The story started off promising enough to warrant trying out. But by chapter 33 it's gotten to a point of being inexcusable.
-Shallow character development.
-Terrible pacing.
-Ridiculous powerups that are made trivial within the next two chapters.
But the worst is the story itself. I know this is written by the same person who wrote Danmachi, but dear god. Write a different story plot other than Danmachi and Sword Oratoria. Story: 0/10, To put it simply. The author clearly only had the concept of renting a girlfriend thought up when they started writing this. They have no clear direction to take this story. When starting a story typically you come up with the start point, then end point before adding in the middle bit. This gives you a goal to work towards throughout the story. This clearly doesn't have that. I read up to chapter 193 before I decided to drop the series. From chapter 140 onwards to 193 it's only padding. This anime is just a summary of the Light Novels it's based on. Each episode covers the events of an entire volume of the novels. Cutting out almost everything that makes the series good (world and character building). What you see in the anime could be said to be the bullet points of a plotline planner.
It's actually disappointing how bad the anime is compared to the novels. I'd only recommend watching the first two or three episodes. After that if you like it, you should read the novels instead. Otherwise, the anime will ruin the experience for you. If you're not into reading and won't ... |
