During my life i've seen many an anime, but have never come across one that I truly fall in love with. Spice and Wolf has filled that void.
Spice and Wolf follows the adventures of a travelling tradesman named "Lawrence Kraft", and his companion Holo (ほろ) a divine beast that can take the form of a beautiful young maiden.

These two companions start travelling together through "typical anime circumstances", along their adventure Lawrence learns of the difficult past his companion Holo shoulders, the past love she had for a human man like Lawrence, and how she has lost her homeland to time.

story is just great, while it isn't 100% original it's very well done. The art is beautiful, and is always used to compliment the mood that is trying to be set. The sounds never dissapoint you because much like the art they always help set the mood. I don't think I should ramble on too much about characters, but Lawrence starts out quite flat, but then later becomes a very round and static character; Holo starts out very round and static and becomes so much more than a character, but rather an entity that so many can make connections to.
(Yes, I know my comment on Lawrence is typical of anime characters.)
To say the least, I enjoyed this anime more than I ever expected to when I first started watching it.
