I like to think of myself as a comedy fan, being a fan of series like Milky Holmes, Nichijou and Arakawa Under the Bridge. I had heard a lot about Ichizon and had seen a few Youtube clips, and it looked like decent comedy. On the recommendation of a few trusted recommendations, I decided to take the plunge and was quite surprised at how absolutely hilarious this series is.
I normally am a fan of the skit-based slapstick style comedy like in Arakawa, Nichijou and the recent Daily Lives of High School Boys, so Ichizon's slice of life-style presentation was a nice change of pace from

Well, I went into this anime knowing next to nothing about the premise, other than it was a comedy. And as it the tradition with other comedies (FLCL, Excel Saga, etc.) I could not put into words just how fun this series is. You really have to just watch it to understand. It puts you in an almost trance like state, and bombards you with unforseen historical and pop culture references, but the flow of all this chaos is truly astounding. Every scene seems to have the ability to make me laugh and/or smile in some way, which is exceedingly rare for me.

That is all. Well, not entirely, but I think this points out the absurdity at play throughout this series. It starts out friendly enough but then it quickly spirals out of control, in a way that didn't feel natural to me at all. The characters are mostly annoying, especially the main character. He tries to redeem himself at certain points, I guess to prevent him from seeming like a total monster. But really, the character personalities in this series are anything but subtle.
