I'll try to keep this review short, because I don't think there is much to be said. Also, English is not my first language, so please pardon my mistakes.
Shingeki no Kyojin is basically the perfect anime to get people into anime. Great art, great soundtrack, great fighting choreography and interesting mysteries to be solved. However, the anime's weak spots lie on characters and plot. I'll explain why.
Art - 9: There isn't much to be said here, this anime is famous for its art. The only reason why I didn't give it a 10 is due to minor visual glitches and some ugly CGI here and

Death Note

This was the last anime that I thought I'd need to write a review for because I thought it was universally acclaimed, but when I stumbled upon this reviews section I found out I was unfortunately wrong. As it always goes with popular things, people feel the need to show others they dislike Death Note so they come off as cool and indie, and make use of poor argumentation and sheer lack of understanding of the anime in order to do so. I don't need to talk about all the great things Death Note has to offer because other people already did that, so I'm
...
just going to address poor arguments and misconceptions that commonly plague negative reviews so I can, hopefully, prove they're wrong.
1) "L was supposedly the best but somehow he was surpassed by Near and Mello" --> Lawliet's death is usually people's greatest argument to discredit Death Note (and give ridiculously low scores such as 6 or 4 just out of pure spite lol), and that shocks me because it is literally explained a million times in the anime. The reason why Mello and Near could accomplish what Lawliet couldn't is because, even though none of the 2 can match Lawliet's intelligence, when they work together they can even surpass him. That's precisely the whole point, I don't understand how the literal point of the entire second season can be considered an inconsistency. The only thing more bizarre than that claim is when people say L's death was incoherent because he had been getting the upper hand for a while before he died. Again, it was the entire point of the first season, showing that not even the most intellectually enlightened human can surpass the power of the divine. He would've literally gotten Light arrested if he hadn't been killed (which means he was the smartest out of the 2 and that statement in the anime wasn't indeed incoherent), but a literal shinigame intervened and sacrificed himself to stop him, and there was nothing a mere human could do about it. "However gifted you are you alone can't change the world." (Literally Lawliet). 2) "L/Kira/N/M predict the future and make asspulled assumptions" --> I find it funny that everytime someone uses this argument, the person never uses an example of an "asspull" or a hypothesis created by one of the characters based on unsubstantial evidence. Literally never. "Either L needs to know something and the show creates a situation in which he somehow obtains that information, or L makes an assumption and the show arranges itself such that the assumption is true and then provides some reason for why the assumption is logical and not, indeed, an ass-pull, when really every single one is an ass-pull." (NegativeFeelings, MAL user). Examples please??? "Twists are as heavy handed as they are predictable, Plot holes appear every minute, The characters become less and less believable and well, kind of stupid. There's instances in the series where a character would have to be a complete moron to fall for what's going on." (BigBagODicks, MAL user). Examples please (not to mention the clear need to express how smart he is by saying he predicted all twists, but yeah, it's a common trait among people that dislike popular stuff just because they're popular lol)??? "While this story had a few plot twists, none of them were really that twisty [...], considering that I wasn't really surprised by any of them" (LordBeefBurger, MAL user). Examples please??? Also the need to show how smart you are because none of the twists were twisty enough to surprise your galaxy brain lol but anyways..."Light somehow predicts things that he could not possibly have the foresight to predict, because, you know, probability is a thing. Don’t worry though, it’s not like you know that he’ll always win, because L possesses this exact same unexplained and ludicrous ability to predict the future; he just does so without a cheesy 'Just as planned' catchphrase that makes me want to shoot myself every-time I hear it." (Polyphemus, MAL user). Examples please??? So yeah, that's all you're gonna get when reading negative reviews lol people criticizing the show's consistency without providing a single evidence, just so they can glorify their own intellectual better-than-this-mainstream-crap selves. 3) "The amount of time spent with the characters theorizing and attempting to predict the opponent's next move is tiring" --> So...you don't like thinking lol is that your point?? "[...] all I could get watching it was fucking stupid monologues in which Light and L where ridiculously guessing each other thougts. Here it's an example of a joke I found on a spanish web (Inciclopedia) of an hypothetical battle of "Rock-paper-scissors" between Light and L: '(YAGAMI LIGHT THINKING): The most logical to do would be play rock; L must know this, because of what he would probably play paper, and to defeat him I must play scissors. But: what if he discovered my plan? If that's what it is, to beating my paper he would play scissors, and therefore I should keep playing rock. But maybe he tought that I would think this way, so I must play paper...'. This is a fun example of what I belive is pretty much all you can find on Death Note. Really: this is what this anime is about. At the beginning is 'ok', but then it just gets dummer and dummer, and in my case finished in the desire of killing the screenplayer." (Laurete, MAL user). So yeah...your point actually is that you'd rather watch 10 minutes of Goku kicking Majin Boo's butt. Solid argument I'd say lol 4) "Light is too perfect" --> So...you dislike the literal point of Light's character...? Lol and it isn't like he's that unrealistic, the anime establishes him as one in a million when it comes to intelect, and we have some famous Lights in the world nowadays. We have Shakira and Faouzia, two women that speak 6 languages each, have mastered basically all areas of art, have always had stellar academic performances, are great at sports, are stunningly beautiful, incredibly charismatic and are rich. Same goes for Henry Cavill, and he's even a gamer too. Light is simply just like that lol it's not like he can fly or something, he's just a very lucky bastard that has been gifted with all qualities, and that's the point of the anime's premise. I could keep on debunking stupid arguments made only for the sake of being edgy, but I have better stuff to do so I'm out lol bye

