Both about a grumpy buff guy and a girl with certain features that I can not get further into, being in a tense friendship with a bit of emotions sprinkled on the top. Uzaki-chan we Asobitai is however more of just a general comedy with bits of romcom elements in it, rather than the main focus. The male main characters of Junichirou and Sakurai are really similar, and the supporting cast of both series (Misuzu and Carol and Ami and the blond guy respectively) also fill very similar purposes in both shows. The female main characters however, have some similarities here and there but are ultimately very different characters. While Tomo is seen more as a relatively masculine, tall, and competitive person who stays fit and knows karate; Uzaki is a short girl who just wants to hang out with Sak (which she sees as a "loner") and get on his nerves. So in conclusion, they're quite similar but Uzaki-chan is less romantically charged. Also, Uzaki-chan has a LOT more fanservice. Tomo has its fair share of it but Uzaki-chan has to have at least twice as much. Take that as you will.
