Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2

It is hard to recommend a follow-up for something like AoT that has no real parallel, certainly in regards to story quality. However, Land of the Lustrous is something of a ‘yin’ to the Attack on Titan ‘yang’. While using a totally different colour palette and animation style, Houseki no Kuni similarly has a mysterious invading enemy, a host of meaningful characters and a strong sense of tragedy throughout. It also delivers some of the most dynamic fight scenes (sword based, I might add) that you will find!

Hataraku Saibou

Both series star ambitious but inexperienced people in 'messenger' positions that take them through all areas of an operation - the human body, and anime production. Both series have similar 'female' leads, but the real fun in these series is meeting the other eccentric specialists in the operation and joining the main character during her education and development. Both series have a similar tone of voice and teach the viewer about the process, but Shiro Bako is aimed at a slightly more mature audience and also adds a level of character development and depth to the experience.

Space☆Dandy

Looking past the visual change in time and location, both these series share a nearly identical style of comedy thanks to the involvement of Shinichiro Wantanabe, the man behind both of these titles. Both series follow a mismatched trio through a wildly varying world as they dip their feet into the stories of the people they pass. Both series have small plots taking place over 1/2 episodes, but Champloo manages to deliver something of an overarching plot to go with this. Many people want to recommend Wantanabe's most famous work, fellow space anime Cowboy Bebop. However, you'll soon notice that Champloo actually has much more similar tones to Dandy, despite the location change!

Black Lagoon

Black Lagoon is a modern crime anime with a similar setup to Champloo, in that the lead charter is a normal person taken under the wing of dangerous killers after he is cut off from his previous life, joining the mercenaries who had once held him hostage. While it lacks the genre-bending style or overarching story of Champloo, BL stars equally charismatic, almost tongue-in-cheek killers while also containing much stronger action than Champloo.
