So to start of, I have seen some pretty bad reviews for this manga and that's fair enough, everyone had there own opinions and not everyone like the same thing. That said, I did love this manga so very much so this review may not be very helpful but I'd just like to write what I thought about it.
I personally loved this manga. It may be because I love the whole fantasy genre but I think the mangaka created something really amazing with Black Bird.
I loved the characters, I loved Kyou and Misao. I loved Taro and I loved everyone, seriously even sho. The characters
...
were funny and serious and there was really a good mix (in my opinion) which I loved because it's always great to have a mixture of different character types.
I liked the art, it was different to the other types I'd seen and held a lot of detail which made my breath catch a few times. Really I love most manga art because it's just so amazing how it looks and really as a person who does a lot of art in her spare time, it is one of most favourite types of art to do.
I found the story also very interesting, it wasn't something I'd seen before and it really got me hooked. I stayed up for hours reading this manga the past few days, I just couldn't put them down. I've always liked stories with demons and humans and I love stories with a lot of love and romance and hardships and drama, the good stuff. I found that this manga had all of that for me.
It made me cry so much as well, I cried with happiness, I cried with sadness, I laughed and got so emotional that I can't put it into words, I just so happen to get very emotional attached to fictional things, so this isn't a new feeling for me but honestly I love reading something that makes me feel so emotional and this was one of those things.
SPOILERS
The ending was literally perfect for me, I cried so much because they never actually said whether she lived or died and for those few pages it was so tempting to skip to the end but I didn't and when sou runs up to them both gosh, I cried like a bitch because she was alive and it just showed that there love had kept them both alive and that miracles do happen and omg I was terrified reading the end but I loved it I really did.
Honestly I think a lot of people will disagree with me but I don't think that because Misao is always being attacked and because she cries a lot that she is weak. Really if I were in her situation yes, I may try and defend myself a little more, but I will still cry as much as she has, I love Misao and her character and all these things make her character. I can see however, that these things could be seen as annoying and pathetic and a little stupid but I don't think that.
I guess that could be a criticism even if I don't actually think it to be true, there are a lot of things that could be said as criticism, I know that but honestly I don't have any myself.
Most of you probably won't find this review helpful, I don't write them for that though. I write these reviews because honestly, whether you agree with what I'm saying or not, I like to share my opinions on these things, manga and anime, with others who love manga and anime like I do.
SO yeah, I loved this manga and I'll probably read it again sometime because it really was a great one. It's one of those that leave a permanent emotional imprint, the ones you never forget and now I sound really cheesy but omg I really loved it.
:)

This anime was one of the few that I actually re-watched. I really did love it.
Now I'm a sucker for anime like this, with the magic and all the drama, it really is one of my favourite types.
I really did love idea of having a magic school and the way the use the CAD (Casting Assistant Device) to use magic.
The conflict between the two groups, the course 1 and the course 2 students in the first arc because it starts off the anime with a load of drama and I loved that.
I also loved Tatsuya, I'm not really sure why, It's just the way he
...
didn't really give a shit about anything and well I liked that.
I loved the characters as well, they were funny and lightened up the show when it got rather serous at times.
The animation really was pretty as well with how they showed the magic and just how everything was presented it really made me swoon. If an anime had pretty animation I will be on it quicker than you can say animation :P
I have watched this anime like 3 times because I really, really liked and each time I was hooked.
I liked the fact it was split into three separate arcs because it made the story a lot clearer and easier to follow.
My favourite arc was the second one because it was quite drama filled and you really got to see all the characters potential and there was a lot of magic use meaning I got to see lots of pretty animation :D
Not going to lie the relationship between Tatsuya and Miyuki did freak me out a tiny bit but I got used to it by the end so I guess it's not really a dislike just a little something that weirded me out.
Oh yeah and that ending also frustrated me because you suddenly get all this information about Tatsuya and its not fully explained, there is also the fact that it was ended in a cliff hanger that gave a chance for another season even though there probably wont be one.
I also guess again I would have like a tiny bit more back story, while there was a bit of it and hints at it it still wasn't fully explained which leaves me wondering about it and it's annoying.
SO this was one of my favourite anime so far and I hope other people love it as much as I do

