Violet Evergarden travels the world as a letter writer for those who'd like assistance in writing letters to people. She helps characters from around the world and also inquires about these characters. The main difference between these two animes is that VE has an overarching love plot that develops throughout all of the episodes. She uses the experiences she's had with the world and the characters to develop her own understanding of the love plot. So if you're in the mood for episodic world travel and meeting new characters every episode --despite a few overarching episodes-- with a great love story mixed into it, then this will work perfectly for you.
