave Myulan because he needed Youm’s cooperation. It’s honestly such a laughable reason, I always get a big laugh when people try to defend Myulan or Rimuru for forgiving Myulan. Who cares about Youm? Who cares about Falmuth? Rimuru can be friends with Dwargon and all other countries while not giving a shit about what happens to Falmuth, but no, for some reason he needed Youm.
Even Gabiru is more useful and important that Youm. This guy literally fell in love with a woman he barely knows, after staying with her for a few days. He loves her so much that he can even go against his master that he knew longer than he knew Myulan. He loves her so much that he can lay down his life for her or atone for sins she committed. It’s almost like he’s never been with another woman. And yes there’s some other beastman which I don’t give a shit about, that also likes her and will lay down his life for her. So she got 2 people in her harem within a few god damn days.
Rimuru is the protagonist and the sole MC of this anime, yet side characters get more screen time than him. Good side characters like Benimaru and Souei barely get any screen time, side characters like Gabiru and Geld get too much screen time. The characters are a mess. The newly introduced ones are even worse, especially the antagonists. The antagonists are laughable. Every bad guy has a motivation or a goal, but these new antagonists don’t have any of them. The bad guys are terribly written, it came off as the author miserably trying to portray these bad guys as truly evil and annoying. Did the author succeed? Only partially. They are still horribly written. The king of Falmuth is a king, but he’s probably the most braindead character in the entire series. Almost makes you wonder, how did he become a king of an entire country?
The animation is an upgrade since last season. It’s probably the most impressive thing about this season. But yeah, it’s okay, it’s nothing impeccable or remarkable enough to talk about.
The soundtracks may be the second most redeeming thing, some time they decide to put some cool soundtrack over fights, which I can appreciate. Other than that, the opening is absolutely remarkable. It perfectly fits Tensura’s theme.
I admit, this season has been lackluster and final 2 episodes could only do much to save the entire anime. Every other episode, other than the final 2 episodes, felt unimaginably boring. There were less fights last season yet it managed to stay more interesting than this season. Since I’ve read ahead into the source, does it get any better? Yes, probably..? I can only hope that the next season won’t have this pacing.
Do we have something to look forward to? Yes, and that is Tensura Nikki. Unlike this season, Tensura Nikki will stay true to it’s core. If you want a wholesome, light-hearted side story, this is god damn it. Dare I say, it’s even better than the original. It feels less like a filler than the first 4 episodes of this season.
As for this season, since it still has those key elements of Tensura and also a proper plot that works.. somehow.. a 6.90 will be the most accurate rating I can give to this.

If you have watched anime for a while, you're already familiar with the term "Good trash". If you don't know what that is, Domestic na Kanojo, Eromanga-sensei, Monster Musume, and many other anime like that. This, is one of the "good trash" anime.
My score for this might be low, but this anime was surprisingly annoying and enjoyable at the same time.
Now, a little word of advice: Don't take the anime seriously at all, you'll regret it if you do. The story is just plain trash, once you realize the one big plothole in the anime, the story is instantly ruined. That's why I chose to

forget that the story exist.
Noir's power is so shit, he literally became a god. He has the power to edit anything, which includes anyone's skill, he can create skills, all these actions cost LP, LP is achieved when someone does sexy stuff with Noir like kissing or if something perverted happens with him, or if he is satisfied after eating a lot of food or getting reward.
The moment you realize that he can just use the edit or create skill to farm infinite LP and become a god, and free Olivia, the story is just ruined.
But who cares about story when they keep throwing boobs and ass at your face.
Now let's talk about the real 'plot', the boobs and ass. I'd be lying if I said I watched it for any other reason. I read the manga even before an anime was announced, I solely watched it for the nonsensical harem. After last week's traditional obligatory hot spring episode, I'm proud to say that the anime is successful at what it's doing.
The characters are amazing, they are very 'developed', but only the female ones if you know what I mean, especially Emma, she has magical boobs which bounces on their own.
