Black Bullet is a dystopian science fiction anime featuring little girls.
In the year 2021, giant ass parasites called "Gastrea" attack a rural village in Japan, killing all in their path. Among the survivors is a boy named Rentaro Satomi (里見 蓮太郎). 10 years later Rentaro is working for the anti gastrea force known as civil security. Rentaro works for the Tendo civil Security which is owned by Kisara Tendou (天童 木更). Another member of the Tendo security is 10 year old Enju Aihara (藍原 延珠), partner of Rentaro. The gastrea have a weakness against a metal called Varanium, which civil security agents make their weapons out of.
Believe it
...
or not, about half the cast are little girls and it's not even a lolicon. These little girls, though cute, they are deadly beings known as "Cursed Children" because they have the gastrea virus in their little bodies causing them to have red eyes and super powers. Each civil security agent has their own cursed child partner which they are dubbed as Initiators while the human partner is known as the Promoter.
The characters in Black Bullet are pretty good, though half are little girls. The lore is pretty cool but lacks an explanation about the gastrea and how the varanium monoliths surrounding the Tokyo area actually work. Each cursed child has a different ability that they use to fight the gastrea. There arent a whole lot of fighting scenes and they're not that long but it's still entertaining to watch.
The art style is really good and the soundtrack is awesome.
There are 13 episodes so it doesn't take long to finish. I'm not sure if Black Bullet will get a second season or not, but I wouldn't mind if it does since it's a pretty cool anime. If you can get past the fact that the majority of characters are little girls in a somewhat dark anime then definitely give this one a shot.
This concludes my review so if you have any questons, just ask. In the meantime, I'll be forging my own varanium weapon to combat the gastrea.

Deadman Wonderland is quite brutal... and I love it!
Imagine a normal day at school when suddenly a floating person outside wearing red kills everyone in your class and you get blamed for the murder of your 29 classmates including your best friends. This happen to our main character named Ganta, who is then is sent to Japan's first privately owned prison called "Deadman Wonderland" which was built in the year 2017 and is not only a prison but also an amusement park where people come to see prisoners compete in deadly games to earn prison currency just to eat... or they can save up for
...
other things too.
Deadman Wonderland is not for the feint of heart (which should be pretty damn obvious because of the title) an I definitely wouldn't reccomend it to young 'uns because there is bad language, gore and all that jazz. Deadman Wonderland is set in the year 2023 and focusses on Ganta (the mc) and his life as a prisoner at this prison that will root out the weakling, chew them up and shit them out of a flaming asshole into a bucket of acid and to finish it off, get pissed on. Not many animes (or mangas) touch on the prison/prisoner topic, which is probably for a good reason like repetition but hey, Deadman Wonderland takes a prison and makes an amusement park where the death of prisoners is fun for the whole family! Now that's exciting!
The characters in Deadman Wonderland are pretty interesting and a handful of them have supernatural powers called branches of sin which allows them to use their blood as a weapon, butnjust because they can us blood to kill doesn't mean they're safe from blood loss which is their price for such a power. Each branch of sin user has a different power that can be used with their blood. People who have the branches of sin are given nicknames after birds like Crow, Hummingbird, Woodpecker, etc.
The soundtrack is amazing from the opening to ending and everything in between and the art style is really good and has a dark creepy tone when necessary.
The OVA is a prequel to Deadman Wonderland and follows supporting character Kiyomasa Senji (千地清正) aka "Crow" who is an awesome character btw.
Overall Deadman Wonderland is a really good anime but my only complaint is that 12 episodes really isn't enough to tell the story that was being told which was pretty obvious by the ending and there isn't a second season as of January 29, 2015. There needs to be a second season! *Sigh* I guess the only way to know what happens next is to read the manga, which I heard is really good and has 50+ chapters, I'll be sure to check that out at some point because Deadman Wonderland has one more fan as of now. If you like Mirai Nikki/Future Diary then I reccomend you check this out too because they're similar in many ways but also much different. Deadman Wonderland is less psychotic and more brutal than Mirai Nikki.
If you have any questons, I'll be in Cell Block G of Deadman Wonderland

