Vampires, not really a new concept. However, how to turn into a vampire, is a somewhat new one for me. You have to be in love in order to turn, and if you haven't after a year it's not going to happen. So for a boy who has never been in love before and desperately wants to turn in a vampire, it seems like an impossible feat. It doesn't help that the vampire he's trying to fall in love with has never sired an offspring before. So, the interactions between them are so off that it's funny.

I really don't know how to express my feelings about this anime. I am about the same age as ojisan, so I understand references to SEGA. However, when he shows clips from his time in the other world... There are times where you could see that he really never saw the other people there as people. So there were multiple times where it just feels very uncomfortable. He doesn't do anything with the intention of being perverted. He just is approaching situations from a gamer point of view versus these people exist and you need to treat them with respect.

Not gonna lie, my first impression was that it's going to be a rip off of gunslinger girl. It is so much more than that, though. Lycoris Recoil feels more like a battle of morals. Taking a life should not be easy, even if it means protecting the world. There's also the fact that they're still young girls. They want to dress cute and just not have to worry about potential dangers. As if saying "I'm off the clock. Let someone else deal with it." The message of this anime seems to be much deeper than first inital look.
