Man, no one said how freaky this show was! Half the plot is literally searching for Okarun’s missing balls… Despite that fact, the show’s actually pretty good. It’s one of those anime that doesn’t necessarily feel like anime, more so than an American cartoon in my opinion. It still has some of those trashy anime tropes, (“romance, but not really”, young-looking old people) but not nearly as much as others that it gives off the same vibe. The way Momo and Okarun operate makes them feel almost like superheroes; they take care of isolated threats while trying to keep secret. I think that scratched another ... itch. Turbo Granny becoming an animal mascot was a genius move by the author. The fight/action scenes were some of the best I’ve seen in recent memory. Having the characters work together often to accomplish whatever goals they have leads to creative ways of beating their enemies and more character interaction, strengthening their relationships with each other. I can’t wait to see what they do with Aira and Jiji as characters and see/read more!
