I was brought to this anime as it's one of the earliest with the "Girls Love" tag, and if you're here for that, 180 and walk the frith away. Don't even go "Well I wanna watch it for completionism." Just don't
Does this anime have GL/Yuri in it? Yes, in the first episode and it features all of the bad tropes we now recognize as being kinda problematic, even for anime. If you're not coming into it specifically for that, It's okay to mediocre. It has some comedic moments of crass humour and enough spicy scenes to keep you titillated, especially if you view it
...
through the lens and recognize that this is a 1994 anime with all the cheese that comes with the 90s.
The second episode is a much more straight forward plotline, not as crazy as the first episode and, is actually kinda cute in a weird way.
Voice acting is solid for the time period, the animation however is at times, kinda bad, even for the time period. Alot of inconsistencies with the faces and eyes especially.
In short, this anime falls between the "Mixed Feelings" and "Not Reccomended" tag, especially if put through the lens of "its 1994 bro, of course its kinda bad. But it's put as Not Reccomended because of how absolutely frustrating the GL/Bi rep was in the first episode.

A lovely blend of fanservice and cuteness in just the right amounts, all packaged up in a visual treat. While this anime won’t make you come to any life-changing epiphanies, it will provide a joyful amount of enjoyment across all spectrums of typical anime spheres. Unless you absolutely hate fan-service or need blood and gore in your anime, this one is worth a try for sure.
There is fanservice in this anime, yes. However it's in very modest amounts, and doesn’t feel out of place or incredibly forced to the narrative. It's also considerably front loaded and diminishes as the season goes on. It also
...
comes with it some very prettily drawn elements of clothes and bodies, ones that would be inspiring to an artist or mangaka.
Everything else illustratively in One Room is stellar, from the expressive eyes to the variations between characters. It’s not a masterpiece by any stretch, however it doesn’t need to be. That said, the backgrounds and landscapes could do with a bit more variety, but that feels like nitpicking for what this anime is.
Probably the biggest surprise of this anime is how well the voice casting and voice acting is. Lines delivered by all have a strong sense of emotion behind them, and the voice for the female MC in particular is perfect.
Storyline wise, this isn't a masterpiece or a thought provoking grand epic, but that's to be expected for an anime in this genre. And while it does get somewhat harem-ey, its nowhere near as bad as it could have been.
This series is worth a try for the first four episodes, and if you love it or like it, keep watching. If you don't then it's not for you and that's okay!

Pocha Climb represents the best that Yuri and manga overall has to offer and the only negative aspect of this story is that it was too short, (And that's not even the mangaka's fault, it was cut by the publisher due to low sales of the first volume.). Regardless of the prior parenthesis, the mangaka did an amazing job in wrapping up the story in the second volume.
Artistically, the only real issues stem from the MC being referred to as "chubby" but this not being shown as well as it could be, even by most manga standards. Sure, compared to her super skinny love interest,
...
she could be seen as wider, but that's more a body type than her actually being "chubby". Otherwise, the art is all fantastic. Nothing is spared or shied away from, especially with all the awkward angles and poses from climbing, the climbing gear and overall fashion. The world feels full with crowd shots and details on the climbing walls, there's even some unique "camera" work done in some panels while the girls are climbing.
Storyline wise, you can tell there was meant to be so much more exploration of the characters in this manga, so many threads and backstories to be fleshed out. It's amazing that the mangaka is able to breathe so much life into characters we only see for a few panels or less. The ending felt rushed, and that's because, as per above, it was. Despite how rushed it is, it provides a satisfying conclusion and the reader isn't left hanging with too many what ifs and speculations for the main storyline. Many more could have been expanded upon, but you'll just have to use your imagination for that (and again, not the mangakas fault, its on the publisher.)
As a bonus, this manga has one of the best dealings with of body image issues I have ever seen in any manga, it's a shame it couldn't have been explored more. Overall, the only reason to not read this manga, is if you hate reading something where you know there could have been more, but there isn't. Otherwise, this manga is a hidden gem among not just Yuri manga, but manga overall. Please give it a chance, and allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised.

I am loathe to give this a 6/10 as it's a whole anthology on Gyaru Yuri which is somewhat underrepresented in the genre. I need to specify that it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great.
To start off, there's alot of mangaka in this where it's their first involvement in a one-shot, and it shows in the storytelling and pacing of the short stories. It's understandable as there's not much to work with in a dozen pages or less, but even still, many of the stories felt rushed in the last two pages to get to a conclusion.
Artistically, they're all solid in design,
...
some of them are stronger when it comes to showing off the gyaru clothes than others but there's nothing bad, there's also nothing spectacular about the designs and art either.
The long and short of it is, if you're a superfan of yuri you'll enjoy it, if you're a fan of yuri and an appreciator of gyaru culture you'll enjoy it, if you're only really into mainstream and popular yuri or not really into yuri at all you may not enjoy it. At the end of the day though, it's only one volume, so its a short read.

A lovely series of one shots(and one short) revolving around the first times between couples. Almost every one shot had specific focus on the cute awkwardities in the lead up to "the act". Art between all one-shots was varied but solid between all of them.
There's nothing necessarily groundbreaking about any of the stories, they're all just nice things about cute girls, cutely engaging in the intimate acts of pleasuring each other for the first time.
The only major stumbling block was actually in the three chapter ending story which was particularly hard to follow, especially with two characters who looked very similar.

