*No spoilers* (This is my first review, so it's probably not going to be the best)
Ok, so I want to preface this by saying that I don't go looking to watch bad anime, I found Charlotte due to a friend recommending it to me and telling me it was great. As such I expected some manner of quailty, but I was wrong. It is (to this day) the worst anime I've ever seen.
Charlotte is another high-school kids superpower anime but it has a twist, the powers are good but they have one massive flaw that makes them basically useless. Episode 1 spends most
...
of its run time introducing this power system and it does a really good job at it, but after episode 1 it gets bad...
Story: 1/10
The writing for Charlotte is some of the worst I've ever seen. The plot actually has more holes than Swiss cheese with the writing being ok at best and appalling at worst. As an example, there is a section in the story where many days/weeks pass in a single episode but Charlotte treats it as 1 day and moves on like it never happened.
After episode 1 the story gets very episodic and boring for about 5-6 episodes, but after is when the plot [s]holes[/s] really get going. Every episode from 7 to the finale has at least 3-8 plot holes in them, not even accounting for the nonsensical story and ending, trash pacing, and poor development of every introduced concept. I'm going into less detail for 2 reasons: This is a no spoilers review 1, and 2, if I went into detail this review would be wayyyy too long because there is just too much garbage to list.
Art: 6/10
The animation is meh. It really isn't good enough to justify watching the show. It's passing and stays that way. It has no real good moments or bad ones. There just isn't much time or passion into the animation which is a shame because while they don't make any modicum of sense Charlotte does have some moments that would be cool with good animation.
Sound: 5/10
Very forgettable sound track. Doesn't have a single track that makes me want to listen to it outside of the anime or ever again. There is nothing special about the sound at all, but could be so much better.
Characters: 3.5
The voice acting is fine, nothing special, however, Charlotte's cast contains some of the most flat, forgettable, and 2-dimensional characters one could hope for (excluding side characters). I can't even be bothered to remember their names.

Ending: 1/10
How a show ends is one of the biggest parts in my scoring. It hardly matters how good a show is if it lands the ending like a paraplegic gymnast. But luckily for Charlotte, you can't deduct points from 0. Charlotte's ending tries its best to be edgy, cool, and interesting but just like the rest of the show, the ending flops. According to the rules put in place by the show, the ending is pointless and ruins any chance for character development for the last episode.
Enjoyment: 0/10
I barely enjoyed a second of Charlotte after episode 1. With a truly horrendous story, characters, ending and everything else just being mediocre there is basically nothing to enjoy. Even the cool edgy ending Charlotte trys to pull off is completely worthless and unnecessary. Simply put, Charlotte is an anime with ZERO redeeming qualities.
Overall Rating: 1/10
Charlotte is terrible and to anyone thinking of watching it in the future, please don't. I had to make a list in order to keep track of everything this show does wrong. If you like the main character's power and hair, just go watch Code Geass instead.
