Zetsubou Sensei is this manga's polar opposite. Where this manga is surprisingly wholesome, SZS is dark and cynical. Where these are both similar is the top notch comedic writing, and use of referential humor. Both manga have literally gotten me to laugh at their gags out loud.

It has a very surreal, bizarre, sense of humor, much like that of Asobi Asobase. It also happens to take place in a classroom setting. Although, Zetsubou Sensei is a *very much* a dark comedy, and has a bit of satire thrown in.

Both deal with the theme of life and death, and are mostly episodic in nature. Each episode usually focuses on one or two characters that are only seen in their respected episode, much like Shigofumi. Death Parade also has a continuing arc focusing on the main characters as the individual storylines happen throughout each episode. Death Parade is a personal favorite, and I think anyone who enjoyed Shigofumi would love Death Parade.
