After the frustrating and abrupt ending of Kare Kano anime I have to read the entirety of the manga to get most of the story and I am so glad I did. Kare Kano is an amazing story from beginning to end. I specially love the growth of the characters. I also feels like I grew up with the characters. Story- The story is about Yukino Miyazawa is sweet, intelligent girl who is popular, always gets first in class and praised by everyone. But in reality she is different person who always tries very hard to get praised. But in highschool she gets beaten (got 2nd) by her rival Souchiro Arima who is also perfect like Yukino (also likes her). One day unfortunately Yukino's true self get discovered by Souchiro. As Yukino also discovered Souchiro's secret and understand each other. The two become friends, then become more than friends less lovers and eventually lovers. As their relationship progresses they have to overcome lot of obstacles but their love for each other become also stronger. As the first half of the story mostly highschool romcom focuses also on several other character and couples. But the 2nd half is psychological, tragedy, drama. Also advances Yukino and Souchiro's love more than ever as they help each other. And finally to the most satisfying ending of all romance drama.
Art- The artstyle which I would call flawless. I love the character designs. I also love how the faces of characters changes as they grew up. The artstyle is perfect. I love it.
Character- The character are the best thing about this series.Yukino Miyazawa is great and enjoyable female character. Souchiro Arima seems mysterious at first but we get to learn more about him. Besides Yukino and Souchiro's relationship. In several other chapters and volumes it focuses and develop various other characters as well. We also get attached to this characters as if they are real people.
Enjoyment- I realy love reading Kare Kano manga from the very beginning to end. It is transition between several genres romance, drama, psychological, tragedy. The series is really unpredictable as it does lot of shocking and unexpected moments. I love the ending as well. Which left a big impact on me. I enjoyed this series a lot.
Overall- As I like the anime of Kare Kane. I love the manga more than ever. We got to know and explored more of the characters. I am so glad I read the entirety of Kare Kano. I absolutely recommend it to everyone. But don't expect it to be cliche it is unpredictable.

Kare Kano is definitely the most enjoyable romantic comedy anime ever made. It is a anime adaptation of the first 7 volumes of Kare Kano manga series (which is 21 volumes long). The anime mostly follow the manga fauthfully but with changes like focuses more on humor compared to dramatic and psychological aspect of the manga. Bcuz of this the mangaka and anime director quarrel with each other and the anime was eventually cancelled as also Gainax run out of budget during the last few eps which followed the most frustrating and worst ending ever. Art- The artstyle is probably most unique aspect of the anime. The use of cartoon effects and paint, live action footages as well as straight out manga panels. The first 18 eps are mostly okay with this but as gainax run out of budget starting with ep 19 which don't have any animation and then eps 20-24 are decent and the last ep don't have any Animation at all just manga images. But it is still great.
Sound- The music is also really great suit the overall atmosphere. The op is good and the ed is really unique which uses different kinds of places of real life footage.
Character- The characters are the highest plus point of this series. Yukino Miyazawa is great and enjoyable female character. Souchiro Arima seems mysterious at first but we get to learn more about him. Asaba (who is friend of Yukino & Souchiro) is funny character. There are also other great characters like Tsubasa and her friend, Maho.
Enjoyment- I really enjoyed this anime a lot from the very beginning. It is one of the unique romcom ever made. I also like Arima's psychological aspects (which is explored more in manga). I love this show. But felt frustrated in the abrupt ending.
Overall- I really think Kare Kano is best romcom. But could've been better if it adapt more of the manga (as the manga goes deeper into character relations with a satisfying ending). After the frustrating I read the entire Kare Kano manga and I am glad I did it. I recommend both anime & manga of Kare Kano. Believe me it is really great experience.

'Urusei Yatsura' is the first major work of Rumiko Takahashi to ever animated. Urusei Yatsura is actually the invention of what we nowadays call rom-com. It really does have Takahashi flavor that we see in her later work 'Maison Ikkoku'. If you thought 3 tennents of Maison Ikkoku are crazy then beware of Urusei Yatsura with some of the most bizarre and insane characters. Urusei Yatsura anime series has also set the stage for some of the most notable names in anime industry. Like Mamoru Oshii, Akita Kamiya, Studio Deen and Pierrot, Rumiko Takahashi and more.