Noir, on the other hand, is the worst character in the entire anime, he is full of shit. His voice is annoying to listen to, it sounds like a helium voice changer. He acts like a wimp all of the time, he's pathetic.
The animation is bad. The fight scenes are so bad, they're hilarious. Animation isn't good at all, except... The boobs and the ass. Yes, looks like the budget for this anime was low and they decided to pour all the budget into the boobs and ass, which was a wise decision.
The sound however, is extraordinary. No I'm not talking about the voice acting. I'm talking about the great ending sequence, which deserves a better anime, which is not this one. The opening sequence is good but not great.
Enjoyment? Yes, I enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed to it for every episode at least 2-3 times, I enjoyed it so much that I got tired and started sweating after a while. This was an enjoying anime.

After the ridiculous success of Demon Slayer, the shounen industry is finally taking notes on how to make a successful adaption. There's so many things that can be said about JJK, that I'm confused where to start from.
Let me start by giving JJK's staff the appreciation they deserve. Being a huge AoT fan, I'm honestly a little bit salty. I'm not undermining AoT, it's just that my eyes have been spoiled from seeing a sakuga on every damn episode of JJK. It's honestly just so good.
So yes, I'm gonna first highlight the sector which totally carries JJK, the animation. JJK is a feast for your

eyes. The animation is just so magnificent, starting from the beautiful landscapes to the sakuga on even the smallest fights. The fights are so well choreographed, the camera angles, the key frames. I don't have enough words to explain the greatness of the animation. You have to witness it for yourself. Just like how Demon Slayers impeccable animation by Ufotable carried it, in the same way JJK's animation by MAPPA definitely elevates the anime to another level. And without the elegant animation, I don't think JJK would be at where it's at right now. So MAPPA definitely needs credit where it's due, this is how you do a first season of an anime.
One other great thing about JJK is it's power system. If you're like me who absolutely loves a great power system, then you'll also fall in love with JJK's power system. JJK has a very concrete power system, which is cursed energy. Cursed energy kind of replicates Chakra from Naruto. Both needs a good amount of focus and training to achieve them. The only difference is that in Naruto, Chakra exists in all beings. However, in JJK, not everyone had cursed energy, like Maki, they use cursed tools instead which is also an interesting concept. The reason I love the power system is that it is not too complex neither is it too simple like, eat hair = I'm strong now. Yuuji imbues his hands with cursed energy, Nobara uses hammer and nails, Fushigoro summons cursed beasts, and Gojou can manipulate space at an atomic level. There's literally an old man who uses an electric guitar to fight, I fucking love this! This power system and the character's powers, all of them makes the anime even more amazing for me.
The characters are probably the second greatest part of the anime. Yuuji is such a good shounen protagonist, he isn't annoying and doesn't scream all the time, is quite care free. On the other hand, the other members of the MC trio are just so fun to watch, Fushigoro and Nobara both. I'd be lying if I said that it didn't remind me of Naruto a little bit. The fun little rivalry between Yuuji and Fushigoro, just like Naruto and Sasuke, except better. And isn't it a breath of fresh air, finally having a female MC that isn't annoying and absolutely useless. In episode 23, when Nobara was suddenly getting sucked into a gate, instead of screaming and crying for help, she just showed Fushigoro a thumbs up, saying that she'll be fine, like the badass she is! God I love the characters.
The character goals are really interesting, which also makes the characters, interesting. Yuuji isn't like other shounen nice guys who refuse to kill people like Deku, he has an actual reason to do that. He highly commends "the value of life". He also does good deeds because he wants to die peacefully and be remembered as a good person, quite a simple but respectable goal. Fushigoro is probably my second favourite character in JJK. He is very secretive and stoic, all while caring for his friends. In episode 23, we got to see a different side of him, and honestly he has so much depth to him. I normally hate female delinquent characters so much, I can't stand them as much as I can't stand Tsunderes. I hate how they go "Kimochi warui" after everything. But Nobara is different. She is very talkative during battles, verbally destroying the shit outta the opponent, all while being badass as fuck during all times. She also deeply cares about his friends, she is a great character. Not only this, but side characters like Panda, Maki, Inumaki. Every- again LITERALLY EVERY CHARACTER in this anime is so fucking good and interesting, even the antagonists like Sukuna and Mahito have a considerable amount of depth to them which everyone can comprehend, which makes them so good.
