This was a Masterpiece gone astray and cut short.. This setting pulls you back making your feel like this is your first time watching an anime again. I've never felt more betrayed by an anime before. I'm sorry but there's simply no way to express just how disappointing this anime is without spoiling the ending. this went from an anime i was about to share with all of my friends to an anime i hope to never hear or talk about ever again.

the fact this anime has as high of a rating as it does proves that MAL's reviews are total garbage, and that its community is clueless. this anime had promise in the first few episodes introducing an interesting conflict but it starts developing plot holes quickly and lends you feel like the gold tribe are kinda idiots, despite that the anime rants and raves about how wise they were. ultimately it keeps this theme up talking up everything and showing the opposite. it talks about th danger of the combat but then you just watch the hero's destroy the enemy like they are swatting flies.

i fear i may need therapy after watching the first few episodes.... turn the cringe to 11. i don't even know why im letting my horny ass drag my screaming and crying sense of rationality through this. i know its meant to be totally situationally ironic to normal every day high school romance but gosh its soo bad. the joke is that its all so bad, and i wanna bury my face in the sand from it. but then it gets better after a few episodes and shows a tender side. then it actually starts getting funny. dang it now i actually like this anime..

Perhaps the most endearing part of this anime was that it was relatable and rather honest and it didn't rely parlor tricks or on making all of the characters clueless and excessively violent for its comedy, sure it had a little bit of that, but it wasn't excessive to the point of being mundane. completely lack basic story elements. has no purpose except to give fan service to food lovers. each episode follows the exact same formula with no hint of deviation. person finds door person eats food at restaurant and has their mind blown person leaves restaurant. this anime does not have an over arching story, it does not have character development, it lacks plot development its boring as sin, all it is is a repeat of literally exactly the same scene with slightly different characters with slightly different back stories but none of it builds anything within the world. watch one episode and enjoy the general format

This is a Masterpiece with a few flaws.. multilayered story telling, purposeful symbolism, foreshadowing events, constant character development, and artistically immaculate. were it not for a few scenes that were slightly rushed and events/dialogue that is forced this would be a perfect piece of art. i can't give it a 10 but i want to.. with universal themes of romance, companionship, overcoming adversity, acceptance and hope are each expressed by symbols and elaborated by the story's plot and there wasn't a frame wasted. every part of this story was put there to make the rest of the story better in a way that few anime

i swear if i read one more review from a hipster complaining about cliches i'm going to flip a table. this story is in the drama, and romance genre if you watch it expecting no cliches then i hope you eat a bitter apple. personal comments aside it took story elements normally overly glorified in other media and toned it all down. you expect the world to fall apart for the characters and it doesn't and the characters are incredibly deep hiding their true feelings in the scenes yet the audience knows what they really feel.