Ataru Moroboshi the most pervert, womanizer, lecherous boy ever alive in the entire universe. Suddenly when an alien group known as Oni tries to invade the Earth. They give us one condition so they will leave Earth. It's to duel against them and beat them in Tag game in 10 days. As bizarre as it sounds Ataru is selected as the one to beat them against Lum the daughter of the leader of Oni. But Lum can fly. So that's hard for Ataru. But his girlfriend Shinobu told him before the final game she will marry him he save earth. As our protagonist become motivated he manages to win but also accidentally proposes Lum. This misunderstanding causes Lum to fall in love with him. And she started to live with Ataru. From then on Ataru got everytime electric shock if he ever flirt any woman. But he still remains the same throughout the entire series.(The story is also mostly episodic but not repitetive like other episodic anime as Urusei Yatsura have slow plot progress.
Art- As the anime aired during the early 80s the artstyle may seem dated. But it is charming. It does have some similar character designs to Maison Ikkoku. Example: Godai 's face in 1st season of Maison iKkoku looks like adult version of Ataru.Also Sakura and Kyoko look similar.
But overall, I find the artstyle charming it brings up a atmosphere.
Sound- The soundtrack of Urusei Yatsura is the most memorable aspect of this show for me. It does have great music at times. And all of the 6 openings & 9 endings are quite enjoyable. All of the songs have different feelings to them. But I like them.
Characters - The characters of Urusei Yatsura is the biggest piller more than the story. Ataru is the king of all perverts in planet. He's quite a different protagonist than a lot of rom-com anime. Lum the star of this show even after nearly 40 years still remains the most iconic female character in all of anime (like her iconic tiger-stripped bikini). She tries to stop Ataru from flirt other girl by electrocuting him. She is fun and one of my favorite character to enjoy. Aside from Lum and Ataru, the side characters are lot fun, like Shutaro who is rich and handsome, adored by girls. But actually is also same pervert like Ataru. Then, shinobu who was Ataru's girlfriend previously is stronger infamously known as 'Desk-thrower' is fun character of her own. There are also several crazy and annoying characters like, Ryunosuke's dad, Ran, Ten, Cherry and others. The characters are highly enjoyable.
Enjoyment - I suddenly hyped to watch Urusei Yatsura after discovering that it was made by same person who Maison Ikkoku. However, Urusei Yatsura is a nonsensical comedy and Maison Ikkoku is a realistic slice of life comedy. But I like the comedy of both of them great. I really enjoyed urusei yastura. But I have to admit the show become dragged out during the 3rd and 4th seasons after Mamoru Oshii leaving the production. As we never got many more Oshii-type eps. Instead we got more wasted same kind of episodes of shinobu's fox, ryunoosuke and her dad. Which feels same without changes in end. But still I enjoyed almost 90% eps of Urusei Yatsura.
Overall - At the last I have to say that Urusei Yatsura become one of my favorite shows of all time. After finishing all the 195 episodes, 11 ovas, 6 movies .i felt lonely for several days. I highly recommend Urusei Yatsura if you like Rumiko Takahashi's other works. It is a great episodic without any overarching story but still manages to great without any repitetive formula like other episodic shows and has slowly plot progress. But Urusei Yatsura is worthy of my favorite show.
Rating- 9/10
Alternate Recommendations - Maison Ikkoku(same creator, same feeling but also better romance), Kimagure Orange Road(supernatural powers and also episodic plot. But kimagure orange road has more plot progress)

I usually don't write reviews for anime even the ones that i like. But i have to write for this one. Hiatari Ryoukou is one of Mitsuru Adachi's earlier works. I really like this anime very much. It is definitely one of the best romance anime from the 80s alongside Touch and Maison Ikkoku. It is similar to both Maison ikkoku and touch in terms of setting.
Story- The story is about Kasumi who have to transfer to another school and another area. She believed to be living alone with her aunt. But unfortunately the place she was suppose to live is apartment with four

boys. She started to slowly fall in love with one of the boys Takesugi Yusaku. The relationship between them is the central of the story
Characters- Kasumi and Yusaku are the main characters. Alongside them, the other characters are really great. And Katsuhiko (who is Kasumi's boyfriend) turns out to be a really guy who knows Yusaku's unrequited feelings toward Kasumi and also Kasumi's feelings toward Yusaku (No spoilers).
Artstyle- the Artstyle is same as Touch. And there are so many characters who looks exactly like their Touch counterpart. But overall the artstyle is my cup of tea.
Soundtrack- now this is something that i really love about this show. The 1st op and ed are cheesy bcuz of the tone of the show for the season. However during 2nd and 3rd season the shiw become touching and the ops and eds are memorable as well. The music is really good.
Enjoyment- I really love this show. After 1st season it becomes touching and depressing. However if it weren’t for the rushed ending (no spoilers). I would give this 10/10. But anyway it is really my favourite.
Overall- At the last I've to say this is really good anime. It is underrated. It deserves more audience.

