A spy story that is unique? Sign me upppppppppp! So i first got into this manga from a YT recommendation and I'm grateful i did because this is an incredible story with a lot to offer.
Story 10/10
The story is well thought out and simple, yet can be complex in between the lines. This follows Loid, the spy, Anya, the esper, and Yor, the assassin as they balance their secrets, life, and work. Every character and moment has a purpose that adds on to the story, it's not just there for the audience reaction. It's there to lead the reader on through the story without

just explaining it in a boring way like other mediums sadly like to do. Although most mangas are show don't tell, Spy x Family is excellent in doing that by spreading out messages from character's lines, movements, and settings unique to the characters. Loid's words are proper and his mannerisms show how professional he is, Yor is improper but strong, this is shown from her misunderstanding of basic things but the terrifying aura that surrounds her when angered, Anya's mispelling and speech patterns show that she is a child while her wide eyes paint her as a caring and loving daughter. Her expressions display her deep empathy but also her desire for approval from those she loves the most.
Art 9/10
It's expressive, fun, and detailed. Different textures of lines and thickness of lines displaying moments in order to make the reader feel an emotion from the panel. When characters are angry or feeling intense emotions it's displayed from a scratchy scribbly style that creates an terrifying feeling. Dulled eyes, thick lines for out there in your face facial expressions. The attention to detail of items and buildings is also thoroughly explored telling stories about the setting. Although i do not give this a 10/10, it's definitely great art that i want to give a 10 but just can't
Characters 10/10
The characters in this story bring something to the table and are faaaar from boring. Even the side characters who seem to only be there half of the time. Spy x Family treats it's characters like Arcane. Those that aren't deep written characters are still used to present aspects of the story and the setting. These characters are thoughtly crafted with their quirks and statements which packs a punch in the moments that conflict. For these reasons, an EASY 10/10.
Enjoyment 10/10
What can i say? I love it, i adore it, and I am so glad this manga is getting more attention. I consistently read this and buy the physical copies, so i would figure that i enjoy this quite a bit. Also, i really like spy stories B)
Overall 10/10
Overall it does it's job and does it really well. The attention to detail and the balance of comedy, slice of life, and action make for a damn good read. Usually genre mixers are excellent forms of entertainment and this one does not disappoint.
(Im a little tired so sorry if my gushing review is messy but who cares? It's just a website, i shouldn't worry LOL)
