The story is nothing too much deep or complex, but works great with the tone of the series. It starts only as a personal revenge, but it scales very much as the show progresses. Good pacing, nothing that feels rushed neither any of the episodes are fillers. The story is also very original and unpredictable, with very little predictable events. The comedy is funny, got me a laugh nearly every episode, Most of them from Mako. This show is filled with surprising plot twists, mostly on the second half. like that, neither is it overdone. The fights are thrilling and well made. The ending is very satisfying, whitout any plot holes that i can remember, and it closes the story very well.
The animation, outside the fights, is pretty average, but during them the quality gets very better. Yes, there are moments that, example, the characters move stiffly,whitout animation, but all of these are comedic moments, and on more serious fights the animation is fluid.
I know that this is nothing special, but the anime is full 2D, no CGI crap.
The artstyle is nothing super realistic or strange, but neither is it generic, and it works well. with the tone of the show.
The voice acting is good, can pass the feelings hey're trying to convey very well, and all the voices fit the characters they're in. This is more subjective but the musics are pretty good. The openings and endings' musics are nothing special, but the tracks that play during the anime are wonderful. If you don't get hyped when hearing DON'T LOSE YOUR WAY you're dead inside. They are also put in the right moments. You know, epic music in epic moments, sad music in sad moments, etc.
There is not that much character devevolpment, but what it has is enough. Most of the named characters have unique personalities very diverse within them, mostly not falling in the common anime tropes, and also are very memorable. The duality between Satsuki and Ryuko in basically every aspect is interesting. The main villain's motivations, aside from being just a kind of "religious fanatism" aren't well made. All characters contribute to the humour and history, and most of them have important moments. Mako best girl.
I got spoiled on some things before watching, but it did not tarnish that much my experience, so i guess it has a good rewatching value.
