Okay, ill just go straight to the point. Bakemonogatari is an anime that breaks the NORM, actually it destroys the norm. Bakemonogatari is a show that is so nice to see because it is unique, showing a completely different perspective of anime.
The show consists of a few story arch that spawn as the protagonist life progresses. Meaning that our main character story and the story arch intertwine at key moments of the story. Without giving away much, the story is and interesting. And will certainly be enjoyed by more critical anime viewers. This is a very dialogue driven story so don't expect any action
...
segments at all.
The art is different, which is something one will notice right at the start. There is a big use of words especially at the beginning of each episode. Overall the art is something that I don't often see but it's absolutely effective.
The characters are fantastic, each with their little problems. The way the characters converse with one another is enjoyable to hear and is a breath of fresh air from the majority of anime. Essentially character interactions can either be realistic or extremely strange. Which makes the show more interesting to watch. Characters are a key part of this series and you will get to understand why soon.
I loved this anime. It's effective but not by conventional means. Bakemonogatari is definitely worth a watch for someone who wants something different.

Not really expecting anything at all, I watched this show in a neutral manner:
Oda Nobuna no Yabou is interesting because, people expect an perverted mess and get surprised once they watch the show giving it a lot of praise. To be honest, Oda Nobuna no Yabou is really nothing that special in most parts.
The story follows the "romantic comedy" formula and is extremely easy to follow. Add a few character development elements and you get Oda Nobuna no Yabou. It's OKAY, the characters are well done and the story fits well with the show. But like I said before it's
...
really "by the letter" romantic comedy with action.
The art is also typical in some aspects. And what I mean by that is that there's not much innovation, which is due to the setting of the story (they kinda had a guideline no time for free roaming). To it's credit they did a great job in showing off the time period since it's loosely based on historical events. Despite it being typical, the use of some vibrant colors was executed perfectly and character design was not only true to it's time but showed originality as well.
The best part about this show has to be the animation, it's top notch. One of the better animations i have seen.
The OP is alright, to be honest I don't care about it much. As for the sound it's great well done!
In the end Oda Nobuna no Yabou is a fun watch. But in the end it's a typical romantic comedy with action and realistic (not clinging to the protagonist) characters. In other words slightly above average.

From the studio that made Eureka Seven comes Bounen no Xamdou a 26 episode series bearing the same art style and conventions as E7.
I'm not going to go too far and say that this was a fantastic masterpiece, as some people claim. I will not claim that the series is terrible. To me Bounen no Xamdou is a good series that is quite entertaining but bears some flaws, but they are not bad enough to ruin the experience of the show.
Like Eureka Seven the art is fantastic, and should be greatly praised. The story is a little lacking in terms in explaining itself but as
...
I said before it didn't bother me that much.
As for the characters, i guess they were all lovable in their own small way. Some change during the course of the series and others don't. The characters don't bore you, which is the most important part.
In conclusion, this series is above average. I enjoyed it and you will too. The story is nothing to rave over but it is still a great series. It washed off the taste of Eureka Seven AO >.<

Berserk aired in 1997, is a action tale taking place during the dark ages. And it is quite good.
What seemed at first was your typical action, blood and guts everywhere with your typical hero who has the strength of an M1 Abrams tank destroys everything in it's path. That's what i thought when watching the first episode but after watching the whole thing, I was so wrong.
It's simplistic story is enticing, and the same goes for the characters. Besides the action berserk has so much to offer in terms of character development and drama. But if you just want to watch it for
...
the action, fear not because there is a lot of fighting in this 26 episode series.
The art ant sound is typical for a 1997 production, which is not a bad thing at all. The animation is good and the art really complements the mood of the story. They also used many still images either in the end or at certain scenes of the story which looked really good.
So if your are looking for a series with the best of both worlds, then this is for you.

As a show on it's own, Mirai Nikki is a extremely entertaining show. But i can understand why people thing otherwise. Nothing is perfect, and we have to understand that. So i will point out the good and the bad. But first let me just get some details out of the way,
The story is extremely simple, there is a competition (created by god or deus) with 12 people. These individuals gain the ability to see the future using their cellphone. If the phone or person gets killed she/or she is out of the game. The winner becomes god.
Among those 12 people the story follows the
...
footsteps of Amano Yukiteru, a lonely grade schooler with no one to turn too. Lucky for him one of the members of the competition is madly in love with him and is willing to do anything for him, her name is Yuno, a pink haired innocent girl on the outside but a insane killing machine on the inside.
As a character i absolutely adore Yuno. It's nice to see how someone who bears the stereotypical female norms of society can become so twisted yet change to innocence in seconds. I love characters like this, they are the most interesting to watch.
The sound and art is up to par. I found that the expressionism the character were slight different in this show compared to other anime. Mirai Nikki bears some wonderful art and sound.
There are a lot of characters in this show. So there wasn't much room to generate some character development with everyone. But they did enough to tell what kind of person they are and stuff so it's not bland or anything. This show does have some memorable characters so don't fret about that. Many people complain that the characters are either really dumb or they change personality instantly constantly like Yukiteru. Yes Yukiteru is a EXTREMELY dynamic character no doubt about it. It could be a be a bad thing for some people but i kind of like it considering that the kid doesn't know what he wants.
Now the problem that quite a few people have with this show is that the producers implemented elements from other genres to the show. And yes I agree to a certain extent that this sours the show. But in my opinion, it's really not that bad. To be honest it could have ended up much worse.
Overall, this show is not perfect (no anime is) but it is extremely entertaining and worth a watch.