Let me tell you this, an entire paragraph isn't enough to explain how amazing and interesting the characters are.
The only part JJK is a bit lacking in is story. Since it's only season 1 and the story hasn't expanded much, but even still, the story is a bit generic. It feels like a typical monster of the week kind of story. Even the story is a bit average now, all other aspects carry this anime. And yes, the story switches tones really quick, it goes from a dark and gritty tone to a light hearted tone pretty fast. And the best part is that they perfectly execute it.
No one said that an anime must excel at all aspects. There was no boring moment in the entire anime, despite the story being typical, I always thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Juju Strolls are a perfect addition after the end of every episode, no matter how tense an episode is, the Juju Strolls are entertaining to watch.
Now about sound, it's amazing. The 2 opening sequences and ending sequences are all so amazing. Especially the amazing opening from Eve and the great ending from ALI. After that, there's the voice acting. Most people can't differentiate between good voice acting and bad voice acting, but I have noticed that a good amount of anime often fail at properly delivering dialogues. JJK's voice acting feels genuine and natural, so big props to the talented voice actors. Soundtrack is also quite lacking. It's not the best there is, but it works. Of course, I don't expect all anime to have Sawano level soundtracks.
Another thing that I need to separately mention are the eye catchers. If you don't know what eye catchers are, they are those intro type of clips that are often in the middle of an episode. JJK's eye catchers are so captivating, they have this horror-y feeling to it.
Now to sum it all up in one sentence: Jujutsu Kaisen is great.
JJK has to be one of the greatest new gen shounens. As for whether you should watch it or not- YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD. I don't always tell people so confidently to watch an anime. It is the start of a new era through Jujutsu Kaisen, and I'm damn interested to see where it's gonna go from here. See you all in the next season!

In a world where terrible humour is rampant and a Super Smash Bros rip-off is so popular that even the outgoing normies play it- cue Tomozaki, a lonely, introverted, outcast of the society. Uh oh, you know what that means right? He has all the qualities to be an epic gamer! Can't we all relate to that?
Out of all the tropes in anime, this trope of how the number one player of any popular game has to be an introverted sad freak who is unsuccessful in life and unable to fit in, is the worst trope ever. It's a dumb and illogical trope. Think about

it, if you're the number one player of a very popular game, are you really unsuccessful? Does it really mean that you have no talent and no one has a use for you? Ever heard of e-sports? Let's just say that there's no e-sports in the world of this anime. Even then it makes no sense. If a game is popular, then a lot of people are wasting their time on it, so obviously people are gonna hold the number one player of that game in some respect. Heck, he could even start teaching others how to get good at the game.
But no, if you're a number one player of a game, it means that you have no life and you can't fit in with other people.
Enough rants about gamers and gaming, I'm not a gamer but I just had to point out how dumb that trope is, since that trope is basically the base of this anime and Tomozaki as a character.
Before I begin the actual review, let me point it out that I'm reviewing this anime, not volume 69 of the novel. I know that there are a lot of light novel purists for this anime, that's why I wanted to remind them that I don't care about the light novel or what happens in the future story line.
The entire first season is just Aoi Hinami, the female MC, trying to teach Tomozaki basic human interaction knowledge, it's so fun isn't it! Instead of getting professional help, Tomozaki completes daily tasks given by Aoi Hinami. These tasks include forcing yourself to talk to another classmate for a few minutes, "messing" with another classmate at least three times and getting a girlfriend. Her idea is that this so called task system resembles a game and if Tomozaki hears the word "Game" he must get super horny, so that's why she keeps giving him all these tasks daily and increases the difficulty of the task day by day.
