I'm not one to read a lot of romance. Having some romance is expected in most stories, there has to be some kind of emotional hook, or why would you care. This is straight up a romantic comedy with a bit of monster action icing. I honestly was expecting far more monster that romance, but that is not what was here. It is definitely NOT Lovecraftian, and not nightmare inducing. It's cute, kinda funny, a little heart warming. Generally a nice tale of a couple of teens who like each other and are awkward about it. One of them happens to be a "monster"
Don't get
...
me wrong I didn't hate this, I'm not mad about reading it, but if you are looking for some horror monster stuff, like I was, this is not it. If you like romantic comedy/borderline slice of life, this might be your cup of tea.

The concept for this manga is a fun one. Although it has been done in the past, probably many a time. Machines take over society, the last humans fight back. It is original enough in the details to make it a fun read. It feels like an action movie plot and it wraps up like an action movie would. perhaps a little to quickly and neatly. If you want a quick read between chapters of longer heavier stuff, you won't have a bad time, but don't expect too much out of this one.
The characters feel like action movie tropes. Bad ass chick a-la Resident
...
Evil(the movies) or Underworld(y'all remember that one?), Some soldier fodder, with a bad ass leader Vin Diesel type, some scientists who f'ed up the planet. Very standard stuff. No real character development, they are their trope and they stay that way.
The art is fine. I like to do some art now and again, and I'm down with using reference, everyone does it. This takes it a bit far though. The lead soldier isn't just a "Vin Diesel" type, he's actually Vin Diesel. Like, that was drawn over a picture of Vin Diesel. Those covers are nice, the protag looks good, but they are sketched over pictures or screencaps. It's a shame because the artists are clearly skilled, but it really takes you out when you are trying to figure out what actress that is. Probably the chick from Underworld.
It helps with the action movie vibe I guess?
Over all very mid tier all around, nothing offensive, nothing spectacular. I read it in about 2-3 hours so perfect action movie length.
It's pretty hard to keep up with the Miuras and Boichis and Muratas so I don't blame them for cheating just a bit.

I gave it lot's of time to get good, just in case, and it never did. Heavy like pop music, dark like white paint.
Do you like metal? Do you like dark fantasy? You probably won't like this.
Do you like being pandered to? Do you enjoy every line of dialogue being exposition? Are you pretty dumb and easy to manipulate?
This might be for you.
It's all so forced. The dialogue, the action, the "ecchi", the names, everything is trying so hard to be cool and edgy. This is the "hello follow kids" of anime.
Metal heads can smell a try hard poser from a mile away, and this
...
thing stinks.
If you like metal, just look up the OP on YouTube, that should tell you all you need to know.
We all know the anime tropes, boob and buts hanging out, OP main character, named ultimate moves, clothes melting slime. This show has it all, and does it all badly. Imagine you wanted to write an anime for a specific audience, let's say metal heads for example. But you don't listen to metal, and you don't watch anime. This it what you would come up with.
A character says " Why don't we have a battle with our swords and magic". What? Did a human write this? The dialogue is so BAD. EVERY LINE of dialogue is bad. I don't think anyone has had dialogue that wasn't "I am describing what is currently happening"
"you haven't aged at all in 15 years. It's because of your elf blood... your dark elf blood"
"it's so huge it's shaking hands with my bellybutton, but I guess you noticed that"
Every girl is a virgin.
There are TWO "I have to suck the poison out" implied oral sex scenes. Not for the joke, but for the ecchi. So creative and original...
Feels like this was written by a horny 15 year old, but he's actually 60.
I wouldn't really consider this to be "gory" either. There is no impact or stakes. Especially when it comes to the MC, his plot armor might be the thickest I've ever seen. He's constantly getting hit and it has no effect after 5 seconds. Nameless orcs and demons exploding like balloons of red paint are about as gory as smacking a mosquito before it's drank it's fill. I've had bloodier shits, that were less shitty. There is blood, but Pokémon feels more violent, and Yu-Gi-Oh has higher stakes.
The only positive things I can say about this pile is the art is pretty good, and mangaka is on hiatus.
Watch it muted.
