My GF is a big JuJu fan and had me witch it with her, finally made me interested in the series and stop being as stubborn of a contrarian in regards to seeing this series.
I loved the mc, I love seemingly pathetic guys rising to the occasion yet still staying themselves, plus he had a helluva lot more reason to be the way he is than some other character. Him using a katana as their weapon of choice is cringe though.
I still dont like all curses are evil, a theme that will always bring down in my opinion, but best curse girls presence midigated it

This is the most Iv been glued to my seat when I watched a Ghibli movie. Earwig was a very very endearing character, and I loved watching her get their way in the end. The ending can be a lil abrupt but with context it isnt bad, plus the whole charm and point comes from the middle half with the character interations. Most homie ghibli movie Iv seen. The first few episodes are Very Good. But very misleading, it gave the impression we'd be getting a political thriller about a isekai victim dealing with the intrigue and political landscape of a shifting aristocracy, with some hotties to boot. This is not what you get.
After the first main threat is dealt with, it rapidly shifts to a much more bland and unexplored Fantasy setting which you cant even properly enjoy cause your stuck with the worst person to explore it through, with a few interesting characters and plot threads dropped altogether to boot. It was a huge disappointment. Read "Lout of the Counts Family" instead, ...

Was great at the start, but slowly over the time as the mc grows more and more in power, and outpaces and sheds off the system that brought him so much power, it broadens, to its own detriment.
The best part of the series was seeing him overcome yet still be challenged and held back by certain power structures, as well as the interactions he had with his own shadows, friends, and family.