Shockingly, this hentai is good enough for me to actually watch it for the plot, specially since I'm not into those pissing stuff and scat stuff. Like, for real, I started watching it for the hot girl and the violence, but it got to a point (around episode 2) in which the anime became so disturbing I couldn't get aroused anymore, so I started watching it for the plot, and I don't regret it a bit. I'll try to be objective with this review (also excuse any grammar mistakes, I'm not a native speaker). Keep in mind, tho, it's not going to be spoilers-free, even
...
though I strongly believe the spoilers don't worsen the experience, I actually believe they do the opposite. Also, please don't make the "it's hentai, don't take it seriously, it's just meant for jacking off" argument, you just sound dumb by making it. Anyways, here we go:
Plot: Pretty good, but not lacking its fair share of holes. I don't see why the police couldn't find the kidnapper when he was obviously recorded by the security cameras at the konbini lol and it's also never explained how could the girl specifically call the police yet have the call redirected to the kidnappers phone. It's never a good thing to leave unexplained plot points, the spectator shouldn't be forced to theorize over unexplained stuff that can have many different explanations but don't make sense unless one of those possible explanations is actually shown. Same goes for the police showing up at the ex-boyfriend's house lol how did they find out the cellphone belonged to him? It's never shown to us, we're left to create a non-existing plot inside our heads, and that's not good storytelling. Still, I believe the general goal of the plot was fully achieved, and it was done fairly consistently, but it's impossible to ignore the inconsistent aspects, specially since the entire plot is based on the kidnapper not being found by the police for a long time, and that doesn't really make sense when there are literal recordings of him on the security cameras that every fucking konbini in Japan has, and if that specific one didn't, it should've been shown to the viewer. The last important thing I want to mention is the money situation. How did the kidnapper manage to live alone and pay his own bills when it's told he's unemployed? And if he wasn't, how would the anime handle the moments when the girl's alone? It would not only make much more sense for him to be employed, but it would also generate many plot possibilities of the girl maybe asking for help, or trying to escape, or even talking to herself and exposing her inner thoughts to the viewer through that, since we have no idea of what's going on in the girl's head (I'll elaborate on this later). The thing is this maybe would've handicapped the anime's success with its audience, since I believe most people who'd watch this just want to masturbate to a girl being tortured, but this is just an explanation, and doesn't justify the flaws. Characters: Also pretty good, but have their share of inconsistencies. It's never explained if the kidnapper genuinely thinks there's a demon inside the girl, or if it's just a silly excuse for him to fuck her. It makes total difference, makes you watch the anime through different lenses. That's specially true when it comes to the scene where the girl is pregnant and the dude says she has "become a monster" or is "generating a monster" I don't precisely remember but it's something along those lines. This scene has different meanings depending on the kidnapper's thoughts. Also, it's never shown to the viewer what's going on inside the girl's head. It's impossible to know if her change of heart was just a plan for her to gain the kidnapper's trust and escape, or if she was genuinely starting to like him and like being used in general, or even if she was just going crazy. All interpretations are possible, and, in this case, this is not a good thing. Don't be pulling that Kubrick shit up on me, ambiguity is nearly always a bad thing, and the entire anime basically can be interpreted differently depending on what line of though do you think the girl was going for. This issue probably could've been fixed by not making the protagonist unemployed, since the girl would've some time alone to think and expose to the viewer what's her deal, and the same could've happened to the kidnapper while he's at work, leading to better understanding of their characters and better development overall. As I said before, tho, this would've probably annoyed people who just want to jack off, but needs to be pinpointed still. Replay value: I'll give it a 5 or 6. If you're someone who feels sexually aroused by watching such disgusting, violent and disturbing imagery (not judging, for real), then it's probably a 10 due to the fact that the disturbing content is constantly shown and you're probably going to be constantly aroused. If you're watching it for the plot, however, I'd say it's a 1, because the plot is definitely good but not good enough for you to want more and feel the need to watch it again. Also, the disturbing imagery might throw you off (like it did to me) if you don't want to wank. I'm serious. I'm into some spanking, some hardcore beating is sometimes nice, even rapeplay and ropeplay arouse me, but this shit is on a whole another level. It envolves pissing, pooping, fisting, intense physical and psychological damage, gore...it's not for the weak, and it's definitely way beyond my Isle. I don't see a reason to rewatch it if you're not into all of this stuff, but if you are, then hippity hoppity. Art and sound: Having impeccable art and sound quality is basically a staple nowadays, so it's not shocking the anime excels at that. I don't consider censorship a flaw, it's just how things usually go in Japan so yeah. I think the highlights of the anime are the bruises on the girl's skin, her ass and the kidnapper's dick. The bruises are drawn smoothly and look very real, which for me was a highlight because I think that's hot, but if you're not into bruising during sex then maybe it's not important to you (just like maybe someone thought the scene of fisting the girl's pussy until it's torn apart was one of the highlights, but I didn't because for me that's not something that appeals to my taste). The girl's butt for me was also drawn very skillfully, like, the boobs were beautifully drawn, but the butt was on a whole another level of attention to detail and precision every time. Lastly, the guy's dick for me was definitely a highlight despite being censored. I'd argue it was drawn as well as the girl's pussy and asshole, which is a rare thing in hentai, a genre in which the girls are drawn exquisitely and the guys are a conjunction of like 5 curved lines colored with 2 shades of brown lol. In fact, the kidnapper is overall very well-drawn and is very pretty, which brings much joy to my bissexual heart lol y'all have no idea how hard it is to find anime in which a hot guy bangs a hot girl instead of an ugly bastard with a greek goddess lol specially with BDSM and overall violence involved, it's like 90% of the time an ugly bastard. Anyways, I do recommend this anime if you're watching it for the plot or for the sex, it's nice both ways, but only if you're comfortable with disgusting imagery (or at least can take it for 4 episodes). Thank you so much for reading my review :D
