Writing this because of so many comments saying this is the greatest sports series ever on it's crunchyroll page. It's not. Cookie cutter edgelord MC with black hair. And every other character is another common Anime trope.
The story is about some kid who messed up his dream of playing at nationals. Gets a chance at Blue Lock where they want to find the best striker in Japan. The structure of Blue Lock means that if you don't pass their various tests, you get eliminated. What's even worse is that your career as a striker is over. I think this premise is completely dumb. There
...
are PLENTY of real life examples of people who are late bloomers. But this joker, Ego thinks it's fine to ruin someone's career at the age of 17? What?
Anime is also full of cringe dialogues like demons and "We aRE STriKeRS". I almost thought this was gonna turn into some pseudo vampire sports anime when it got that that episode with Bachira, the guy who yaps on about demons and monsters inside us. lol like what?
Carried by animation.

This is going to be a quick review of this anime going through the things I liked and disliked.
Honestly, I didn't think the strong point of this anime was from the story, which pretty much talks about a demon kid who is trying to become a strong exorcist in order to become stronger. The strong points I felt were the music and the characters.
I'm not really sure of the name for this song, but it played during the blacky the cat episode. Was I even supposed to cry during this episode? Well I did anyways. No, I'm not saying the story of that episode wasn't
...
sad itself, but the music that was playing made me have feels and all teary eyed. This was one anime that legitimately made me cry and I have to give props to that, which was mainly because of the music. The 2nd opening song is also another song I have note because I love that opening so much and is probably my favorite opening.
I felt that characters were another strong point of the anime. You see several people mature throughout the anime and have good development. Not to mention all the characters are lovable. My personal favorite characters would be Mephisto, Fujimoto, and Shima.
The only things I felt that detracted from the anime would be the pacing of the show. Sometimes I felt the show was getting a lot slower. The anime did however pull things that I did not expect to happen that early.
Overall, this series is a well done shounen anime with good music and characters. Definitely on the top of my list.

Honestly, I don't know how to start this off. Well for starters, the storyline is so-so, its pretty much like every sport anime where the main character/team/etc are striving to be the best.
I honestly think where this anime shines is in the characters, each and everyone of the characters has special moves, special playstyle, etc. that makes the anime so good. You just want to find out what each character has, in a sense its basically like any video game where every character has a different set of moves. Honestly, I just found all the matches to be enjoyable to watch. Once you finish the
...
anime you'll definitely have a few favorite matches that you'll watch over and over, or hell if you're like me, you'll just watch the whole anime again. The writers basically just took an action anime and put it into tennis would be the best way I could put it in.
The music of Prince of Tennis is pretty good, nothing to write home about as said before, the strong point is in the characters and the matches, at least in my opinion.
Now, I put a 10 for enjoyment, which might be controversial. I'll point it out, I do watch real tennis and play it, so I might be a bit biased here. I'll point out that the characters in the anime are probably better than real tennis players due to the high level of skill in the moves each character has. Thats what makes it enjoyable in my opinion, as I don't think a sport anime could pull it off if they it didn't have a bit of unrealism in their athletic skills. Now I might be wrong here as the only other sport anime I watched was Whistle! (or in this case quite a lot)
Oveall, this anime is a classic, and I'll probably watch this anime again if I run out of other series to watch as its never ending fun watching the tennis matches.

Story: ha, another one of these anime plots. the storyline reminded me of Sukunai, the two main characters are pretty much loners and were bought together due to the teacher the main character has. The other side character, Yui comes to the scene when she needs help baking cookies for someone. I guess the storyline basically talks about their experiences together. I actually dunno how to rate this since I didn't really like the anime for its storyline but more for the characters and the comedy it had.
Art: In a nutshell, I liked the art style of this anime. I tend to base animes off
...
their art style as a first impression, and this one definitely caught my attention
Sound: I never really noticed the sound, I do like the Opening however (Yukitoki).
Characters: oh how I enjoy the characters. My favorite has to be the main character, "Hikki". The way he looks at life just amuses me with all the monologues he has at the end and throughout each episode. His essay that he submits to his teacher are also very enjoyable. Yukino, the president of the Volunteer's Club, I look at as an elitist that stands above the others, not that I dislike her, I enjoy her character. The other main character would be Yui, I feel like she bought more innocence to the anime and is just plain silly heh.
Enjoyment: Again, I watched this anime for the comedic aspect instead of the storyline. If we're basing an anime on how funny it is, this is probably on the top of my list. most of the comedy comes from Hikigaya and his aspect on life and the different situations he comes across.

Now let me get this out of the way, I'm not the biggest horror anime fan, but this anime is only bit scary first. Let me broaden the animes I watch, which are basically more of the cheerful ones.
Let me go through the storyline first. The story is basically about a kid, Yukiteru, who I guess we could call a "Loner" dare I say. All Yukiteru does is type into his cell phone diary about random things he does throughout the day. Broadening more on the loner character, Yukiteru has "imaginary friends". One of those friends, Deus Ex, is the god of space and time
...
(if I recall). Now this is where it gets tricky. this god gives Yukiteru a cellphone that pretty much predicts everything he's going to do, just, random things. To make things even more complicated, his classmate, Gasai Yuno, also has one of these special cell phones, except her's is basically she knows what happens to Yukiteru in the near future. After certain events, both Yuki and Yuno get teleported into the "imaginary" dimension and see 9 other silhouettes of people. This is basically where the story gets even more intense. Basically, Deus Ex is on the verge of ceasing to exist and needs someone to take his place. So he gathers these 12 people to play a survival game to decide who will become the next "god". These 12 players use their special phones with different powers to play the game and try to beat each other which is of two ways: 1. you kill them or 2. you break their phone.
I also liked the art style of this anime. now again, I usually watch the more cheerful animes so I definitely thought the art style was good. The only reason I rated this a 9 was because the art style does not fit the atmosphere of this anime as its literally about people killing each other, and it gets extremely complicated and dark later on. To be honest, I didn't know jack shit about this anime as I came across this anime from watching a different series. At first it does fit the atmosphere, but boy do you quickly throw away that thinking.
Regarding sound, I thought the sound was extremely well done. The OST for this series is probably one of my favorite, even out of movies and non anime shows. To name a few songs, the sad piano music just fits every sad part. I swear I get the feels everytime I hear that song come on. The Epic Battle Theme was another favorite and its just intense. If you're not going to watch this anime, at least listen to the OST, I promise you, you'll like it.
Characters (a bit of spoilers) , there are a few notable characters I liked. 12 amused me a lot. I totally thought he was crazy and gonna be scary, but the way he introduced himself to the main characters was just funny. My favorite has to be Akise Aru, I can't really go into him that much if I don't want to spoil it. I'll just say he's an extremely smart person and just has a cool aura around him. 9th was another cool character. Deus Ex is probably the biggest troll character I've come across, you'll understand once you watch. 7th probably gave me the most feels out of any of the characters.
Overall, I enjoyed this anime a lot. The storyline was extremely well executed, the music fit every scene and overall and extremely good OST. All of the characters except a few were likeable. I definitely recommend this anime to anyone, if you can get across just a bit of blood and one f*cked up part, you'll enjoy this anime, even if you don't watch these type of animes like me.
