Another product of isekai genre, which focuses around food. This time, the setting is izakaya, a kind of bar that specialize in cheap snacks that go well with alcoholic beverages. A question, is this manga good enough to spend our time to? To me, yes, absolutely. If you are curious about what kind of story this manga has, please read the summary in the MAL page, "details" tab.
When we first open this manga, we'll be greeted with a sharp, tidy drawings. The background seems too solid and stiff at times, but the character and food drawings are surely a delight to enjoy. If i have
...
to describe the drawings quality overall, the word that come to my mind is "refined".
As we progress the end of chapter 1, we might conclude that "ah, just another isekai manga that introduces food with a story and narrative". Well, that is true, but even with only reading 1 chapter, we will feel that this manga is very heart-warming.
Then as we progress through the chapters, the gems that hiding inside this manga will start to surface. These gems are what i found as primary charms that this manga has to offer. One is called "solid story" and the other is called "connection".
How can a food manga with isekai setting have a solid story? To answer this question, i need to use the second gem that i mentioned. This manga story is solid because it is connected. Imagine we are building a wall, stone by stone. Each stone is connected to other stones. We keep putting a stone beside and on other stone, then before we know it, it has already become a solid wall. This manga story is similar. It is connected hence it's solid.
Then, what connects each stone (story) to others? The answer is the characters. It is a story-driven manga, but the characters hold the key that makes this manga has solid story. The characters are many, but they keep reappearing in latter chapters with strong personality and high consistency to add.
To conclude this review, i highly recommend this manga for quality seekers, but not for generic, isekai lover (tbh, i want quality but also am generic, isekai lover....kinda hard to say this).
This manga has different tone with other generic, isekai stories in way that this manga really holds down the basic and proper of making a story, not only just about desire to escape from reality. In fact, in this manga, we are somehow encouraged to face with our own reality. Thus, i won't recommend to the reader that seek desire and wild imagination.
For quality seekers though, enjoy this meal called Isekai Izakaya Nobu ~

Isekai boom as a new, emerging genre is still on-going. Despite it is indeed booming, we are talking about quantity here. Quality wise, many isekai animanga have gone down. Then the question is, does this title follows this trend, as one more isekai-themed product that has no notable quality? The answer is both yes and no.
There are surely notable things in this title as an anime. The shop itself is depicted as cheerful and heart-warming. The chef was voiced by Tomokazu Sugita. The food looks delish. There are manly characters and cute girls there. Etc. Those things are concept that were properly executed - except
...
one thing, the directing.
Directing an anime means affecting the total quality of the product which covers many things. But i want to stay focus on two things, mainly character design and the nuance that this anime gave.
Honestly, the character design is kinda disappointing. While the design allows for smooth animation because of its simplicity, the design looks too round and dull. While it's not something that bad, but it's not a pleasant to the eyes either. I feel the character design was directed to fit with the nuance depicted in the anime.
The second is the nuance. I can't help but feel that the nuance is kinda dull too. It might be too cheery, without any sharpness or refinement to add. Sure thing the food looks delicius, but that's it.
If we add the first problem and the second problem, then we'll get overall sensation that this anime is truly dull. Only introducing foods with a rough narrative and story.
That concludes this title as an anime : It's totally dull. But that doesn't mean it'll be the same thing if we talk this title as overall, meaning we include the original light novel and the manga version.
Let me say this, the light novel and the manga are far more better than the anime version. The manga version has a sharp design and tidy drawings. The light novel version has a pretty solid narrative. This title (overall) primary charm is the solid story and narrative with reappearing characters. It's really like we are building a wall, stone by stone. The completed wall is really something to see. Sadly, the anime doesn't have this charm (maybe yet).
As closing statement, i recommend to read the light novel and manga instead of watching the anime version. But it's really up to you, there's even a original story in the anime that the light novel and manga don't have. It might be worth to continue watching this if you are a truly fan of this title.

