This sucked. The first two or three episodes were good, but after that, it fell downwards fast. The problem I have with this season is that the villains are just too weak. The whole point it seems of Upper Moon 6, Gyutaro and Daki, being the main villains of the Entertainment District Arc was to show how dangerous the upper moons were. Going into that season, we already knew the threat posed by the upper moons, as the only upper moon demon we had seen to that point killed a Hashira while seemingly toying with him. And after all the destruction, death, and injury brought

on by Gyutaro and Daki, even though they were defeated, it took the combined efforts of a Hashira, his three wives, three demon slayers, and a demon to bring them down. When the season ends, you are left with the feeling of "Oh shoot, that was all for upper moon 6, the weakest one. What are the other upper moons like?".
But, this season disapoints in an extreme way. The opening scene of the upper moons is very well done and does a good job introducing them. The problem is, the two who were sent to the Swordsmith Village, Gyokko and Hantengu, were just so underwhelming. Gyokko, who is supposedly stronger than the main villain of last season Gyutaro, is done in by one hashira with ease after the hashira gets a deus-ex machina power up, and defeats the upper 5 moon literally without batting an eye. Upper moon 4 Hantengu did not fair any better. It took more effort to finally defeat him, but he really did not pose much of a threat and everyone is fine with no injuries. His inital clones were all weak enough they could be defeated relatively easily, and the final form clone just didn't feel threatening in the way Gyutaro did. All of the fighters escaped the conflict with TWO of the upper moons without any real actual injuries (that do not simply require a timeskip to heal).
I'm not hating on the demon slayers, and as much as I hate the Gyokko vs Muichiro fight, I do not hate that it was just Muichiro who defeated Gyokko. In fact, I believe that it would be great if Muichiro is first faced with the seemingly impossible task of defeating an upper moon by himself while protecting the swordsmith boy, however he awakens his demon slayer mark, and instead of it giving him a free win, it evens out the difference in strength between Muichiro and Gyokko, and Muichiro has to fight tooth and nail, sustaining heavy, life threatening injuries in order to defeat Gyokko. This has the same effect as the original story, as it still displays how much of a prodigy Muichiro is, as we saw a grown experienced Hashira like Tengen require the help of others in order to win against Gyutaro. I just wish the villains were more imposing and brought more of a threat to the characters, instead of simply being wasted. Such shame that this series went from such a high to a low.

Back to the height of season 1, it fixes some of the interest and retention problems that were faced in season 2, and does a really good job of developing characters and showing the realistic, gritty nature of sports. One thing that is somewhat lacking in this season is high stakes, as unlike season 1 or even 2, there aren't much stakes to any of the matches being played, which is understandable, as it is set during the off season, but from a watching standpoint, you certainly don't get that gut gripping tense feeling that you get from the Inashiro qualifier game, or the Yakushi

fall tournament final. Still very good though, although I am still a bit unsure as to whether somebody not very interested in baseball would enjoy this show. USA vs Tokyo All-Stars was too funny though.

Maybe you have to know or play baseball to like this series as much as I did, but to me, it is a very fun show to watch. It is quite realistic in the way that it portrays baseball, which can be rare for sports animes. There are some slow moments and lows, however the highs are absolutely incredible and gut-gripping. This show really does a good job of twisting expectations and keeping you guessing. I have tried on multiple occasions to try and guess what will happen, and I have been wrong almost all the time. This also sparked an intrest in Japanese baseball

I believe that this season is slightly worse than the first season, and that is because one of the problems that was kind of present in the first season is now fully apparent here. Much like real world baseball at times, the games being played are just boring. They have no stakes since you know Seido is going to win, and Seido are playing against random teams who you do not care about in the slightest, with characters who are bland and unforgetablen with no past history in the show. This is made worse by the fact that it's pretty obvious Seido will be playing

Yakushi in the fall tournament final, so the games leading up to that feel like chores to watch. They swore Mukai Taiyo and Teito were tough, but they just aren't, and the show doesn't make you care at all about Seido playing against "The strongest team in East Tokyo". Admittedly, like the first season, the highs are incredibly high, and the Seido vs. Yakushi fall tournament final game is incredible, however the games leading up to this moment are just flat out boring and not fun to watch. It starts off good with the atmosphere after the loss to Inashiro, then takes a dive once the fall tournament begins, and then skyrockets upwards for the final. Still great, but definetly a decline from the first season. Sawamura also kind of loses his spot as the main character, which is not unrealistic and fits the type of story Ace of the Diamond is trying to achieve, but it has a weird feeling from the perspective of a show.
