I just checked this out on a whim after seeing it had an upcoming anime this winter, and since it wasn't that popular and had a score below 8, I didn't expect that much. I've only read 6 chapters (though this manga has long chapters, around 80 pages with lots of text), but so far I'm very positively surprised. The art is great, the characters are interesting, witty and intelligent without being overly abstract minded and unrelatable (unlike say Monogatari characters), the world seems interesting and well thought out (though not super unique), and so far I've enjoyed it a lot.

What happens if you take the immature, loud and emotionally dysfunctional boy of a shounen and put him in a romance/drama? Well... not good things.
- I watched Sakurasou about a year ago when I was on a roll of drams like Toradora, Anohana etc., but I dropped it after a few episdes because the writing in general was meh, but more importantly because the MC was absolutely unbearable. Now I picked it back up because it's written by the same guy that's writing Bunny Girl Senpai, which supposedly is very well written (not watching until it's finished), and I hoped it might get better over it's ...

Wow this show is dull.. I thought this was gonna go a similar direction as Made in Abyss with misleadingly cute art and a slow paced start before the show gets more dramatic, but this show never does ANYTHING. There's no characters, no humor, no story, no motivations, no drama..
The only thing the show has going is that there's seemingly a rather rich backstory / lore to it, but it's never actually used for anything. The art and sound is also very obviously cheap. Maybe you'll enjoy this if you like slow paced shows about nothing like Mushishi or Flying Witch, but atleast those shows have ... |