This anime is confusing yet you cannot look away and you want to find out more about it, and I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing and I have a feeling I will not find out until it's completed. To put it into a real world context, this would be like if you came across a car accident between a soviet union lada painted with pro-american stickers, and a circus truck full of giraffes that's being pulled by an amazon hauler. None of it makes sense, yet you keep watching to figure out exactly where it's going to
...
go.
Visually this story is above average, with some lovely detailing in the backgrounds and cute characters. The expressions and emotions alone are probably veering into the amazing. Especially some of the cuteness in the opening. If nothing else, the opening for this anime is both an audio and visual treat. It's a banger.
Character wise, see the first paragraph. You think you know a character and suddenly, oops, surprise, what a twist. Sometimes this is into the nonsensical, other times it's in absolutely cringing at something uncomfortable in a characters backstory/interests.
If you don't mind an anime that hooks you in and makes you question why the frith you're still watching this, then absolutely give this anime the three episode try. However, be warned, if you hate anime that is frustrating and is absolutely non-linear in its storytelling (especially the first episode, which seemed as disjointed as Pulp Fiction was in the order of scenes), then don't even pick this up from the first episode. As just like a car crash, you won't be able to look away.

This series leaves alot to be desired narratively but is stylistically a refreshing treat to the eyes. It will absolutely need a second season to make the narrative better.
While it's true that some of the romcom elements and tropes are a bit common, the setting of Hokkaido provides a certain level of uniqueness to them. It's also nice to see that despite the female MC being incredibly busty, we don't see an overuse of tropes playing onto this. Especially when it comes to bounce physics. It's a respectful (for an anime anyways) amount of chest related tropes.
The greatest boon to this series is the incredibly
...
distinct eye stylization, especially with the girls eyes. The last time I saw eye shinies and blooms so incredibly different was Harukana Recieve, so if you've watched that and liked it for the eyes, watch this for the same.
Other visual treats in this series includes the obvious nods to IRL Hokkaido and Kitami locations, and any natural scenes (snow, flowe gardens, etc) are done very well.
The supporting cast of characters come off someone one dimensionally, but for a series where we're supposed to be focusing on the two MCs, that's to be expected.
The biggest falling short point for this series is simply that it's only 12 episodes long. Far too little time to explore the narrative and it's supporting cast as it's unfolded to the viewer. As an unfortunate result as well the ending is somewhat unsatisfying. If you're a viewer who absolutely must have a satisfying ending, you may want to skip this anime until it gets another season.

If you're looking for a masterpiece of an anime, this ain't it.
If you're looking for an anime about cute mermaid girls doing cute things and can put aside the fact that physics will break in this and the mermaid aspect is nothing more than a reason to put tails on girls and have them float around, this is right up your alley.
I'm not sure what happened with the earlier episodes but both the sound and animation was incredibly mediocre early on. Around episode 4 this series started to up the swimming cycles in animation and also added more SFX that makes you "feel"
...
like your underwater.
The story line is rather generic, just girls going around and some vague idea they're working towards along with some hidden potential plot that reveals itself later
Static visuals and backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous even if the character designs leave a bit to be desired and at times the animation itself feels lazy.
This isn't a fantastic anime, it's not a great anime either. It's a good anime that's cute and one that's not deserving of the harsh criticism it's receiving. After having now finished the anime, this anime is one you must give a chance if you're a fan of all things cute.

Harukana Receive fits into a really weird storytelling narrative and manages to simultaneously tow two dichotomous lines.
Is this a story about beach volleyball that features girls in bikinis and all the obvious fanservice tropes and camera angles that come with it? Yes. Is this a story about people overcoming obstacles, both past, present and from within and external forces? Also yes.
Outside of this the story is visually gorgeous, I particularly found myself falling in love with the over embellishment on the eyes and hair.
About the only major elements where this story falls flat is sound and character. The beach volleyball sounds used
...
are solid, but definitely sound synthetic compared to the rest of the animes more organic sounding elements. The characters, while also solid do somewhat fall flat into typically overused tropes of "tragic back story." It's not too tropey as to prevent enjoyment or make you roll your eyes, but it's there.
The fact that Harukana Receive provides both a level of fanservice one would expect and on top of it having an very touching story is nothing short of a miracle, but it leads to one of the most refreshingly unique anime I have found myself watching in a long time. Especially given I ALMOST wrote it off because of the fan-service shots. I'm glad I didn't, and I hope you won't either.

Konbini Kareshi feels more like a hostage situation than an anime. The initial action sucks you in and then spends the majority of the series teasing you until the last few episodes where things really start getting emotionally impactful and interesting. Leading to the final wrap up episode which left things... as nicely concluded as they could be with the main groups, but left alot of the secondary characters empty.
If you go into that understanding you're going to get sucked in and then held hostage for a really slow burn slow pace series... and left somewhat unfulfilled then it will be an enjoyable if
...
"okay" series. The musical score is solid and so is the art, it's the rest that's severely lacking sadly.
In short, this series is frustrating in the end but okay.
