How did I start watching anime?
My first introduction to the anime was when I was around 8-9. I was up a bit more than I should have at the time. As I was scrolling channels, searching for a cartoon to watch, I happened to find a channel that only airs anime at night times. Coincidentally, it was Bleach. I don’t know how far into the series it was, but some things were established. Because of my strange encounter, I would pop in from time to time and watch Bleach. Even though I understood quite literally nothing. But that led me to learn the existence of anime. Fast forwarding 9 years, I was a high school student. And in one of the days, I went out to a shopping mall with my friends. While we were killing time for dinner time, we went inside a bookstore. And in that particular bookstore, there was a section reserved for manga. So I asked one of my friends, does this series have an anime as well? That’s how I encountered with my first manga series that I have a collection of, Seraph of the End. In the upcoming months, I ended up buying 19 or so volumes which were released at the time. And I watched the anime for Seraph of the End as well. After that, I went on the search to watch more anime and made worth memories that are worth cherishing in the upcoming years. I indulged myself in anime communities from the to time. So that I can share the passion that I adolescently have.
Why do I watch anime?
Anime taught me a lot. From understanding my broken self to allowing myself to express emotions that I couldn’t before, to allowing me to dip my toes in writing in a different light. It allowed me to mature and made me blossom into the person that I am today. Even though I consume media, mostly for the sake of entertainment, thanks to certain anime series, I was able to discover the person that I truly was. Anime will be something that I always take inspiration from. No matter the path that I will choose for myself in the future.
