Angel Beats is a show, thats definitely not perfect. But its the way of "not perfect", that your girlfriend is. You know all the little mistakes, you can even see what she does wrong, but you would still rate her 10/10. I just have to say, that i really loved angel beats, although this review might not show it really well.
I dont think i will convince anyone to watch the show with this review, so i wanna say one thing first:
Dont expect too much from this show. If you watch it, expect some good comedie and artwork, but dont expect a life changing experience. I
...
totally think the show is worth watching, even if you dont get caught. Not everyone has to love it, but theres a small chance that you will. Watch a single episode every month and maybe one night you cant resist watching it all at once, like i did yesterday.
---Story 9/10---
I really didnt get the story in the beginning and it didnt catch me at all. The plot seemed to be a bit forced: Just lots of stuff happening and not a single explanation. Random action, random enemy, random story line without any clear way, where it might be going.
But with every episode my interests grew and it was around the 5th episode when i finally couldn't stop any more. I finally understood that the story wasnt about a clear story line, but about the development of the characters, which is the main purpose of angel beats according to my opinion. If you want an anime with a straight story line and a well defined goal, like for example One Piece always had, Angel Beats isnt a good choice.
I also understood that you cant rate the story after the first few episodes. In the end, most of the questions get answered and you finally realize that the story just needed some time to present the characters and define their situation.
---Characters 9/10---
We dont get to know anything about the main character in the beginning, as he himself doesnt even know who he is. But as i already said, its a lot about the development of characters, so it was pretty cool to see how he grew.
Among the other characters, we got a lot of different types. Some of them can be defined with in one sentence, but that mustnt be considered as flat characters, they are just simple and i think they brought a lot of life into the anime.
Of course, there are also some complex characters and as we get background stories about them, we understand the way they are and why they are that way.
All together we have a pretty colorful mixture of personalities. The only problem is, that its sometimes just a bit too many people.
---Sound 9/10---
Pretty cool soundtrack, loved the songs, have heard better ones though
---Enjoyment 10/10---
Angel Beats offers great comedie, so you will always have a certain amount of enjoyment, even if you arent caught by the story or you dont even know whats going on. Also the characters are funny, as they act together.
---Overall 10/10---
The end just hit me right in the feels. It was that awful kind of beautiful and i understand why people dont even get on that feels trip, cause the story was too flat for them and they didnt let the magic into their hearts, but i personally think Angel Beats really wants to tell us something or that it at least is a beautiful story.