Many, if not most, gundam freaks have their own gundam(s) inside their imagination. Gundam Build series help us that, by freeing our imagination far and wide inside gundam universe. This concept is very spectacular, especially for gundam freaks, it's kind of heavenly. But concept doesn't always executed properly. Gundam build series anime fall exactly at this point. Except this one title : Battlogue.
GBF Battlogue is all about gundam battle in a particular setting. So there's only thin story, except the story of battle itself - if we can call that a story. Despite its thin story, the quality of that story speaks quite well. Each
...
episode has their own story, most are little expansions of stories from GBF anime season 1 and 2. That is a good thing, even more so because it's written with consistency.
Another aspect of story that Battlogue has a very high point is the references for Gundam universe. In such a short episode, there are some (if not many) references shown to please gundam freaks. Dig it deep, swim in the gundam universe, and we'll know how to appreciate those references.
Gundam Build series always falls in the aspect of animation, except for a few, early episodes in season 1-3. Battlogue, however, gave us one of the best animation in Gundam Build series in each episode. The animation is fluid, quite clear, nice colored, with many movements, etc. Such a pleasant thing to watch. It is important to note that Battlogue animation has more "realistic" feels than "shounen-ic" feels like season 1-2 (meaning, Battlogue isn't that flashy)
Another pleasant thing in Gundam Build series is the strong feel of "shounen" vibe. Im not talking about flashiness here, but a feel that make our heart trembles in excitement. It makes our heart unrest with such a joyful flame inside. The battle animation surely gives us this vibe, but the musics amplify this vibe by leaps and bounds. The musics have such a strong nuance of shounen and very fit to the battles shown. One can't help but feel "something is very lacking" when watching gunpla battle without a proper music. But nothing to worry, Battlogue gave us the best for this aspect.
To conclude this review, GBF Battlogue is the best Gundam Build series ever, because it could execute the concept very well. Im well aware that we can't fully see this title as a separate thing from GBF season 1 and 2, but nevertheless it has different title and the quality differs greatly from the previous seasons. For Gundam Build fans, it's recommended to watch Battlogue as a pretty nice, closing, after-taste from season 1 and 2.

This manga is an interesting one. It’s one of the very few mangas that makes me think and re-think really hard about the values and the author’s inner works. This kind of manga usually makes people raise their standard high before even re-reading it. That people including me. Yes, it’s a manga that is so good that can make people go like this.
But as i raised my bar higher and being honestly critical like what the MC in this manga did, then i would say, using Hibiki’s words, this manga is totally half-lame. Exatcly 50 out 100. Im talking about the inner values though,
...
not overall score.
First, if we talk about technical qualities as a manga, this manga might got a little more than average grade. The art isn’t bad, but it is not something of a diamond either. In the story aspect, the premise might be normal but the start was very smooth and very natural. As the story progressed, however, it lost the natural feels and the smoothness that it had.
And my last view about the story is.... using Hibiki words again, it is as if the writer has lost everything that she/he want to write. In short, this manga has become a story from a vanished author. Well, one more harsh words, everything that Hibiki said as a lame novel to many characters in this manga, can be applied to this manga itself.
Despite my harsh words towards this manga, i love this manga and i admit from my heart that this manga is really something else. This manga shines the most in the aspect of characters and their characterization. It’s not like each character has good chemistry or good vide, no, not at all – but it’s unique and consistent. Their consistency, which is a sweeter way to say “stubborn”, trait make the characters clash as they are. In a sense, that’s pretty natural thing.
One more great thing about this manga that this manga is a form of rampage from the author’s inner-self. When we go deep in this manga, it feels like we can touch what the author really want to write. His/her screams, ideology, point of view etc, things that i personally call those as the inner-values, can be really felt. This manga isn’t talking about in what way a manga has to be written, but what kind of a manga i want to write.
As an ending, i want to say that...i feel this manga is kind of the opposite of Gintama. Both of them has strong inner-values and can make us think about our own values twice. But one thing that i notice that they are at opposite is the center of ego. Gintoki really cares about others and Hibiki doesn’t care about others, but both of them are totally, bluntly honest with their ownselves, their own values and their own lives. I wish i could see Gintoki and Hibiki had a dialogue about life......