Many people say that lucky star is the "sienfeld" of anime. But the difference between the two is: sienfeld is actually funny.
Now before you rage, hear me out....
Sure lucky star is a show about nothing and is a compilation of funny skits and such. The only thing is that, i did not find the show that funny. Or as hilarious as people make it to be. Yes there were a few parts where i laughed but besides that nada. This is perhaps my fault for i was not really used to these kinds of shows. So a year later, i watched it and with much
...
more knowledge on anime. I obtained almost the same result. It's very easy to make me laugh but this show does not click for me.
On the brighter side the art and the sound fits well with the setting of the show, the opening is uplifting and catchy. Also it was interesting at times to follow the lives of the characters. Which brings me to my next point, the characters are actually not bad and it is extremely intriguing to follow the lives of these high school students.
Overall, the show is alright but really it was not my thing. I didn't find it that funny. But it still has some redeeming qualities.

Steins;Gate is about time travel. And believe it or not does it pretty damn well. Steins;Gate is extremely entertaining and mind boggling.
More details:
The story is absolutely awesome and it is not boring at the slightest. Usually with a concept as complicated as time travel which includes linear theorems would just confuse people and turn the show into a big turn-off. Steins;Gate does not suffer this, the story is easy enough to understand but still requires some thought process (just the right amount). It will keep you at the edge of your seat for the entire ride. There is one complaint that some people
...
refer that the story drags on way too much this is due to an event where the protagonist is forced to constantly go back in time. I honestly liked how it dragged on because it displayed how the main protagonist felt, as he was reliving the same days constantly. There are VERY few events that are predictable, but to notice them depends on the caliber of your knowledge in anime.
The art and sound is great, put simply. There is high value for this show's art and sound and you will be able to notice it right away.
I love the characters in this show they are all different and interesting in their own ways. Each having their own unique traits that can at times exclude them from society. Some characters are dynamic others static but no matter what they are still lovable and easy to follow along.
Overall Steins;Gate is a must watch.

FLCL is a show (no shit). Well gainax wanted to try something new and innovate once more, and thus FLCL was born. This little gem only containing 6 episodes floats around in the anime universe as a huge WTF. The wonder of this show is trying to understand it, in which think i have successfully done.
The story is basically this: Haruko an alien comes from outer space and is searching for a being named atomsk (who is super powerful). She comes to earth and settles in a town where atmosk is being held. Thats basically it. There are also side stories about the intergalactic
...
association in the town that is disguised as a factory in which breeds a conflict between another association. Essentially the first line is more important. Now Haruko for some reason needs the main protagonist Naota in order to do so (this is for you to find out). There are many little stories clumped in this show but I think one should just focus on what Haruko wants, needs for it is the most interesting story arc.
The art is fantastic, this era of gainax produced such great art the colors are so well done and the overall design was unique and had character I LOVE IT. The sound was also great.
The characters are fantastic and are entertaining to watch. Each have their own problems and they are all shown within this small 6 episode window. Each character is completely different from one another and that's what we need more of nowadays in anime.
I enjoyed the living shit out of this show, i do a lot of literature in my English class, so i had a really fun time looking at the ideology and symbolism etched in the show.
Overall, this is one of my favorite anime. It is unique, innovative and most importantly the ending rocks (but i wont spoil it for you ;) )

Elfen Lied was recommended my a friend, i checked other reviews and it was displayed as a masterpiece. While it is a great show it does not have much going for it ins some areas.
The overall plot was probably the strongest aspect of this show, it was intriguing and captivated me. It could be at times predictable but still the story are great. You also get your daily happy meal of incest, pedophilia, violence towards women, beating children, intense blood and guts (yeah this series is also a gore fest) and incest. Pretty much borderline narcissism.
The art was done well, it looks good and is
...
fully capable to tell the story on it's own. The same goes for the sound.
Now the most important part, characters. I absolutely hate 90% of the characters in this show. These characters cannot suck it up, they always have a reason to be sad and cry. It's like a freaking soap opera. It's annoying more than effective. The feelings portrayed by the characters are exaggerated and i don't like them.
Besides the characters, ellfen lied is quite strong in the story aspect but don't get me started on the characters.

This show first caught my eyes while I was browsing through netflix. At first I thought it would be some soft core pornographic mess but in reality it's not. Surprisingly witchblade delivers very well and truly enticed me as a viewer.
The art was a little lacking but it still delivered. You may notice a few blemishes here and there. But overall it's alright, I really do appreciate the art style used. The animation also bears a few blemishes but it's nothing to hate the show for.
The sound and music is good and really suits in their respective moments. It won't be disappointing.
What really made
...
the show for me was the characters and the story. Basically there's this devastating earthquake and Masane is found with a bracelet and a child in her hands after the event. She also has amnesia and does not remember most of her life. The story revolves around Masane and Rihoko who share this impenetrable bond.
The relationship between Masane and Rihoko is not only heartwarming but heartbreaking as well. Along with many unique characters. Rihoko may look like the bigger mother figure at first but as you progress though the story, you soon realize that the protagonist Masane goes above and beyond for her precious little daughter making Masane in my opinion the true mother figure.
There are a few twists and surprises within the story but to be honest to see what Masane would do for her innocent little daughter really sold it for me.
You have to watch this show, honestly it's just so great. I actually felt sympathy for all these characters. And for a show, that's really hard to achieve. Or maybe I just have a soft spot for child - parent relationships. I dunno.
9/10
