wrong to think this guy is kind of kool? Oooo. The birds are flying in figure 8 patterns. This is looking quite wonderful so far. People who do not say much are either plotting something evil or believe actions speak louder than words and only when necessary. There are crosses and gadgets peeking from the ground. A bridge above abandoned buildings. Valid. Tell it to him. Ew he claims she is even prettier when she is angry. And then he tries to shoot her. She is exposed. They are trying to send her to a camp. There is no shame in crying when there is good reason. But she needs his smile, not his tears. Pray tell. Something is accusing him of having a destructive destiny. He thinks that it is impossible for him to fall in love. Tomorrow is the blood moon, which means girls are safe because vampires believe they are unclean. He returned two years ago. It is said he is 5000 years old. The old vampires like him are almost invincible. It begins. He had a face on his hand. He turns off the defenses to go out and fight seemingly. She has the sweetest blood in 1000 years. He meets a mutant that can twist space around him. Ends up, stabbing him himself instead of his enemy. He is half vampire. Visitors from the past shall return to the darkness from which they came. His strength shall make his destruction, more fun. She calls upon her ancestor Dracula. He is riding to the castle on his cyborg horse. He jumps over the moat. He is greeted by many mutant attendees. He clears a path with his wrist watch. A place where diabolical creatures assemble. He is knowingly walking into a trap. He punches through the wall. He was ordered to be sent elsewhere. He is sent underneath into the catacombs. The results of a war that happened 10,000 years ago. He Wade’s in the magic lake. He is in snared by the three sisters. His eyes seek danger, not love. She uses her tongue to save her allies. He can create a screen with his smoke. His fangs grow. He stops the assassination just in time. This castle underneath is technologically up-to-date. This includes a wild mixture of futuristic and medieval themes. His hand feasts upon the bugs. He escapes with her into the forest. The boomerang takes out the enemies ally. His name is D. The town has neon signs. They have security cam footage of the messengers. This is great so far. A kidnapping occurs. A place of tall abstract structures. The candle went out. They are going to a sanctuary from evil. I had a feeling something was up with this guy, from the moment he said to turn off the barrier. She would rather be dead than a vampire. A bright light from an unfortunate face. She would rather die than be complemented by this guy. Nice, he is sent off a cliff. He has a code of honor that does not not allow killing without necessity. Okay. She permits him to loose control. He knows she loves him. His father was none other than someone special. He loses to a candle. A steak is driven through him. His hand is severed, but it crawls back. A brief interlude in the long years of an endless life. He wants to have fun every hundred years or so. His hand is quickly eating dirt. And air. He wakes up just in time. How did he get here? The hooded figures are bringing them to their ceremony. He is sliding down and navigating an advanced tubular system. He is flung into an endless pit. He is challenging his master. Destroys the candle, just by widening his eyes. The candle that worked against d. The ceremony is commencing. The audience is chanting. He tells the vampire to go back to the abyss of oblivion. He is thrown around the room. He is going to be killed by the sword that he killed so many others with. Both are stabbed. He is Dracula. D is the son of Dracula. She claims her only reason for living is to be royalty. And wants to be crushed by the castle as it crumbles to the ground. The environment flashes with the colors of many nights and days. He leaves, and they are only barely able to say goodbye.
Thoughts: That was wonderful. My initial impression I think it is a solid nine. I feel like the final fight was a little short and anti-climactic. But it was good enough. I also would have liked to no more about this guy that was on his hand, I very much liked it as a concept, and the execution, but I wasn’t really sure who it was or why they were there, so I think it would have been beneficial if like one additional piece of information was provided about this hand guy. I’m not sure about the mention of the camp at the beginning as it didn’t seem to be a relevant enough concept to justify how many lines of dialogue it got, But honestly, these criticisms are so microscopic. It really doesn’t matter. It looked great the whole time. And the story was pretty solid. The setting was quite unique. It being set in the ruins of something ancient and having a mixture of futuristic and medieval visuals was great. The creatures were interesting. As we know visuals this kind and style, earn a lot of points with me. An interesting futuristic setting, abstract, futuristic gadgets in an archaic village, a Royal Castle with alien architecture and technological systems inside, unique creatures, Something about the house had some serious vibes, And technically, the horses were cyborgs, which means there was a little bit of robots as well. And the castle technically didn’t crumble, but it was destroyed, so it essentially had it all. I think if I was capable of being attracted to the main character, this might have gotten a 10. I always saw that this film was recommended as similar to many of the other greats, And I waited so long because I assumed it was some normal vampire story. I was incredibly pleasantly surprised by how this turned out, and what it turned out to be. it is good.
