Kumo was a blast in the isekai genre. It was not grandiose by any means, but it certainly was better than people initially expected, especially in the beginning.
[!] Story: 8
The anime has two primary perspectives to tell: Kumoko's, and the human, Shun's. Albeit the plot itself could have been better managed, that is not much of an issue because the story is heavily focused on Kumoko's intense yet simultaneously comedic adventure; It's not everyday that you become so invested in a spider living her life in another world. That said, Kumoko's story
...
alone ultimately carries this entire show, even making up for the mediocrity of the human perspective.
[!] Art: 7
Despite the use of CGI, it was actually pleasant to see. The 3d models were smooth, detailed, and blended well when used in tandem with 2d art. This is also consistent throughout Kumoko's perspective. The overall art however, deteriorates the further one goes down the human perspective. Even the animators didn't bother to put much effort in the boring human side and instead focused on maximizing entertainment on Kumoko.
Sound: 9
The sound effects are generally good. What are more impressive however, are the voice acting for Kumoko and the songs used for the endings. The voice was very fitting for the comedic internal monologues of Kumoko, and the singing was just fire. Then again, the person who voiced Kumoko and sang both the endings is none other than Yuuki Aoi herself; truly splendid voice actor.
[!] Character: 9
Kumoko as the main character is not an understatement, she absolutely carried this entire show. Other characters are either just bland or outright annoying plot pawns. Meanwhile, Kumoko does not even need other people to be entertaining, as her own adventure and monologues are a gold mine for smile-inducing and laughter-bursting entertainment. Her battle experiences are also not just battles fought using pure brawn, dumb luck, or cliche excuses, she cleverly uses her skills, gathers info on her opponent, and takes advantage of their weaknesses while minimizing the potential of their strengths; An aspect that is rarely found in action shows these days: intelligence.
Enjoyment: 10
The most important factor for any form of entertainment, enjoyment. That said, if was not already obvious, I really evidently enjoyed this anime. Whenever a new episode came out, I start watching it with a smile on my face, eager to have a good time. Needless to say, Kumoko did not disappoint, and I truly enjoyed this anime all the way from start to finish.
Overall: 9
Instead of pondering whether to watch this anime or not, just try it! It certainly would be well worth the watch, and even in the case that you did not enjoy it, well at least you know for sure that you don't like it.
To conclude, if the sequencing of the plot was better planned, and if the art was more consistent on the human side, then this surely would have been a more beautiful and consistent show. However, despite those slight shortcomings, the fact remains that this is still a reasonably enjoyable anime; One that is harmless to try and watch.

Be advised:
- Sections with spoilers will be marked with "[!]"
- This review focuses on this cour of the anime season. Only slight references to the first season will be mentioned.
The first season was splendid, truly; 24 episodes with a fine story pacing, good animation, vast character cast, and enjoyable most of all. This second season however, was a lot more lacking.
[!] Story: 5
Having 12 episodes to fit the show's story for this season is not a problem at all especially since the series is still incomplete; The problem lies mostly in how the story was told. You have likely already heard from many others say
...
that the pacing was bad; I agree with them. There was too much time being spent on slow dialogue and flashbacks. The most prime example was during Rimuru's battle against Hinata. The fight could have been fit into one episode while remaining entertaining, but no, it had to take the second half of one episode - where a pointlessly long dialogue was present, and the first half of the next episode - where several minutes were spent on flashbacks to the previous episode... why would we need several minutes for a flashback of last episode? You may think that this is simple to fix, and you would likely be correct.
Art: 9
No qualms about the art, though. It thankfully was beautiful, smooth, thematic, and consistent. Clear signs that they added more flavor on the already good style from season 1.
Sound: 10
BOOM! What do you hear after a large explosion in this anime? LOUD hot air expanding, vibrating, and echoing across distances. It sure is not music, but it sure is realistically damn good to hear. You likely will not hear anything like it in many other shows. Personally the most enjoyable factor in this anime; it's the one grace that carried this season.
