This anime called Shinsekai Yori (From the New World), is an anime I just recently finished watching after about a month of watching it between the seasonal anime airing gaps. I must say, this anime is something else. A golden egg among the white, ordinary ones. It really captured the beauty of the world which is quite similar to ours, yet so different (I will not say anything more of that, because then I will get into spoilers). This is one of my favourite anime of all time and I am really glad I decided to watch it, so let us get into the specifics

on why this anime is so spectacularly amazing.
The story- As you probably have read the synpsis for this series, I will not get into that- and instead tell you why the story is good or bad.
So, to start things off, the story is quite original. A dystopian future set in a world were most people have psychic powers? Count me in. Therefore, the premise of the series really grabbed and took a hold on my curious mind so tightly for me not being able to let go. For most dystopian stories are either just post-war stories with nuclear fallout and what not, or futuristic cyberpunk stories. So, this anime was a breath of fresh air, and that breath of fresh air was truly a ride worth going on.
The art- This is something which the anime really has done correctly, or rather, one of them. Especially in the beginning, the art direction changes a bit in some episodes, because of them changing art director for some episodes. That might seem like a bad thing, but on the contrary, that leads to some episodes being more art-oriented than others- and since when was artsy a bad thing? But, the episodes still had as much of a stoy as the other episodes, and every episode had their own charms.
Sound- The sound is something which really contributed to the series tone and mood. I do not listen to the sound all that much, but I could really notice that the sound was very neatly put in the right places to get the right mood.
Character- The characters in this series are very realistic, and I really love the characters and feel for them in the end. The characters break at certain points and do not break at certain points, and that is one of the reasons why they are very likeable, you can sense yourself in at least one of the characters and how they act in certain situations. Some of them are strong and some of them are weak. Some of them are loveable and some of them are not so much loveable, and you will see that people will decieve eachother quite a bit, mostly for selfish purposes (or I will leave you to think otherwise if you like).
Enjoyment- The overall enjoyment of this series is a solid nine, because I feel that I could not give the enjoyment a ten, because sometimes the episodes can be just a tiny bit boring, just so little so the enjoyment almost reaches a ten, but falls just so little short from it.
The overall rating is a ten though, because I belive this anime is a modern classic in the making.