Irrelevant:
I wanted to put this information somewhere so I figured why not put it here. Sorry for including this irrelevant clarification, but I believe it is relevant to how I leave reviews, and thus is appropriate as it is information that some readers may be interested in. All of the following is not directly related to Vampire Hunter D!
Recently, I have been taking notes on every piece of art within this medium that I consume. And additionally posting them on this website. I’m not really sure why, there isn’t an express reason, but I feel compelled to do it, perhaps it is helping gain a better appreciation, perhaps it is just an excuse to write, perhaps it is proof to the future that I have watched these things. So someone can know how I felt while watching these. I don’t know, but I generally enjoy it. I am writing all of these using text to speech so, And I am not really editing them before posting them, so there is times where it writes things that are different from the words that I say. Also When it comes to movies, the only way to post about it is by making a full review. Thus why I am going to leave full reviews on movies that are nothing much more than a summary. Also while I am at it, might as well make a key here:
DD: this means that it was watched prior to fully coming up with all the major ideas for Leviathan part one.
DDD: this means that it was watched during dingdong, the event where I feel the last major details for part one where discovered.
BB: this means that it was watched after dingdong but before I actually wrote the book for Leviathan part one.
DB: This means that it was watched while I was writing the book for Leviathan part one.
AB: this means that it was watched after I finished writing the book for Leviathan part one.
AB~R: this means you can see my review for some of the episodes in this series. After I started taking notes, I then did it on every thing I watched. (other than one episode of Astro boy.)
AB-R: this means you can see my review for every episode in the series.
ABXR: This means that it was watched during the period of time when I started taking notes, But it did not seem appropriate to make notes on it or I did not want or feel the need to post them.

Death in the middle of love.
And then everyone dies as they fly away.
that was great. I’m feeling a 9 so far. It gets rated so high purely because of how it looks. It is sort of like X the movie, When it comes to the actual story, it is odd and disjointed. Frankly, I am biased when it comes to these types of things and if it looks good, I will enjoy it. And this looks good in the ways that will specifically appeal to me which are: Futuristic city landscapes/environments. Mechanical mechanisms and gadgets/technological visuals. Alien creatures/settings. (Technically robots but it only has a little of that.) The destruction of the previously mentioned things. When I say looking good, I’m not even referring to the women at all, I could pretty much care less. The blue one was OK until she was revealed to be a flaca apologist. I felt like the whole plant should have came alive. There was even a brain at the top of the plant that I think could have been part of the end goal of the evil scientist. The cat creature should have showed up later and the blue lady should have saved them when the cat did. And then the cat should have brought some sort of ship that would be capable of dealing with the awaken facility. As the facility kept seemingly activating and coming together, but it never really became something new. If the rocks were secretly alive, which, by the way was a concept, I greatly enjoyed, Then using whatever was learned to bring them back alive could have been used to bring the building itself alive as well. I did feel it was odd that the woman instantaneously fell in love with the criminal who groped and punched her. for something with such a provocative name it had a strangely small amount of fan service, or maybe it just didn't appeal to me. The story is just barely passable enough for me to feel a high rating is deserved as the visuals are extremely appealing to what I enjoy looking at. One of the better pieces of cyberpunk I have experienced. A low 9 that could drop. 5

Mugen no Ryvius
(Anime)

Infinite Ryvius is an absolute masterpiece. It is easily one of the best anime ever made. It is the most underrated anime I have ever watched. It is quite insulting and saddening to see so many people consider such a Goliath of Creativity to be anything close to Mid. The Ryvius is practically the Dingdongmenship itself. A True Vibrational Titan. I recognize that this show has a lot of things that are going to appeal to me specifically, As it is a 90’s Futuristic Psychological Mecha show. Yet even acknowledging all of this, I am still so confused why it is rated so low.