Character: 6
Anyways, yes, 6. The old set of characters from last season are fine, I find little issues with most of them. However, the newly introduced characters, mainly the antagonists, are the most problematic. The most accurate description I can give them is "incomplete". They simultaneously seem smart and dumb. Falmuth, the so-called trading center in the region, is ruled by a king. For such a prestigious nation, it must have good set of resources to stay alive, and a wise leader to handle the country. Not to say that kings necessarily have to be all-knowing, advisors exist for that reason, but the king of Falmuth... is there even anything he's good at, that he became a king of such a country?
Enjoyment: 7
Enjoyment comes in various forms. Discovery, theorizing, comedy, revelation, satisfaction, etc.. The show hits a check on many aspects. However, a single bad apple has the capability ruin a set of good apples. The worst bad apple here, was evidently the bad pacing. Fortunately for me, it does not affect me as much since like I said before, the story is not yet done. Fortunately as well, episode 11 in this season is very high in quality and really took out the bad apple. It truly speaks for its quality by making up for the previous episodes. Episode 12 meanwhile sets a good foundation for future events.
Overall: 7
Assuming of course that you have watched the first season, if you are going to watch this, just do take note that the pacing in most of the season is bad compared to last season, but that should NOT deter you from continuing to watch the series. There is still a lot more to tell, and Veldora is still inside Rimuru...
That concludes my review. Hopefully, the next cour has a more workable pacing.

(TL;DR is further below in "Overall")
The genres provided are "Adventure" and "Fantasy", which is true, but the main focus of this show lies in its comedy, which quite frankly it delivers with immense mediocrity and genericness.
Story: 4
To be fair, a comedy does not necessarily require a good story, so there is space for leniency on this matter.
However, if you seek to know how its story is written, then I will just say that it could only keep the viewer interested for about 4-5 episodes; After that, and there will be a struggle since there is no true main villain, and there is little expectation for
...
how the story progresses in the long run. Even then, the sequence of events is almost always predictable as one could have seen a particular sort of development already in other shows.
After all, the title of the anime asks a question, and the answer to that question is already answered in the first episode, and is just essentially repeated throughout the show.
Art: 4
Decent. They do put some details and the sync is often good, but the art and animation are too common a sight to see in comedy animations; one could say that it is even becoming old. Even the fight scenes are generic.
Sound: 5
The OP and ED are nothing special. Though, the sound effects and music timing are at least appropriate to the setting.
Characters: 3
We have all seen incredibly dense protagonists, Lloyd is no different. The side characters, which is again the typical abundant female cast, are all essentially charmed or will be charmed by either Lloyd's strength, his cuteness, or both; So much so that some go as far as being lustful (Lloyd is a kid, mind you). The male side characters are not exactly irrelevant, at least.
If there is one good thing I could say for the characters however, is how some of them were cleverly named.
Enjoyment: 4
Arguably the most defining factor for a comedy. The fact that I have given this a "4" is already a concerning matter. Strictly speaking, some dumb fun and generic humor is good, but that is that, it is generic, much of us here have already seen how most of the humor in this show is played, to the point of predictability, and if a comedy show becomes predictable, the enjoyment factor is of course already busted.
If someone tells you a joke that you have already heard, you will not burst out laughing, instead you will smirk or smile when it is an actual clever joke, but sigh when it is a corny and overused joke. The comedy here falls onto the latter.
Overall: 4
Simply put, this anime is not really abysmal to watch, but one can easily find another show that utilizes similar joke patterns and comedy formats; As such, I have dropped this show. I would advise spending your time watching way more entertaining shows (and perhaps even educational), though if you are simply looking to kill 25 minutes worth of your time, then by all means, this anime is more than enough for you.

BE ADVISED:
- This show is NOT for the faint- and weak-hearted. Target audience is for the mature. No matter if you like this show or not, it should be common sense that this is not something you should show to a 10 year-old.