I have read this manga when i was midschooler. Now, after i became an adult, i didnt remember the story of this manga. I only remembered that this manga was somehow good. But when i tried to read it all over again, i realized that i have discovered a treasure.
To start off, this manga is a chill read. The first half, that is. But it transforms into something else, very subtly and very smoothly, in the second half. In the first half, it’s our everyday shounen manga covered in kendo as the center background. Then in the second half, this manga transforms into a seinen
...
genre without discarding its shounen part. Doesn’t make it a mess, that transformation? No, it doesn’t.
The transformation from one genre to another is pretty difficult thing to do in a smooth manner, if not impossible. But changing from shounen to seinen smoothly is as possible as a teenager turns into an adult in a year. Shounen genre tends to focus on “what i want” vibe, with burning spirit and hard work. The first half of this manga does the same thing, but in a very relaxed way. Almost each and every character focuses on what they want to do (not specifically talking about Saya here) in everyday life setting.
Seinen genre, on the other hand, tends to focus on “what i have to do”. It’s an adult mentality where only an adult (doesnt matter his/her age) can relate. This genre tends to talk about the heavyness of duty, responsbility of choice and commitment.
In this manga, the first half and the second half was merged in a very smooth manner, by transforming the thing that the characters want to do into things that they have to do. It needs to be noted that this transformation wasn’t discarding an ounce of its shounen aspect. It’s very clear if we take a look on UmexUra battles and Tama’s finding of her reason to swing her shinai.
That transformation i wrote up there has consequence, obviously. And the consequence is character developments. This aspect is what makes this manga a treasure. Character development in this manga shone very brightly, and probably not even lose with other development cases from other animanga titles. These developments are pretty wide and deep, but one development that really worth to note down is Ishida’s. His development is very realistic, honest and touching.
There’s two sad thing that i want to note personally. One, this manga could still go further actually. Even the writer, Masahiro Totsuka sensei, already imagined what would happen after the Hiryuuki. But this manga stopped which was unfortunate.
Two, there’s a gap of story and style between the anime and the manga. I personally love the manga version as this version can handle the development smoother and more impactful. But that is that.
Try reading this, i hope you will enjoy it, and more than that, i hope it’ll have an impact to your life

As it is very obvious from the title, this anime tells a story about girls (and some boys) doing kendo. A sport anime, without a doubt, with a shounen feels embedded strongly in it. What does this anime tell us beyond “cute girls doing kendo”? The answer is....a journey.
Kendo is a journey to better our ownselves. Im not practicing kendo, but that sentece is just something that i re-wrote from what i saw in this anime. People may start kendo with small or even ridiculous reason, but after they get deep into kendo, they’ll be set off to an internal journey. Yes, a journey indeed,
...
and journey means character development.
Character development is, in my opinion, the strongest point that this anime has. I am not telling that the other aspects of this anime are bad. Nope. But if we watch from the start till the end, what we will feel first is about character development - like Tamaki’s development to find her reason swinging her shinai, as well as Miya Miya’s. And how Ishida sensei developed from uncool, egoistic teacher to a teacher that sacrificed himself for his students (in a way, that’s quite cool). Even the plainest character like Yuuji (this is not my opinion, this is the characters opinion in anime) had a subtle yet strong development in this anime.
By all means, these character developments aren’t the best case in anime world. But they are still something worth to note down in our mind and heart. These developments feel like embodiments of the soul of kendo itself, then manifested in many ways depending on who is doing the kendo. What i mean is one person way of sword differs from others. Each person has their own development in their own track, that what makes this anime so beautiful.
Speaking about other technical aspects, i think it’s good except for the sound part, specifically the choice of the seiyuus. Many characters have seiyuu that don’t fit with their roles. This case is pretty similar to Shokugeki no Souma’s and it can lessen the characterization of those involved. And also, this anime needs more chibi form :3
For the ending part of the review, i strongly suggest to try anime version and manga version of this title. Yes, they are different - anime version and manga version differ quite great after the second half of the anime (and the second half of the manga). To put it simply, the anime version focuses on more shounen-ic vibe while the manga version focuses on what beyond kendo as a sport.
The story writer, Masahiro Totsuka sensei, stated in the afterword of the manga that he hoped Ishida’s development would have an effect to the reader. I think his statement worth something to try, or at least, that’s what i did and i found it very amazing. So try to read/see both versions and compare which one have more effect in you ~

Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai is an enjoyable manga despite being very cliche in the world of romcom. There's an unwritten balance within the characters that shines in a fun way and that is unique.
For the start, to be honest, i feel the story is poorly written, without almost any significant progress starting from chapter 5-7 onwards. Add to that, harem and ecchi (yes, this manga has ecchi genre actually, rather a light one) are two genres that im not a fan of. Then how can i enjoy this manga?
The answer to that question is the characterization. In my opinion, characterization is the strongest point
...
that this manga has.
Speaking about characterization, those characters themselves are usual and some will find them cliche (tsundere, airhead, sports girl etc), but there's a balance within them. In this manga, we can't really say who will the male MC end up with. Even the popularity pool that took place before ch 61 was surprising. If the mangaka wrote this phenomenon as "the hardest race between heroines", then yeah, that describes the balance that i speak really well.
This manga consistently keeping each of its heroine in their own track, then developing it in a somehow relatable manner. One just being a friend to the MC, one fell in love with the MC without realizing it, one also fell in love but she aware of it, etc - all of them have their own track, and from this track the story make its progress. I guess this is the source of that balance. Then adds some light comedies and this manga become interesting piece of art.

A beautiful work that pierce through our very heart and emotion. Many other anime titles tried to become a lion king, with a considerable force, impact and spirit. But this anime, unexpectedly (at least, for me), become one with its heart-warming, gentle and deep nature.
Why this anime is so beautiful? There are many answers for that, but this anime achieved a very high point for the technical qualities as an anime and beyond that, the essence of 3gatsu no Lion title that hits directly in the emotion of people.
Speaking of technical qualities, it’s pretty good from all aspects – graphic/art, animation, characterization, storyboard, sounds and
...
music, etc. All of them fit this anime pretty well. But there is one thing that i want to emphasize, one thing that came at me unexpectedly – the style.
Undoubtedly we can feel Shaft’s style in this anime. And i dislike that style in general, similar to my disliking of orange and strawberry. It is not my taste, just that. But in this anime, that style works brilliantly amplifying the nuance of drama, emotion and everything. This style makes this anime’s little detailed things like gesture, expression and emotion able to be emphasized.
Then there’s essences, inner-values which 3gatsu no Lion has in a considerable amounts. Each people will say different things about what 3gatsu no Lion talks about. I think all of their reasons are right. This is just a little proof that 3gatsu no Lion is a very deep title and successfully touched many people’s heart with its richness of emotional contents. For me, personally, there’s one thing in this inner-values that i want to emphasize. That is about relatability.
For some people, if not many, this anime has a very high relatability. This anime presents to us how reality works, in a very natural way. Thus, it’s pretty relatable.
This anime is not about what we want, instead it’s about what we need. And reality gives us just that in a very mysterious yet precise manner.
We want our loved ones to stay by our side forever and we take their existence as naturally for granted, but at one point of our life, reality separates us.
We want to be the best of one thing, of one profession, but reality won’t give us that title unless we spend our day trying and trying, despite our sweat and blood already dried out. It’s reasonable because it’s something that is achieved. We want that title, but we need a strength that equal to the weight of that title.
We are being kind, polite to other people, facing the world and our life directly, but then people seems to hate us. It’s because seeing us, people are reminded of their own weakness and decide to oppose us instead of their ownselves. Being kind needs to be strong. This, at least for me, really depicts the way reality works.
This anime definitely came unexpectedly right to our heart, like a lion.

