Well, I personally enjoyed this one.
It has many things that you'd normally hate.
• A genre that’s gotten overused already
• An MC who is (supposedly) like all the MC’s you might’ve seen; bland
• A bunch of female characters who seem to always stick with the MC (for one reason or another).
But if that's enough to pull you out from an anime, you probably won't be able to see what's beyond the genericness of the anime and what it excels at the most. This is an anime about the MC using his wits to reach what's supposed to be the ultimate goal and something currently unachieved by ... all the people who've attended the school before, reaching Class A from Class D.
And if a minor spoiler ahead, the MC is a guy who'd rather hide his strength and let others take the credit than bask in the glory of his success.
You won't be able to pry much into his past, but will get a gist of what it was and why he is, however, he is right now.
IMO The beginning few episodes also don't pull much into the story, however. So don't be quick to judge it.
And it looks like it's gonna be a harem sooner or later (which I personally like Since I like harem ).
I'm rather looking forward to its second season.
PS. This for some reason does remind me of Oregairu.