Infinite ... Ryvius Isn't just really good, it's nearly perfect. But it is not perfect, and we will be starting with the negatives. Firstly, there are many big questions that are not answered during the show. Infinite Ryvius Has a lot of mystery going on throughout the story, and it doesn't reveal much directly when it comes to Why these things are happening. You get little hints throughout the show and at the end of the show it leaves you with those little hints and never says it directly. At many times there would be references made to seemingly crucial events that happened in the past, and shows you little bits and flashes of what happened, but never actually directly shows it or tells you what occurred. This is also coupled with How there is a fair amount of recap, so it is not as if they didn't have time to answer these questions. The show is filled with a lot of high quality powerful moments that are very densely packed together, so this recap is Justified to a certain point, but there is just a little too much of it especially towards the end of the show. If Infinite Ryvius was to be considered a perfect show it would have spent the time it spent recapping towards the end answering some of these crucial questions. Of course it is best to leave some things unanswered, but I feel that not all of these questions are best left unanswered, as the events of the story do not make sense to be occurring without an explanation, and it would have only been satisfying to get an explanation. One other thing that I wouldn't consider to be a true flaw, but could be confusing to many Watchers, is that Infinite Ryvius Has a lot of characters. The first time I was watching The first part of the show there were a couple scenes with the same character I did not realize were the same character. The show gives its characters realistic designs which means not all of the important characters have Super memorable character design. I think that this show needs to have this many characters to properly tell its story, and I wouldn't necessarily even prefer if these characters had more Distinctive Designs, But in order to fully appreciate the show you have to pay a little bit of attention to who is who. (Technically I also noticed an error or two.) But other than these, the show is generally flawless. The Vibes are essentially unrivaled. It is where the show shines, yet it is a little hard to explain the concept of this vibe. It is basically a mix of everything, I am already a big fan of the general art style and feel of anime from this time period. It was interesting seeing the extreme contrast between the wholesome everyday moments and unprecedented traumatic events that happened to these fictional characters. Towards the beginning you can really feel the tension growing, and it is clear that as the show progresses things are going to fall apart more and more, the journey from order to chaos. The way that this show makes that transition was very satisfying to experience. It was also fascinating to see the constant struggle between competence/ability and Power, As the ones who knew how to keep them alive, were not always fit to lead, and the ones that may be more fit to lead, did not always have the skills to keep them alive. All of these primitive feelings and emotions that exist within all humans, now without guidance or restraint are all exposed, many aspects of who these characters are are brought to the surface, While others are forced to no longer exist. The extreme feelings of not being able to do anything, when something must be done. The extreme feelings of having to trust in the ones who betrayed you in order to survive. The concepts of understanding/accepting the past, learning from it, or leaving it behind. The context the story exists Within is just so fascinating, it always left me Very interested in learning What would happen next. This show makes Incredible commentary on society and human nature, the context of the show is better to make commentary of this nature then similar Concepts such as Lord of the Flies, and it is completely unique from that, as this context has many More people, enough so a small isolated Society actually forms, as well as they have many more resources, yet not an infinite amount, as well as they have technological assistance. What happens in the show is just like what happens in our reality, although because of the age of the characters, many of the layers of deception in which we hide these negative aspects are blatantly brought out into the open. It is an incredibly fascinating situation of being completely free from everything they used to feel outside, yet now subject to an even more extreme tyranny from within. I found essentially all of the characters to be incredibly relatable or realistic, and the points in which it wasn't it was just So it could do something interesting. All of the characters are all forced to work together in order to survive, and there's this constant struggle between wanting one's own comfort, yet needing to survive in order to achieve this. The soundtrack is incredible and perfectly compliments the show, it Seamlessly switches between magnificent orchestral compositions and classical Hip Hop Grooves that match and enhance the environment. It is the only anime that I have watched where after finishing the show I went to go listen to the original soundtrack, And I was even more impressed once I listened to that on its own. The show has three soundtracks, The third one is seemingly just whoever was in charge making their own album, but I was pretty offended when they started calling it M. i. D. Kool depictions of futuristic Technologies. The concept that