Preliminary (10/13 eps)
"The Girl I like forgets her glasses" is the most annoying version of RomCom anime to date.

Usually with RomCom's and SoL's, there's always some sort of asterisk* that helps push the narrative forward. For this show, it's that the main character... forgets her glasses.

Dismissing the absurdity of her forgetting her glasses dozens of times during a semester, the fact that this girl can't even SEE is very irritating. This girl is essentially blind without her glasses. Bats can probably see better than her without using echolocation.

Also, Komura and Mie have no character traits! Both characters are distilled, FOUNDATION-level characters that have absolutely no interesting ...

Uzaki-chan feels like another carbon copy attempt of a SoL RomCom where our leads have opposite personalities. Nowadays, it feels like these types of romance anime are mass produced.

My issue with Uzaki-Chan is that it feels so uninspired and brings nothing new to the table. The show reminds me of the romance version of Demon Slayer where the idea's and plot developments are all reused and recycled. However, Demon Slayer made the best possible version of the reused material with everything else being dialed up to an 11.

Uzaki-chan did not dial anything to an 11.

If you have watched shows like Nagatoro (maybe not S1 but ...

The question "how much is life really worth" is and will be a ubiquitous question that is uttered in many institutions, media, and circles. Even in it's most primitive state in the form of several "would you rather" or dilemma questions, the question seems to be so widely used that it's hard to really understand the weight of of the question itself.

With it being as short as 16 chapters, this manga materializes this popular question into an actual concept that follows our main character. Dealing with themes of retrospection and a person's potential, this story illustrates a wonderful depiction of how everyday people overestimate how ...

Decided to watch this because of the general consensus that this was studio Triggers' "Magnum Opus". Wow were they ever right!

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a compelling, visually gorgeous fast-paced tragedy that deals with themes of drug-abuse and loss. I honestly think that this show doubles as a huge metaphor for addiction and how grief and sorrow can end you spiraling down the wrong path.

Our two main characters have great chemistry with each other throughout the runtime of the show, and the side characters do a great job at propelling David character into his arc (whether that's beneficial to him or not). I do feel like ...

My biggest issue with this manga is the reason why I think it's so good.

It's because it's so short.

This series was just criminally short, but it was so refreshing to see a story that you know was fully fleshed out before a single panel was even drawn. The author had a vision, and completed the vision with momentum and expertise.

Every chapter was told as a normal romance would have been told. The thing that makes this stand out is the lack of silly tropes and misunderstandings. It was short, sweet, to the point, and beautiful.

I wish it was longer, but at the same time I ...

Honestly Demon Slayer is just a shounen done right.

Alongside the likes of JJK, Demon Slayer is a beautifully animated fast-paced shounen that checks off a lot of the boxes that people want while watching the genre.

The art-style/fluidity of the animation is wonderful to watch. I feel like this is a must-have when doing shounen because if your fight scenes aren't well animated, then it's going to be out-shined by the top dogs. Demon Slayer has some of the best animation that I've watched in a anime so far, rivaling JJK depending on what art style you like more. The directing and choreography of the ...

Bocchi the rock is a great example of a slice of life anime done right.

Everything that is required for this type of story to be successful is here. From lovable characters, to emotional beats and comedy, this show does a great job at keeping you interested in the day to day life of these high school kids.

I'm of the opinion that slice of life anime's like this one need a "specialization" in order to become very enjoyable. This one focuses our main characters anxiety and how that translates into joining a band and becoming a functioning member of society. Given this fun little premise, ...

This section of Kimi ni Todoke isn't all that great, and I don't really think the issue is easy to fix.

Where the first season develops all of our characters beautifully, the second season essentially has the one job of getting our two main protags together. Because of this, even though the season is half as many episodes, it feels twice as long. Where the first season we were getting good character moments and emotional beats, the second season feels like romantic peek-a-boo in respects to Sawako and Kazehaya confessing their feelings to each other.

With annoying flash back timings, and even more annoying tropey interruption ...

Every once in a while, you come across something so great that you can ignore all objective downfalls of the show, and mark it as perfect.

For me this is Kaguya-sama.

This anime builds off of a goofy premise that is executed so well to fit the rom-com nature of the show. The show is actually really funny as well, giving me genuine laughs during some hilarious scenes.

The thing I praise most about this show is the characters. Each one of these characters could make a person's top five list, and they would have a pretty strong argument. It doesn't matter if it is Kaguya, Shirogane, Ishigami ...

Sono Bisque Doll has to be one of my favorite romance anime's of all time.

This show does a fantastic job of building the chemistry of our two protags, giving us many character building moments between them that will make you smile for how cute it is. There aren't a lot of side characters in this anime, so you're mostly getting 12 episodes of interactions between Gojou and Marin.

And this is by no means a bad thing!

Both protags are individually very good characters. Gojou while suffering from being a classic "down-horrible" male lead, is given moments where he shines very bright. His hard work, ...
