In the beginning, Kusatta Kyoushi no Houteishiki is lighthearted and well-balanced between Atsushi and Masayoshi's budding romance and Tooru and Masami's existing one, but after a while the first two kind of take a step back and give center stage to Tooru and Masami's relationship. Of course I enjoyed watching their romance progress, but at times it almost seemed a little dragged on. Once those two hit the next level of their relationship, however, Masayoshi and Atsushi stepped back up and created the best parts of the manga for me. It was great to see Atsushi grow up and mature, forever devoted to Masayoshi, and
...
especially moving to see Masayoshi mature and become more comfortable with himself.
This is a very funny manga, especially when Tooru is in the scene, that knows when to be serious and pump up the suspense. In the beginning it's extremely lighthearted and reflects everyone's immaturity, but as the characters grow and mature it gets deeper and more full of emotion. I felt very fulfilled when it ended, and all in all I really enjoyed this manga and spending time with its characters. It was also a treat to see the change in art style between the first and final volumes.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone who likes reading BL romances!

My initial reason for starting Kyou Kara Maou! was the shounen-ai premise (boy is transported—or rather, flushed down a toilet—to another world where the laws are extremely different and ends up accidentally proposing to one of the Maou's sons; sounds like fun to me!) and I became a little disappointed when I realized it wasn't a strictly shounen-ai anime, or even one that focused largely on romance, but after only a handful of episodes I was addicted to the humour and characters and there was absolutely no return.
Kyou Kara Maou! is a truly hilarious anime, and it's filled with so many great characters that it's
...
impossible not to have a few favourites. The characters and the interaction between them all was what made the anime so good in my opinion, and even though I must admit that the show has its share of filler episodes, I just adored the characters too much to really mind.
Despite the humour, however, Kyou Kara Maou! does have a serious story (once it kicks in) and some very intense episodes with a few plot twists and character back story that isn't so cheerful, especially coupled with Yuri's struggle to bring peace to this new world he's been crowned king of without resorting to war or fighting of any kind.
Yes, Kyou Kara Maou! is lengthy and probably a little cliché, but if you fall in love with the characters the way I did then you'll wish it had've gone on longer. I was sad to see it end, and it's absolutely become one of my favourite animes. If you like lighthearted anime with darker undertones that's full of great characters and don't mind the touches of shounen-ai (or crossdressing boys, for that matter), then I wholeheartedly recommend this series to you!

The beginning of Boy Princess is very rushed, and after starting it I began to wonder if it would even be worthwhile to keep reading. Once things slowed down, however, and the focus settled on the absolutely mind-boggling relationship between Jed and Nicole, I immediately forgave the rushed start and became more and more involved with the story, which is far more complicated than it seems at first glance.
Boy Princess certainly has its share of humourous and lighthearted moments, but it has just as many scenes that make you go, "Huh?" and "No way!", and even a few that'll break your heart. The characters are
...
certainly intriguing, and even the ones that sit on the sidelines get their chance to shine. The complex plot is hard to take in at first, but as more is revealed everything starts to makes sense.
For the record, this isn't strictly a shounen-ai manhwa. It has rather large doses of straight couplings too, and I even found myself enjoying those relationships.
I picked Boy Princess up as a light shounen-ai read, but I got so much more. When I read the last page I came away with tears on my face. An extremely enjoyable manhwa that will always hold a place in me, and that I thoroughly recommend for anyone who likes this genre.