Every time Tomozaki can't do something, he'll say that he can't do that because he is a "bottom tier character". You can't get a girlfriend? Oh man you must be a bottom tier character. You don't have any friends? You must be a bottom tier character. Tomozaki's coping mechanism is so annoying, at one point I've had it with him. He thinks life is a game and whenever Hinami says that "Think of life as a game!" He gets all riled up, so riled up that he can do anything! Tomozaki is not a bottom tier character, he is more of a spectator because everything in the anime just happens and he just happens to be near those happenings, it's not like he does anything special other than making unfunny jokes which are not really jokes but everyone in the anime laughs anyways.
Here is literally a conversation taken right from the anime-
Mizusawa: You really are a hard worker. Aren't you Tomozaki?
Tomozaki: I'd say I'm more of a gamer.
Mizusawa: You are a funny guy
Tomozaki: That's not really a compliment
Misuzawa: It is!
That's literally one of the conversation. To Tomozaki, this is his idea of messing with someone. And surprisingly, the other character sees Tomozaki as a comedy god, not only that character but literally every other character laughs at these so called jokes that Tomozaki often makes (That I always seem to miss) and everyone starts laughing. If you want, you can ask me for those moments and I will show you a clip of it, you'll understand what I mean by "terrible humour". I can't stand Tomozaki, he's pain inducingly cringe. But hey, at least he gets better later.. right?
And now, we talk about the other MC of the anime, if you think Tomozaki is bad, boy oh boy, you haven't seen anything. Cue Aoi Hinami, a literal deity. She is the perfect human and according to Tomozaki, she is the number one player in the game of life. Let me explain- She's good looking, she is popular among her close friends, classmates and the entire school, she is an amazing track runner, she is an amazing basketball player, she is the top student of her class/school, and she is also the 2nd best player of the Super Smash Bros rip-off game that Tomozaki is no. 1 in. See what I mean by a deity? What I fail to understand, even if she puts a ton of effort into all subjects, how is she good at everything? She has enough time to study and become the top student of her school, she has enough time to mingle and maintain a good relationship with her friends, she has enough time to do makeup, she has enough time to practice for basketball, she has enough time to practice track, she has enough time to climb all the way up to the 2nd place in the most popular video game. How? And when Tomozaki called her a top tier character, she probably also says that she had to put a ton of effort, so I'm guessing she wasn't born a deity. Even so, how did she manage to become so good at everything? We have no answer. Even though she's good at everything, she claims that her being perfect is only an act. When Tomozaki and Hinami had that little fight where Tomozaki being a reasonable person for ONCE in the entire anime, and Hinami got mad at him. Basically Tomozaki refused to do one of her task which was to confess to a girl, because he thought that those weren't his true feelings and he was doing it because Hinami told her to do so. After hearing this Hinami got mad and gave a cringy speech, I might be wrong but from what I understood, all she said was "What is point of doing what you want? That's a waste of time! Doing what others expect of you is a true productive human!" So basically, in summary, Aoi Hinami is a slave and she was mad that Tomozaki wasn't a slave like her.
Other characters are boring and have nothing special to them, emphasize on the 'nothing', absolutely nothing. The side characters are so boring, they often come on screen to remind us that the main characters aren't as boring as them.
Animation is just average, nothing special to it. All the budget went into animating the lips of female characters, which were the only good thing about this entire anime.
The ending sequence, which deserves a better anime, is the only redeeming thing about the sound aspect of this anime. Because voice acting is meh at best and they tried to add sad piano soundtracks like OreGairu and miserably failed.
My overall impression of this anime is just bad. I wouldn't recommend this anime to anyone. This anime is pseudo deep. The only reason why I thought I should give this a chance was because people claimed that this is as good as OreGairu, which was a massive lie. If you're having trouble sleeping, then this anime might help, otherwise if you haven't seen it, then don't. Well, it's all up to you anyways.

Mushoku Tensei is a long awaited adaption (And a very controversial one), and it's a fairly good adaption coming from a new studio and an excellent director who knows what he's doing. The anime was able to create a medieval setting that most other isekai failed at doing, starting from the amazing opening sequence from Yuiko Oohara to the entire production of this anime, enjoyable characters combined with great animation and direction, all ruined by Rifujin na Magonote's inability to write a consistent story.

