I love the idea behind the show, it was really exiting just exploring the risks and possiblities of the burst system. Kuroyukihime was hugely mysterious, you can't tell if you can trust her or not. Her background is particularly interesting and mysterious, enough to draw you into the show.
Unfortunately, beyond episode 12, I'm not feeling it anymore. I think the show needs to focus on building character instead of just furthering the story. We barely knew chiyu, and she's almost been removed from the show, we barely knew Fuuko (sky raker), and she's never around, to top it off, kuroyukihime is on vacation and she's

Absolutely crazy for the first couple of episodes. Most memorably talking headless, featherless chickens becoming ceo of a mysterious factory, and living bread that kills itself right in front of everyone spilling... carrot juice everywhere. Even from the very start the show is episodic, most plots lasting one or two episodes, central to which are mischevious, fun loving fairies who are humans sucessors in a world where humanity is on the verge of extinction. The mediator (aka Ms. Sweets or Watashi) takes up most of the screen time and her character fits the role perfectly.

Awful opening and closing. However, the actual show is really impressive, particularly the art and animation. The show keeps you in the dark for these first few episodes, but the characters definitely make it worth watching. Shinkuro is refreshingly mature for his age and Murasaki is outrageously cute, not to mention 20 years wiser than the average 7 year old, but I personally like that, it continues the japanese 'tradition' of idealizing youth.
The dialogue and characters are one of the best apects of the show, if you're a fan of dialogue heavy shows, you won't be diapointed. Sep 12, 2012

A great drama with great characters that throws a spanner into its own machine whenever it just happens to feel like it. Doesn't get much better than this. Despite having 5 main characters, it feels like there's even more because one of them develops drastically every episode, or at least overcomes or reveals something about themselves.
The character swaps really make you think about each of their personalities, so it's not really just another gimmick that's been done before. I'd like to see more body swap shennanigans, but at the same time, I'm glad they didn't milk it. Hearttree is a great villain, coming out of ... |