connects all the planets is amazing, it makes the story feel connected, as well as enhancing the visuals especially of the action, Allowing this interesting mix of spaceship and sea ship like Moments of visual splendor. The action in the show is also incredible, it is space Mecha action like I have never seen before. Each one of these altercations Has amazing animation, is each incredibly interesting and unique, and during the show scales up in a seamless Ark. It employs this unique concept of solids, so during the fights there is a whole group of them that is Frantically decrypting ciphers and coding out each action at the robot is taking, and seeing his whole group of individuals furiously typing Made the command room scenes of the fights feel very active and engaging. It also perfectly mixes these fight scenes along with the interpersonal dramas that are arising on the ship. And the place where this show truly shines is in The moments in between the characters on the ship. During the later episodes of the series, I found myself after watching each episode I would have to take a break to process what I had just witnessed. I was blown away by each consecutive section of the story That was revealed. It does a great job of breaking down the unique psychological situation that the story has provided, and naturally integrating it so that these analyses are a necessary part of How the story is told. The character that they used to do this was also genius. Although it was one of my criticisms, I believe that the mystery of this story is one of the best parts of it. For me when stories have extreme elements of Mystery Like this it makes it more enjoyable and inspires me to want to watch even more. I can fully acknowledge that There may be additional flaws that I am completely looking past because of how much this show does Perfectly. I believe that this is a legendary anime, one of the greatest of all time. Extraordinarily underrated. If you are a fan of Space, Mecha, or psychological anime, I would consider this to be a must watch. A True 10.

Get this garbage out of #1. It is embarrassing for us as a community. This medium contains the highest of possible art, the deepest and most meaningful of story; yet this show is not amongst that. This is a sloppy collection of annoying characters and intentionally mundane meaningless plot lines. The vibes are not cozy, the moments are not wholesome, and the show is not good.
I will not be holding back at all with this review and I will be holding this show to the highest possible standard. If it Is truly the best show it should hold up against the highest level of ... criticism. I will start with the positives. Freeren is number one amongst all anime in one aspect. The first outro of Freeren is the greatest anime outro I have ever seen. It is absolutely gorgeous and compliments the show perfectly. For a show that is supposed to focus on the stuff in between the action, the action is pretty much the only enjoyable part, and a lot of it is quite good. There are two arcs of the story that I found generally quite enjoyable. These are between episode 7 and 10, and between episode 18 and 21. This series contains one episode that I would consider to be really good, that being episode 9. This episode features two very high quality fights that have multiple points where I found myself rewinding to rewatch sections of the animation because they were so well done, which is something I do not do very often. I do not mind the characters Fern and Shtark. I enjoyed many of the moments that these characters shared, And will admit that some of these moments could even be considered mildly wholesome, although I do not take back my previous statement. I also didn't mind a couple of the Mages they added during the Mage exam. Many of the monsters and demons have great designs, and many of the landscapes and settings looked quite nice. There are a few high quality moments of small intricate dingdongmenship relating to ideas such as memories and flowers. Now onto the negatives. If something is to be considered the greatest show, I would say a reasonable minimum requirement is that it doesn't contain any mistakes. This is not a standard that Freeren meets, There are many objective writing errors in the show. This is not my opinion, this is A fact about the show. None of them that I was easily able to catch were that significant or seriously affected the show, yet they are still there. For example I will break one down in detail so you can understand what I am saying. In episode 15 there is a quick flashback where Freeren Is caught by a mimic right in front of Fern. Although it is not directly shown, This scene logically requires that one of the two following options has happened. Option one is that Fern gets Freeren out of the mimic, requiring that Fern learns how you get someone out of a mimic. Option two is that Freeren gets out of the mimic herself, Requiring that Fern learns What happens to Freeren’s hair when she gets herself out of a mimic. By episode 15, Fern is required to have learned a minimum of one of those two pieces of information. In episode 23 there is another scene, in the present, of Freeren getting caught in a mimic, In this scene Fern reveals that she does not know how to get someone out of a mimic, as she has to be told by Freeren how to do it. Fern then immediately reveals that she also does not know what happens to Freeren’s hair when she gets herself out of a mimic, as Fern has the aha moment of “So that's why sometimes you show up with a completely different hairstyle.” It is impossible for Fern to be learning both of those pieces of information at that point in the