I believe that I first started the anime and it took me some time to really get hooked on this series.
After the anime ended, I simply had to continue the manga - it is too good not to.
Story 10/10
Maybe some people would say that the story/plot isn't enough to get full points, but nonetheless, the individual stories and past of each character shown up to date are (in my opinion) really amazing, exciting, sad and have some kind of uniqueness to them. (You'll be surprised, because there's always more to come.)
You'll even find yourself enjoying the past of the antagonist(s), their being and the whole
...
world that makes D.Gray-man.
The concept is nothing new, but it is the details that make the series outstanding for me. The story each character carries with them and the complexity of the world as a whole.
Art 10/10
I still give the art a 10/10, although everyone who has been reading the manga from the very first chapter, knows that it wasn't all that good - it was still beautiful and looked pretty, especially with all the details and the darker atmosphere, but it wasn't 'that outstanding'.
But now, I can easily say that it turned out to be one of the most impressive and beautiful artworks I've seen so far - especially so the latest chapter after this long hiatus.
It's just mesmerizing with the well drawn emotions and all the details - the clothes, the surroundings, the shading, I can't complain at all.
Character 10/10
At first you might find this and that person annoying, unnerving, weird and whatnot, but in the end, there really is hardly someone I've come to honestly dislike.
The character development is also quite well done, in my opinion. The past of those interesting and shocking/sad at the same time.
Even the fact that there are so many side characters is lovely - all of them have their own personality and are really likable.
Of course, in every world there are people who aren't our favorite, whether it's their mindset, way of speaking, attitude or whatever, but it would be boring if those people didn't exist at all, right?
Enjoyment 10/10
It might take some time to really get into the series, since you get to know more of the characters, the world and the 'different forces' ('good' and 'evil') slowly, but for me, there has always been something to get me to read the next chapter - to have the urge to keep on reading.
D.Gray-man covers humor, action, drama and more emotional stuff to think about.
If you've enjoyed the first 40 - xx chapters, then you'll be pleasantly surprised about what will come next, because (in my opinion) it just gets better and better the further the story advances.
Or let's say that the story really begins after the 'introduction' to the new characters and the world.
Overall 10/10
It is one of my favorite series of all time and I doubt that it's going to change anytime soon (if at all). I've been a fan of D.Gray-man for a few years now and despite finding really good series (and many new ones are yet to come), it has left such a big impression on me which doesn't seem to falter.
Despite the several hiatuses the series had, I've always been looking forward to the date of its continuation.

I first started watching Aoharu x Kikanjuu simply because I thought the art was beautiful. I had no idea what it was about at all.
And thus, I can easily say that the art is one of the best points of the series (in my opinion), along with the soundtrack.
After the first (few) episodes, I was surprised to see that I actually enjoy a series with 'survival games' as its theme/plot/however to call it.
Story 8/10
In my opinion, the story itself could be much better if the pace were slower. If the actions, games and such were more detailed, with more depth.
Still, I liked the
...
general idea of the survival games and tournaments and such.
Art 10/10
Like I've mentioned above, the art is the reason I actually started the series and of course, there are many animes with outstanding art, but in my opinion, Aoharu x Kikanjuu is one of them.
There were a few scenes where I just sit there, stare at the screen and think 'wow, that's drawn so beautifully'.
Sound 10/10
I liked the soundtrack - whether we talk about the opening/ending or in-between. It matched whatever was happening and yeah, I simply enjoyed the music.
Character 9/10
It would have easily gotten a '10/10' from me if one actually got to know more about all the protagonist (and of course, the other characters as well). I am pretty sure that the characters could have an interesting past, relationship to each other and who-knows-what, but apparently, it's not shown.
There are many interesting ones and, in my opinion, also quite a few really likable/lovely ones.
Some might turn out weird or the 'development' is kind of... unnatural/too fast, but overall if I thought about 'why did they do that?' the answer/reasoning usually comes to me rather quickly.
Although I am sure if one doesn't give much thought about the 'why', the characters might just appear as 'ridiculous'.
Enjoyment 10/10
I'm pretty sure that I would have marathoned the series if all episodes were out already when I started watching the anime.
There were still times where it was kind of 'normal'/'slow' compared to the usual pace of the series and some episodes were full of excitement.
It was funny, sometimes you might even get goosebumps or just excited/anticipating to see what would happen next.
Most of the time, I thought that it was amusing and enjoyable.
Overall 9/10
The part which I'm disappointed about is the fact that there was not enough 'character development' and 'story depth'.
Also, if the series had a few more episodes to spare, I think it would have gotten a lot better (more time for the events, games, characters etc.).
But apart from that, I still adore most of the characters shown, even the antagonist(s) are fascinating and the mixture of different personalities is interesting.
