Pupa is quite possibly the worst anime that I have ever seen. Actually, scratch that, Pupa might actually be the worst media in general that I have ever consumed. The art style is not the worst that I have ever seen, but it has to be close. The animation appears rushed, as does the voice acting throughout the show. It's almost as if the entire creation of the show was an absolute farce with zero passion or effort put into production. I can only assume the budget of the ONA was about equal to a tuna sandwich, because it genuinely looks horrid. The characters are ... extraordinarily forgettable, outside of the strange incest thing, and truthfully I cannot even recall their names. At the very least the plot and backstory is rather interesting, although I personally would not subject myself to the torture of sitting through 12 episodes of Pupa. There is quite literally nothing worth watching in this absolute disgrace of an ONA unless you're into gore and weird incestuous relationships. Honestly, Pupa is worth watching just because of how much of a trainwreck the show becomes. Although the entire series is watchable on YouTube, I wouldn't recommend it. Stay far away from this absolute piece of garbage.

I might be easily swayed by cute girls doing cute things, but from what I've read so far, I'm super into Mono! Mono is a wholesome, cute story about a group of high school girls hanging out and taking photos! It's very similar to Yuru Camp, in fact, all of the characters are very reminiscent of the main girls in Yuru Camp, as is the art style. Afro, unsurprisingly, seems to have strongly based the art style of Mono on his previous manga hit, Yuru Camp. Overall, Mono is a wholesome, funny, and cute story featuring a well-rounded cast of characters. If you like photography ... and laid-back storytelling, then I highly recommend giving Mono a quick read!

Tenki no Ko (Weathering with You) is another fantastic piece of visual art from Makoto Shinkai. Seriously, this movie's animation alone is worth the price of admission. That's how beautiful it is. In fact, I'd like to say that in a different universe, a universe without Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name), this would be Shinkai's greatest film. The issue is, Kimi no Na Wa exists in this universe, and the art in that film is just as good, if not better, yet seems to have a more creative story, as well as more well rounded and likable characters. This was so close to being ... the best Shinkai film ever made, but it fell short when it came to characters and stories. The entire film is just not particularly original, and the characters do come off as selfish during specific moments in the film, which sucks, considering how good the rest of the film is. You can tell that Shinkai really wanted the viewer to become emotional during the film, but some of the scenes just come off as ingenuine. As per usual, the RADWIMPS soundtrack is amazing, and is definitely worth a listen, even if you haven't watched the film. Overall, it's a very solid film that you won't regret seeing for yourself. Just don't compare it too much to Kimi no Na Wa.