- Some spoilers may be mentioned here, but I took care to minimize the impression and only mention those that are predictable at best.
- I have made a review about this before when it had 2 episodes; this is the updated version.
- This preliminary review will be written in the sense that the show is an "anime". I will write the review as
...
a "hentai" in another site. Because quite frankly this show pushes the boundaries as to what can be considered as an anime...
- Oh, and I think this goes without saying, but seriously, don't watch this while eating... that should be common sense as well.
~~
There are rarely any anime, or even mainstream shows at all that give an attempt at portraying a dark setting. In the anime circle so far only themes like war, gore, and brutality are ever pushed to a more realistic and uncensored extent. Such examples include Youjo Senki, Re:Zero, and Shingeki no Kyojin. Topics along the lines of slavery, rape, and drugs are often sugarcoated or minimized, ironically.
However, in Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi (Redo of Healer), so far, all of that concern for controversial topics is thrown out of the window, and seems to be on the path of a visceral story. Throughout the four episodes currently on air (at the time of this review), it does seem to be doing a good job. The fact that it pushed the boundaries as to what can be considered as an "anime" and garnered all this attention is proof of that.
Since it is quite a rather fresh entry to the industry, as of now, my overall rating will be at 7; it will change once the season has finished airing. We shall see if this show will continue to have the balls to depict a realistic, if not at least unconcerning, visceral story of a man who gets his revenge on his various enemies at the cost of his sanity and morality; While of course, not overusing the themes to the point of meaninglessness.
~~
Now, before you manga readers even start attacking me regarding what happens, do realize that I'm minimizing spoilers AND that this is a preliminary review, emphasis on preliminary.
Anyways, on some unrelated note, if the author really just intended to make a hentai, I wonder what led to the decision to make this an anime... but here's some food for thought:
HOW IS HE GOING TO GET REVENGE ON BULLET HMMMM????

Indeed, yet another isekai, very cliche, but what is wrong with that? We do not necessarily need a literary masterpiece to get a good dose of enjoyment, and this show is made with that in mind.
Story: 9
To me, the story is its best point. I find it to be interestingly unique for an isekai. Ryouma Takebayashi is summoned by a group of gods for him to start a new life in another world. However, he was not summoned simply because the gods wanted to summon him. He is also not the first otherworlder, and it seems that he will not be the last either. The
...
concept of magic is explained in a familiar manner, but much to the delight of Ryouma, and perhaps other individuals that like a explanation and creativity, there is much more to learn as to how this magic works and can be used. Bits of details regarding Seilfall's history are also shown and explained in a satisfactory frequency.
Another point is that despite having action, there is no apparent super villain and the overall plot remains peaceful, hence, we get an enjoyable fantastical slice of life story.
Art: 8
Pleasing to the eyes, no inherent lack of detail, and not inherently oversaturated. Loyal to its fantasy slice of life theme.
Sound: 7
Nothing to complain about. The appropriate sounds are also played according to the scene.
Character: 8
For the main characters, Ryouma and Eliaria, both of them are quite likeable. I barely even remember that Ryouma was once a grown adult unless the topic was brought up, and Elia, despite being a noble daughter, is not an annoying brat and does not easily fall under any of the typical popular female tropes. As for the side characters, I found not a single one of them to be annoying, though not all of them were given enough background likely due to lack of time.
Enjoyment: 9
I enjoyed it to the point that I went ahead and read the light novel, which further fueled my interest in the story and characters.
Overall: 8
Watch the show without any prejudice regarding isekai anime. That way, you will enjoy the show hopefully as much as I did.
In a bit of an unrelated note though; After reading the LN, I think a second season does not seem to be in sight due to some alterations with the progress of events and some characters and details being left out (albeit not enough to cause large plot holes for this season) which could cause some confusion when these characters are suddenly introduced should a season 2 come, but this is just a hypothesis.
EDIT: Well, prove me wrong. Season 2 seems to be confirmed.
