Both have very different plots but are similar in many ways. The artstyles of both are unconventional yet hold the story up. The familiar atmosphere of "the strong yet humble samurai" and a unique cast of characters we come to love in the backdrop of Edo japan. Takemitsu is a bit more abstract and artistic with more fights while House of five leaves focuses more on the story and seldom has any action. But the ambience is familiar while reading both

Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudou-bu

Both Tsurune and Chihayfuru take a Japanese tradition and place it in the modern school setting, the two focus on the sport and fleshing out the current practice of Karuta and Kyudo while also focusing on character development and relations. -Both have sports unique to japan and are educational. You learn about the nuances and specifics of sports you may have never heard of. -Are engaging and can be a good tense. -Have a semi-mysterious main character (Masaki and Arata). -Have an MC who is great at their sport yet face difficulties and improve in time, not prodigies. -Both are technically school-life but thankfully don't ever really focus on actual school. -If you like Hakama...got a lotta hakama. -gorgeous animation (madhouse and kyoto-ani). -The sports have played into the characters lives and have emotional meaning to them. Chihayafuru-- -Is a romance, however it's more of a subplot since Karuta takes stage here -Has a bit more slice-of-life and home life involved which helps with individual character development. Tsurune- -Has a mystery-dead-parent trope going on but it's being well done and a 'mystery injury' that is a plot point but it isn't rushed. Anyways, I was surprised at how much they both reminded me of each other! hope you enjoy both as I do :)

Berserk and Dorohedoro are filled gorgeous art, complex stories, unique characters and easily hold their own in the manga world. Personally both stand out in very different ways and i didn't even make a connection to them until recently but I really urge you to read both. ~both stories are set in an entirely different world that will draw you in ~magic plays big roles in each, Berserk has more classic sorcery while dorohedoro has its entire own type of magic ~main characters are memorable for their personalities ~lovable and funny main sidekick (puck and kaiman) ~both have unorthodox art styles that really make them standout. Berserk being more realistic style with incredible detail (that only gets better through the story) while dorohedoro has a more sketchy and punk-like feeling ~Both authors learned how to draw humans better through the years ~lots of boobs in non sexual situations...like I know this is weird to point out but you sorta start to notice that people tend to end up topless but it normally makes sense as to why (sometimes??)

they have the same directors but both have very individual charms -both have young women thrown into entirely new situations and new worlds where they have to learn their surroundings -both have no family, either dead or abandoned. so they find love and support in the new people they have met -great senses of humor, but has its serious parts as well -both have amazing manga. i will say this, Fruits baskets story was cut off very early in the manga and is well worth the read! while kamisamas OVA's make up for the majority of the chapters and is quite honest to the original story