As I don't actually use reviews when decided whether or not to watch or read something, my reviews probably aren't that helpful, I just use them to say what I like and what I didn't like.
Sorry :/
Honestly, I started watching this anime because it was on my to watch list and it looked good, that's all there is to it.
After the first episode, I was hooked, sometimes it takes me a lot longer to decided but with this I knew straight away I would love it.
And I did, I really like anime with magic and that fantasy element so this one was up my alley.
I
...
liked the characters as well, well I was a wit weary of the characters to start of with, but they grew on me.
I had a feeling that the big thing that happened (no spoilers) would because I tend to be good at reading those sorts of plot twists but still, I was shocked.
I did not expect (SPOILERS) Natsume to die though, this shocked me so much and yes, it made me cry too.
I guess what I didn't like was, as with most things, that there was not a lot of back story. Granted there was a lot more back story than some anime I have watched but I still felt like it was lacking a little.
The ending, while it was good, ended very suddenly and was rather cliff hangery. To be honest it left a little room for a sequel but more often than not, a lot of them do and we never get one so I'm not holding any hopes just yet.
I guess another dislike I had is, well it did fell like it was something I'd seen before, it lacked a little originality and while I did enjoy it, it was rather similar to other anime in the same genre.
I did enjoy the anime but there were times I did consider dropping it, not so much because I didn't like it but because there were quite a few main arcs (if you can call them that) and I felt it dragged on little.
Saying this, It did work well as a 24 episode anime and I do not think it would have done so well being any shorter.
So this review is probably not helpful but thats not really why I write them so... Sorry

Low score :/ I know. Why you ask?
Well...
In my opinion the actual storyline was not that great, it was awfully patchy and jumped around quite a lot which did get awfully frustrating.
I mean it's alright I suppose but they never really explain about the universe and where it's set or really anything about jousting and why they have a school for it. I mean I suppose its some alternate universe but they have modern technology but they are jousting, which seems like a more older fashioned thing???
It also gets rather annoying that it will jump from character to character and really the plot just isn't
...
consistent. I didn't get confused by it at all and I could keep up with the jumping around but it was very frustrating.
There's also the fact that the storyline is suppose to follow Takahiro Mizuno, but in fact we know nothing about him really and his back story is never really revealed properly which made me feel I couldn't really connect with the story when the main character felt so unknown
So I'll give the storyline a 5 because I have watched anime with much less of a storyline and also much worse of one.
That said, I watched it right through to the end and it made me laugh so much, there was rather a lot of things that were said that could be interpreted with dirty meanings which I loved, and I even cried a little bit so where the storyline lacked, it made up for in the comedy and emotions it drew out of me.
Also the idea of the jousting interested me and it seems like a very good, fun and interesting sport and was another one of the reason I did watch this anime until the end.
I'm going to give the content a 7 because it was the thing that kept me hooked.
SO overall I would say it was a 6, because it could have been a lot better.

I LOVED THIS MANGA
(This review may include spoilers)
Seriously I have read few manga and this is by far one of the best.
I love the idea of the knights being able to be summoned using the cards. This is what drew me in to this manga.
I also love the storyline because it's not simple, there are many twists and turns which keeps it exciting.
I also love the boys too. Kaede, Tenjoh, Mutsuki and, Seiran. They all have such great and complex personalities and they are such a laugh.
OMG and Anis is just, I love her so much. She is my idol.
I also love the
...
fact this manga made me laugh hysterically and cry hysterically. It really did pull the emotions out of me which is just another reason I love it.
I will say this though, at the end, shit just gets real weird, real fast I was like, whatttt, throughout most of the end chapters and then right at the end the shit just depleted, to be honest I was slightly confused from all the twists the plot took.
I guess if I were to fault it, I would say that perhaps the back story about how the knights became knights would have been some things that maybe could have been included because I did wonder how it all worked.
Also perhaps the ending could have not been so rushed because it did feel like at the end it was just a rush to fit everything in and it did ruin the effect a little bit.
So yeah, exploring the knights a little more and a less rushed ending would have been nice but that's about all the faults I have really.
So overall I just love this manga and I truly find it difficult to fault and while some may not share my love for it and that is fine, I don't tend to judge anything on the reviews it gets as everyone has different tastes and this manga just happened to fit mine.

SO technically I would give it a 7.5 but I pushed it up to 8 because I'm nice.
Really, I liked the story to this manga, it was interesting and I like these murder mystery type things I guess.
I'm a little sad that it's only like 2 volumes with like 10 chapters because I feel like it was all very rushed and if it had been stretched out a little bit more then it could have been even better than it already is.
I really love the little plot twists here and there and the fact you don't know who's doing what or what anyone's agenda
...
is, its great.
It made me cry a few times as well and that's when I can tell something is good whether it be a manga, anime, book or T.V show, if it makes me cry then its worth at least a 7.
And well that ending that was just amazing, I love endings like that, that was what made me cry the most out of everything, gosh it was great.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this manga and I just really wish it was longer because everything felt a little rushed and too jumbled together.
There's also the fact that I didn't feel like that characters where properly explored, really I fell like I didn't know the characters very well as there was no venturing into back stories and I think that would have made the manga better if the characters had been explored more and given a little more depth that they had actually been given.
If these two things had of happened then I would have given the manga a higher score but honestly those things were something I felt could have been improved.
Overall though, it was quite a good manga and I did enjoy it.