story, yet this is what the scene is. If one was to intake extreme quantities of copium, A scenario could technically be invented where During the events of the original flashback Fern was separated from Freeren while she was still in the mimic, and then Freeren Gets out of the mimic by herself, and they remain separated for long enough for Freeren’s hair to go back to normal. Yet this scenario of course requires a pretty extreme assumption, along with the assumption that on their previous Journeys Freeren was only caught by a mimic that one time in front of Fern, as well as this Behavior requiring a pretty significant bad-girlesk break of Character for Fern. Thus this is an objective writing error. Again this small little detail does not really affect the story in any meaningful way, but in my opinion something that is considered the best should not contain errors like this. Two more examples of Inconsistencies. Once they enter the northern lands it is the beginning of winter, and it begins to snow, and thus they find a cabin to stay in, they then stay in this cabin for 6 months to wait out the winter. At the end of this sixth month period, at the beginning of Summer, it is still snowy all around them. The next scene, presumably happening in the middle of summer, is them getting caught in another blizzard and having to find shelter again. (Freeren during this time also reveals that she does not know any spell that produces any type of heat, fire spells do exist yet she does not know a single one.) They could have justified this scene by simply saying something along the lines of, they're traveling through the mountains now, so the weather is like this even in the middle of summer, and if it was winter then it would be 20 ft of snow or something. But they don't do this, it doesn't explain, it just gives us the characters stuck in a blizzard in the middle of summer and expects us to figure out why. It feels like they were so obsessed with having time pass that they forgot to have time actually pass. Early on in the show there is a section where Freeren and Fern decide to clean a massive beach for a fake book. We are then treated to a couple of scenes where Freeren, the most powerful Mage in the world, is picking up 10 little pieces of wood at a time. It then clarifies that Freeren and Fern stay here and are cleaning this beach for 3 months, meaning that both of these Mages have spent a minimum of 3 months exclusively training their floating magic ability. Later on in the show it attempts to justify why Freeren was only capable of picking up small quantities of wood at a time, by saying that no one other than demons and monsters had the ability to fly or float until very recently. (And although spells being made recently is an advantage for things such as zoltrock derived spells it's not for floating Magic.) And even though we know they spent months exclusively training this ability they are barely able to actually use it when they need to. And at the end we see an elf using floating Magic 1,000 years before the events of the story, which from my understanding is not a monster or a demon. It's just sloppy, weird little inconsistencies like this shouldn't exist in the best show ever. Now onto the character of Freeren. I do not like this character. First of all this character is an elf, and elves live a long time. She is very proud of this aspect of her existence, and she will bring up how old she is and brag about it every chance that she gets. Yet at the same time if anyone else brings up how old she is she gets insecure about it. She is extremely selfish and narcissistic most of the time, but then sometimes decides to be absurdly generous. At the funeral for her friend, She begins to cry, and she clarifies that the reason she is crying is not for them, but because she feels bad for herself because she didn't get to know him as well as she would have liked. This is the same friend that she had spent the last 50 years ignoring for no reason other than she was too distracted in pursuit of her own personal Joy. If time is truly that abundant for her it would have been no issue for her to send a couple of letters back and forth, at the absolute minimum at least once every couple years but she couldn't even manage that. It only takes 10 years to make it across the planet, so she was likely in his vicinity a couple of times assuming that she was just wandering around the southern lands. This strange feeling of guilt is the thing that inspires this whole story, Yet she is fully responsible for how she feels. If she had just acted like a normal person She wouldn't have this issue in the first place. She has had hundreds of years to learn how to act mature and she still doesn't. It also doesn't make sense why she is having these feelings in the first place, As there is only one person that she has ever known better than Himll, this being her master. Meaning that in comparison to pretty much everyone she has ever known she knew him very well. And she is making the judgement that she didn't know him very well based off of a singular slightly deeper relationship that she had 1,000 years earlier. It is impossible to have any sympathy for Freeren, in her 1,000 years on that planet she should have learned how to have/be a friend, And it never gives any reason as to why she is so closed off to everyone. Just the fact that she is old and from some perspectives it doesn't matter as much, Doesn't work to explain it very well. I think that the character is pretty annoying as well, I usually like characters that are annoying, but not like this. The way that she acts around grimoires is so contradictory to the way she acts around