Apart from the downright similarities between the characters of these two series, the world buildup has striking resemblance. Humanity is constantly being under attack by an eldritch abomination, and to defeat them, kids are trained to pilot giant mecha structures. The protagonist has some sort of issue that prevents him from piloting once such robot. There is a female lead who wears bright red clothes, and plays a big part with the mental turmoil of our protagonist. Mental depression plays a big part in the protagonist's case, and while Evangelion has a constantly lingering dark aura to it, Darling in the FranXX is a lot brighter in case of both appearance and the tone of the story.

After a hectic day at office, the central female characters in these series enjoy their leisure time by having different types of drinks. While Wakako-zake focuses on the lead character enjoying drinks in various food shops (like sushi bar), Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara's lead character returns to her house and enjoys drinks prepared by her husband. These two anime are mainly mind-relief based series, and while they have a bit different appeal (Osake's Chisato acting funny after drinking), the mental effects on the viewer are the same: calming experience.

This little difference turns Chi's Sweet Home into a cute cat story with funny elements, and Poyopoyo as a hilarious story with a bit of over-the-top comedic elements.

The protagonists of these series have overpowered psychic abilities, so much that no one stand a chance against them. They actually have to restrain themselves so that no one else gets hurt. A big difference is that, in case of Mob Psycho, Shigeo is portrayed as a character who is as simple as he can be, so everyone at first glance won't pay any attention to him. On the other hand, Saiki from Saiki Kusuo tries his best to avoid any type of attention, and realizes no matter what he does he is going to be at the center of every little and big events around him. These series have some over the top comedic elements, and they were used in the best possible way.