Maison Ikkoku is in my opinion is one of the best things I've ever experienced in my whole life. Before I jumped there is some I need to tell,
To be honest I wasn’t a fan of highschool romance anime i watched some clips in youtube and i find them annoying. However the only reason I decided to watched Maison Ikkoku because it's not set in school and it was made by same creator of Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura and Inuyasha (which were crazy and enjoyable shows). anime which is about 96 eps. However unike those series (which are slice of life comedy) Maison ikkoku is both slice of life comedy, coming of age and romance. However it is a story of progression during its 96 eps run.
Story- The story is simple and that's why i like it more (no supernatural power shit or magical girl). It is set in real world. The story is about Godai a ronin boy (means who failed to pass 10) and a tenant in Ikkoku apartment. He tries but couldn’t concentrate bcuz of his other (evil) tenants. So, one day he decides to leave the house but a new manager named Kyoko came in (who is a second protagonist in the story). She is very beautiful that's why Godai couldn’t leave the house. The main focus of the story is Godai and Kyoko getting together. But It's not only that. It also focus on Godai have to chose a career and getting a job to propose to Kyoko when he will have a right. Kyoko is also most complex character (bcuz of spoilers i will not say anything..). They also meet by so many misunderstanding and crazy side characters.
Art- even though some might find the artstyle dated. But I think this is the most richest artstyle of 80s anime. There are also difference between the first 26 eps and the rest (which were beautiful looking). The art of the anime is also better than its source material (manga). I find the art style charming and nostalgic.
Sound- The soundtrack of this show is amazing and my favourite. It’s may be the only long anime that i love all of the ops and eds. They create an atmosphere and mood. The songs they used in emotional eps are amazing
Characters- now this huge talent of Rumiko Takahashi (creating crazy characters. But unlike urusei yatsura and ranma 1/2 the crazy aspect of characters toned down a bit. The story is about our main protagonists (Kyoko and Godai) getting together. But some other characters also made this enjoyable. Godai's love rival Mitaka (who is rich and wants to marry kyoko and the events in eps 82-84 is tear-jearking) and Kyoko's two love rivals Kozue (who acts more of little sister than rival) and Yagami (who is actually the pillar during the second half of the story) (who is high school student have a crush on Godai. The ending of each character arcs is good.
Enjoyment- Now to watch Maison ikkoku you need two thing one is be patient and the other is also be patient. Because you're gonna achive a huge reward through the end. Like i did. It's the Most enjoyable show.
Overall- As I stated earlier Maison ikkoku is one of my fav shows (there is nothing like it in romance genre, as most of them are highschool snobs getting together). You'll never find anything like maison ikkoku. I highly recommend Maison Ikkoku for the anime fans who are looking for good niche anime. Plz watch it Through the end.
Alternative Recommendations- kimagure orange road(similar art style and the invention modern highschool romance) and Touch(which is my favourite anime, check out my review of touch for more details)

Galaxy express 999 is a summary of the whole 113 eps tv series in condensed form but in better way. This is really one of the most enjoyable anime films with such cool characters such as harlock, emeraldas, maetel. I liked this film so much.
Story- the story is well written all the way from the beginning to end. the story is set in futuristic world where every people must get mechanical body to live eternal life. Characters- the characters are also very well written. There some great cameos of characters such as captain harlock and emeraldas.
Art- the artstyle holds up pretty well even to this day. Even though, most of the woman look exactly same.
Sound- the music is also suited in dramatic moments. Also the song are good.
Enjoyment- i really enjoy galaxy express 999 movie. I will rewatch this movie again. I highly recommend it

After finishing countless gundam shows i feel kind of tired. I started watching macross with more of zero expectations bcoz of how old it is. But i was very wrong..