Sola is an anime that will have you wondering until the end.
Watching Sola is retty relaxing for the most part but don't get fooled by the first 20 minutes, this is not a slice of life but rather a supernatural with the pacing of a romance. By pacing of a romance I mean it's kinda slow but in the end it all comes together.. or does it? This anime will sometimes tell the plot through flashbacks and have it explained later through dialogue between certain characters.
Sola has some confusing story bits scattered throughout all the episode which I can't mention a single bit of the
...
story without spoilers other than the main character likes to take pictures of the sky and visits his sister in the hospital frequently.
There isn't a whole lot of characters in Sola, but because of this, the characters are easier to remember. The side characters take larger roles than expected. The side characters actually help the story move forward without even knowing what's going on.
There is action in Sola but not enough to fit under the "action" genre.
The soundtrack is really relaxing. The art is good and it has an older look but the environment looks really nice.
Sola has 13 episodes and 2 specials. The 2 specials don't really add to the ending but more like extra episodes. The 1st special is somewhere in the middle of the story and the 2nd special is right before the first episode.
I don't have much else to say other than "I like it."

Darker than Black (DTB) is a story that's shrouded with mystery.
DTB is an interesting story that has plenty of action, mystery, exposition, and most importantly; originality. The characters are interesting, the soundtrack is good, and the explanation given for everything is actually pretty solid. There's not much else to say
Okay, just kidding, there's plenty to say. DTB follows Hei, just your average emotionless superpowered killing machine who wears a peculiar mask and a pretty badass looking knife... or is he...? Hei works for the Syndicate and often goes undercover as weak-willed Lee Shangsun (geez, I hope I spelled that right) for his missions that usually
...
require him to spy on certain individuals, but of course, spying isn't the only thing Hei does in his missions. Hei is a contractor, a type of being that people consider no-longer-human due to having no emotions or desires outside of making rational decisions, oh almost forgot (not really) contractors each have some sort of power that comes at a price. Both the power and price of power for a contractor varies person to person, each having a different power and a different price to pay. Our MC, Hei often has to fight against other contractors which makes for some cool fighting scenes.
Heaven's gate and Hell's gate have some side effects and even though the sky and its stars are fake, they still have a purpose.
The story of DTB is good but as I was watching it, there were a few flaws in the story. For example, there's the contractors being emotionless, which as I observed the characters that were these contractors, I realized that these people are not emotionless, that's a big fat fuckn' lie... but the story ended up answering for each flaw I caught on to, including the emotionless bit I mentioned. Exposition on all the small things did the story justice.
Speaking of exposition, this story has a lot of it. You won't get a single episode that doesn't constantly explain what's going on. I'm used to heavy loads of explanations but at times I felt there was overkill with this story trying to stuff information down my throat that I already figured out myself without them slowly explaining why something happened when someone else already did. It's not a bad thing to have a lot of exposition (sorry, I'm using this word more than I need to) as it helps to use it in drama with lots of crazy shit, but sometimes it's best to just shuddup and let the viewer try figuring stuff out, the best example that DTB shows of this is in the ending of the final episode, an event happens and without explanation, short scenes are shown that allow the audience the piece together everything after the main event.
There's plenty of cool fight scenes but unfortunately they don't actually last very long and they become a bit predictable at times while other times they will catch you off guard (maybe) but regardless, they're still fuckin' awesome, especially since each contractor has a different power.
The art is good, nothing else to say about it.
The soundtrack is cool.
The characters are all interesting from Hei and his small team to the serious police chief Misaki Kirihara to the hilarious private investigator kurasawa and his assistant. Even the antagonists are interesting but for some reason, they just weren't all that memorable other than the reoccurring ones.
There are about 25 episodes+special but I guess there's also a short OVA series and a second season that's only 12 episodes or something, I'll be sure to check them out at some point before someone kills me.
Darker than Black was easy for myself to get into but sometimes I didn't feel interested enough to care about the characters like I do with other anime. The story is original but nothing truly ground breaking but that's okay, because not many things are. I would highly reccomend this to people who like action and/or mystery and remember, Heaven's gate may be closed but Hell's gate is still open, waiting for you...