everything else that it feels like she is breaking character and doesn't feel like some natural quirk. It feels like an excuse that is employed to get this character to do anything, as without it the character wouldn't be willing to do anything. Any good character is flawed, as this is how a character develops, they have a flaw at the beginning and have character development by changing. Yet, at the end of this series there's a scene where an old lady drops her basket of goods onto the ground right in front of Freeren, It would take Freeren essentially no effort at all to help out this old lady, The show clarifies that in this moment the thought to help this old lady crosses her mind, and it shows her actively making the decision to not help. In the final episode of this series it clarifies that Freeren Has not had any meaningful character development, and is just as selfish as ever. Yes, she now has a regret, but she is still acting the same way that caused her to gain that regret in the first place. I would assume that eventually in this story she probably learns to have a heart in some way, to act with a little bit of humanity, but that didn't happen in this series, so this is my interpretation of the character. I believe there is a place and time for Slice of Life anime. But that place is not number one, and that time is not all time. I am clearly not whoever this show is meant for. Slice of Life is not really the type of story that appeals to me, I view it as a valid part of what anime has to offer, yet I do not believe it is where anime truly shines. I went into this story knowing that it was very unlikely I would view it as a masterpiece, I only expected a high quality fantasy story. And I still feel disappointed, it did not even deliver on that. There are so many more criticisms I could give But I feel that I have already said enough. I know somehow I am in the minority here, there is some sort of fundamental difference between what I enjoy and most people on this website enjoy, as was clearly indicated by how much respect people give to things such as Steins Gate. And even acknowledging all of this, I still believe that this show is not very good, The story is not well written, it is full of objective errors, The characters are annoying and not relatable, The ideas are not fun or interesting, And I genuinely do not recommend watching this show.

Mixed Feelings
In my opinion Boogiepop and others is nothing too special. It does not live up to boogiepop Phantom. Largely due to its lack of incredible soundtrack/design and distinct aesthetic Style that are present in Phantom. Additionally, although Boogie pop and others has more episodes, it is telling four different stories that are only Loosely connected, none of which are as good the single story told Boogiepop Phantom.
The whole point of boogiepop is that it is told in an abstract way, it has a bunch of characters and a bunch of different stuff that happens to them, and you aren't necessarily supposed to put ... it all together instantly. The characters are also given very realistic designs which means there's nothing visually distinguishing for a lot of the characters. After I finished watching Boogie pop Phantom I was able to make connections that I didn't pick up on while I was Originally watching, for me this enhanced that show by making it all come together, once I understood what was happening. Although this show was longer it seems as though there is less connections to go back and make, because it's telling multiple stories that aren't really connected. From my current understanding only the main characters of Boogiepop and the other girl are relevant to stories outside the first and last one. I'm sure there are connections that I missed although I have little inspiration to go and rewatch as it would only help to understand that small section as opposed to the whole story, So the story doesn't all come together, Even if everything is understood. And the universe isn't interesting enough or explained enough to allow these stories to stand on their own. I know that the original Source material is capable of creating something so much better, as was proven 20 years earlier, I'm not sure why they changed the distinct style to look like every other anime. The intro is kind of odd and only relates to like sort of the Second Story, it doesn't really serve as a good Overture for the series. Also Boogiepop kisses with Meeoshta, which is herself, And this is not explained at any point and doesn't really work with the story because Of what is revealed about Boogie pops jealousy. There are certain aspects of the show that I did enjoy, the way in which the story is told, the weird form of Storytelling I often times found enjoyable, some of the abilities are sort of interesting, oftentimes character dialogue would point out profound and interesting aspects of the story, There was a fair amount of high quality poetic conversation, often times the way that they talked was cool but what they were talking about was not that interesting Or relevant. I thought the building that the last story takes place in was a pretty interesting original concept, unfortunately it didn't feel like they fully expanded on the building aspect, I honestly wanted the building to start moving, I'm not sure how much this would have helped the story but it would have definitely helped my enjoyment of it, as I of course have an affiliation for anime architecture. I think without Boogie pop Phantom I would have a negative opinion of this show but because this show didn't really take away from Boogie pop Phantom it currently barely sneaks out an average opinion from me. For now.
