Metropolis displays a fairly standard cyberpunk story mixed with jazz music and has the look and feel of an early 20th century scifi.
Story: In an age where robots are omnipresent and discriminated against, a mad scientist creates a new perfect being destinated to rule the world.... *yawns*. The story was simplistic, rushed, highly predictible (I could figure out everything in advance...) and with almost 0 character development. It is also very slow paced and could have fit in half the time. If you want an anime that keeps you on your toes, this is not the one. At least the story makes sense and flows

Azumanga Daiou The Animation

Maybe one of the most overrated anime I have ever seen IMO. Got to about 6-8 eps and I had to drop the series because it was so painful to watch.
- Story: There is none, period. - Art: The artwork might be the only half decent think in that anime. - Sound: Nothing special about it. - Character: The main character is boring as hell. She is just a girl with attention disorder. I don't even remember the other characters, oh yeah there is that perv math teacher... meh. - It's slow, there is nothing that makes me want to watch the next episode, no story to follow ... Nazo no Kanojo X

This anime is quite different from what I am used to. I tend to avoid ecchi and romance but that one got me hooked somehow.
Story - 8: The story is quite daring, I am sure a lot of people were disgusted at the 'drool fetish' shown in the first episode. A few episodes forward, the story has a bit more dept than I initially thought. It's all about teenagers experiencing love for the first time, there is quite a bit of room for character development, which I enjoy. A couple of minor things that bothered me so far: - The main characters not wondering ... May 4, 2012
Fate/Zero 2nd Season

I am rewriting this review after watching fate/stay night which I should have watched before this one.
Story - 7: Now, I think the fate zero seasons are better than fate/stay night. The background story is the same, magicians fighting each other using a summoned hero to obtain the holy grail, which would be used for either good or evil purposes. We see quite a few more adult characters involved in the holy war than in fate/stay night which makes us feel somebody actually cares about that war (I would say as opposed to fate/stay night). I still think the main story is not that original, ... Apr 6, 2012
Story: The original concept is fairly decent, the fights are also quite entertaining. The world is not very rich though, it feels very plain overall. I also had a hard time getting into it because of some other problem which I describe below.
Art: The artwork is actually fairly good, the main issue is that it is way too repetitive. It's very focused on the characters and lacks background also. Character: I can't tell who is who, can you? No seriously. This is also why I put so low marks for the art. Poor creativity there. Character progression is also almost non-existent. Enjoyment: It's very hard to ... |