person to get mad at fan service and ecchi, in fact, I was one of the first people to defend Mushoku Tensei when people started hating on it. The part where I was completely lost at was when Eris was sleeping, and Rudeus thought “She's sleeping but what if I grope her breasts and take off her panties” and does exactly that with a very unattractive grin on his face. At one scene, Roxy is having a conversation with her former student, it’s loving moment, all until some random fat guy jumps from behind and starts intensely groping her boobs. Humour is subjective and I only speak for myself, so personally, rather than that scene being funny, it was creepy and ruins the tonal consistency of the story. You can’t have a serious conversation and add a sex joke between that conversation and expect people to take it seriously. While it doesn’t completely ruin the anime for me, it definitely hinders my enjoyment and ruins the consistency of the story (sometimes).
This is only season one, but it has been very slow at the start, although I have to admit, the slow start didn’t feel bad, until they rapidly started changing settings and characters. The setting of the anime was changed two times within 11 episodes. At the start, it had a SoL fantasy feeling to it, which later turned into SoL adventure in the second half of the anime.
The worst part of the story and the characters are how often they keep changing the casts. After four episodes, I was getting used to Rudeus’ family, that’s when they decided that they need to add new characters. Again, just when I was getting used to the new cast, they dumped another cast change on us. I’d really prefer if Rudeus stayed with someone for a long term, rather than that character staying with Rudeus for an arc, going away for a timeskip and then reuniting with Rudeus again. This season felt more like an epilogue rather than the start of the actual story, so I’ll wait for the second cour to expand of the story part.
The characters are good, except Rudy. I wouldn’t say that he is a bad character, but he is inconsistent. At one scene, he’s protecting an elf girl who’s getting bullied, because it reminded him of the time other people used to bully him on his previous life, it’s a good scene. And in the next scene, he’s thinking about how he’s gonna make a fine woman out of her in the future. All the other characters, while great, are still underdeveloped (I don’t mean that in a physical way lol). I did mention the problem of how the writer introduces a character, that character stays with Rudy for a while, and then that character goes away and returns after one time skip. The cast changes get annoying after a while.
Now, for the aspect which truly carries this season, the animation. Boy oh boy, the production is just on another level, especially for a new studio. When you pay attention to the small details the studio put out, it puts a really big smile on your face. I encourage everyone to search for these small details as they are quite intriguing. And that’s not all, even the small fight scenes are so well animated. When’s the last time a light novel got this special treatment? I don’t remember. Studio Bind deserves tons of appreciation for this adaption. The anime truly is amazing when you pay attention to the small details, you’ll understand how high the production value was for this anime.
The sound has been the bread and butter of the anime. The voice actors take this anime to the next level, the dialogue delivery feel genuine compared to the average copy paste isekai, thus making the voice acting one of the best aspect of this anime. Not only this, but as I already mentioned, the opening sequence song and the ending sequence song are amazing, it feels like it was made for the anime rather than the radio. Especially the opening, gotta give credit where it's due. The opening gives such a pleasant medieval vibe, with the flute and all, it's perfectly fits the setting of the anime and also doubles as an enjoyable song.
Now it brings us to the main question, should you watch this anime? If you haven’t watched it already, then my review should give you a good answer for whether you want to watch it or not. Personally, I really encourage everyone to look beyond those ecchi scenes and get into this series, while I agree that some scenes were a bit uncomfortable, but then again, everything else about this anime is too good to miss. In fact, I kind of feel bad that some people might miss out on a great series because the author feels the need to add these inconsistent over the top ecchi scenes. As for me, whilst I was disappointed at certain parts, I thoroughly enjoyed mosts aspect of the anime. Since my rating for this dwells between a seven and an eight, I chose to give this anime a seven and a half, clearly because it's an above average isekai and it's an irrefutable fact (Comparing it with Wise Man's Granchild, Death March and Isekai Cheat Magician, the big 3 of copy paste generic isekai). I'll be looking forward to see how the studio handles it's second cour.