SnS San no Sara is basically a mix between the first and second season of SnS title. This is quite visible when we see the technical quality that it presents. But this third plate holds more than those technical qualities alone. It holds potential and promise.
This third plate holds two different meat, which the first is called Moon Banquet Festival. This arc can be translated as a plot to show what those Elite 10 members are capable of, ranged from one of the lower ranked to the highest one. This results in a realization of strength gap between the MC and those members of the
...
Elite 10. It’s a far gap, but not far enough to say unreachable.
That first arc is presented in a tidy and well-structured way, maybe even more than that of the few earlier arcs in the first season. By no mean this Moon Banquet Festival arc is impactful, but we can feel a different, fresher breeze than what we feel in the second season. Yes, in a way, this arc stands as one of the most unique arc in SnS title.
Then comes the second meat, called Nakiri Azami’s arc. In here, comes the exiled demon lord which causes wreck and havoc here and there, in the name of salvation. While this arc is a very classical shounen-ic one, where there is a definite evil antagonist and the MC fight against him, and presented in a pretty straight-forward manner, this arc also represent one major thing that exist in the world of cooking, and more generally in the world of art.
This arc represent the clash of ideals between quality and originality. A quality that is regarded very high. The ephitome of objectivity and no one can deny. Only a few, gifted and selected ones truly capable to make this way into realization. All should follow this way and this way alone can bring the world of art (cooking) to a higher plane.
Against that, there’s originality. A way that emphasizes creativity and individual differences. A way that speak of enjoyment in venturing a stormy place called hardwork. Instead of talking about a very high sky, which everyone sees sky that way, this way talks about a never-seen sky.
When we see it that way, this arc holds a very big promise of the story in the future and realize that this arc is only the start. We will see how both sides struggle to defend their own ideals and that is something to be expected and enjoyed.
Despite the big promise that it holds, however, delivering it is a different thing to talk about. While we can see this arc as an exciting start of the wars that will come, at the same time we can feel that this arc is the start of a very big pitfall, that compares evenly with the Autumn Election arc. Nevertheless, enjoy the continuation of this third plate ~

SnS Ni no Sara begins with a battle. A battle that is depicted as incredibly unlucky and disadvantageous. A battle where the MC faces with one of the most formidable opponent. In metaphorical way, the first episode is a battle between a hero and the grand-daughter of the demon lord himself. The ominousity, the darkness that envelops the battle field, the semi-final boss’ giggles that send a chill down in our spine. This battle is so impactful and can be called as an epic......I wish i could say all of those.
After seeing the fail-adapted first episode and the almost non-existent opening plot, it’s only natural
...
that people’s expectation become low. Not only for a few episodes ahead, but can be for a whole season. This is one factor that makes this second plate pale in comparison compared to the first plate. The very first beginning of the story wanted to be epic and impactful, but what we find is an epicly fail-cooked adaptation from its original source.
After that beginning, only battles and battles await the viewers. Battles which speak of the characters personality, potential, strength, their struggle, their motivation etc – but it is only spoken without much development. And unfortunately, those battles are the main ingredients of this second plate.
Yes, those ingredients are fixed ones, can’t be changed – those ingredients were the first pitfall of its original source, and become trouble for the chefs in the anime production. Just be thankful for the viewers that can eat those ingredients in 2 and half months. The original source took more than a year.
But this second plate isn’t entirely worse. In a single glance, we don’t see any useless jello in this plate. The over-used abstract backgrounds are still there, but now being used in a more moderate way. In the first part of the first plate, what we hear from the characters are mainly their exotic voices, which is trying to emphasize their sexual strength instead of their personality. In this second plate, however, this doesn’t happen...not as much as the first plate. Technically, things are better cooked in the second plate.
As this anime is trying to fully adapt the original source as much as possible, which is commendable, there’s heavy challenge to adapt Saeki Shun-sensei’s style into an anime. His style has this “sharp” nuance, which may become a difficulty to be drawn into an animation.
But then, comes episode 4 of the second plate. Truly well-adapted episode that dwarfs all of its siblings. Episode 4 is a proof that a creatively cooked “bad ingredient” can be turned into something truly delicious.
