This is a series I had put off for many years due to the very conflicting reviews /comments from the 2010's that turned me away from it at the time. But recently I had a friend praise it up and down and I decided I might as well give it a shot and I do not regret that decision now.

Takt Op. Destiny is an odd thing to really rate for me. The premise alone is actually intriguing and can be open to a great different representations of music and styles and how they resonate with the Musicarts and Conductors. However that's where my main gripe with this show comes in to play in that it pretty much exclusively focuses on classical music. The underground bar playing Jazz really had me excited that we'd get different music variants throughout the show and explore how they differ from the usual Classical variants but it sadly never happened. Instead all I got was Pokemon with extra steps.

Junji Ito is one of if not my favorite manga artists of all time and his short horror stories are amazing to say the least. However I don't believe that the anime portrays what made his stories so effective and horrifying. Reading Ito's works shows a common practice he does very well of having pages build up to a page turn with highly detailed horrifying art that becomes instantly iconic by how effective and eye widening the reveals are. As much as I enjoy shows and media in general that make me uncomfortable and present taboo topics most don't even wanna think about, this one felt just unnecessary and as if it was constantly trying to find a mix for realistic-ish thought processes the characters have to just typical anime BS that overall take away from the experience in my opinion. This show sucks. Terrible writing, bad choreography, mid animation except for 1 scene where they're just talking for some reason, one note characters with no development, nonsensical story telling, an ending(?) that made 0 sense at all, 4 second actions scenes ever time they fight, lore bits added that do nothing at all ever, bad acting and overall just shit.
Don't bother unless you hate yourself or gotta torture someone while keeping their eyelids open. I've watched a great deal of anime and this one is just a headache to sit through. I refuse to watch it again or sit through a potential second season. This ... |