Future Diary/Mirai Nikki is a well written novel-like story.
Future Diary was a suprisingly awesome anime/manga (I watched the anime only). I wasn't so sure about it at first because I thought it was going to be another bloodbath without enough story to justify the bloodshed that was happening/going to happen but I was wrong.
What if you could look into the future just by looking at the screen of your cell? Sounds awesome, right? Well what if I told you that several others also had the same ability but you have to kill each other or else the world will end and whoever is the last
...
person standing becomes god of time and space? Shit just got serious now!
Future Diary is an anime I would've dropped by the end of the 2nd or 3rd episode but I was forced into watching it because of the damned anime recommendation circle I'm part of but I'm glad I finished this anime because it was worth sitting through the whole series. To be honest, the realizationg of how good this anime is didn't hit me until about halfway through and Future Diary definitely earned the right to carry the genre name of suspense. This anime had me sitting on the edge of my seat wishing I had popcorn to snack on while watching this psychotic masterpiece.
Future Diary started a bit slow for me but it's not so much that it's a slow paced anime, oh no, that's definitely not the case, it's just that murder action suspense isn't my cup of tea but the character writing was way better than I initially thought and the anime grew on me.
Our MC in Future Diary is a middle school student named Yuki Amano. Yuki is a loner (and a total wimp too), he records his daily events like a diary in his cell, he also has 2 imaginary friends; Deus Ex Machina the God of Time and Space!, and there's Murmur (assistant of Deus Ex Machina the God of Time and Space). One day Yuki learns that his diary recordings are showing events that are yet to happen and end up coming true. This brings Yuki discomfort and he learns that he is a player in a survival game where all players must kill each other in order to take Deus Ex Machina's place as god of time and space because he's slowly deteriorating. Yuki (also known as 1st) ends up teaming up with Yuno Gasai (aka 2nd) who is an obvious psychopath from day 1 but she is madly in love with Yuki which causes her to go to extreme lengths to protect the love of her life.
I didn't really like Yuki all that much because he's incredibly wimpy and weak-willed (especially in the stting in which he is placed) however, at a certain point in the story he becomes more confident, badass, likeable, and a character I could root for. Yuno stays psychotic til the ending but over the course of this 26 episode+OVA we learn more and more about our heroine of this story. Yuno Gasai is the most psychotic yandere character in anime I've ever seen but I just couldn't bring myself to hate her (especially after learning why she's the way she is). Honestly I couldn't care less about the characters who weren't chosen as candidates/players. They just weren't interesting enough for me to care about them, the psychopaths were waaay more interesting like the terrorist, the cop, the child, the mayor, and everyone's favorite, Yuno (the MC's love interest).
The story of Future Diary has this brilliant formula that makes an excellent suspense story; plot mixed wth confusion -> problem -> answer to problem in next episode -> new problem -> answer to problem in next episode -> slight explanation -> new problem -> answer to new problem in next episode -> more explanation -> new problem -> answer to problem in next episode -> rinse and repeat.
The animation is good and it really captures the psychotic looks in the characters eyes.
After the end of each episode there are mini episodes attached on about Murmur's silly adventures and her interactions with certain characters in the series.
I shall not spoil the ending but I will say it has a depressing turn that I couldn't help but compare it to Serial Experiments Lain's ending but with a love plot attached. After the credits of the 26th and final episode, there's hope!
That scene after the credits of the last episode is explained through an OVA that I imagine many people would call the true ending.
This was an epic anime with plenty of unexpected twists and turns and would recommend it to anyone who likes suspense, mystery, violence, character development, psychotic romance, and thick plot.
So if you're interested, PLEASE GIVE IT A SHOT!

This is arguably one of the best animes I've ever watched. Shinsekai Yori tells a story that completely blew away my expectations. To be honest, the description didn't interest me in the slightest but I decided to give it a try anyways due to how bored I was. As I started watching the first few minutes, I was already drawn in by that intro and kept me wondering about this world that is introduced as the future 1000 years from now. This story has a lot build up, so it starts a bit slow but picks up right before big events which kept me on
...
the edge of my seat. Another thing I'd like to mention is that even though it is set 1000 years from now, it still seems very believable from the situations that occur to how humanity chooses to deal with it. The story has a powerfull message it sends in the ending (which I shall not spoil) that gets you thinking and sticks with you after you finish watching.
