Tate no Yuusha Season 2 A weak first impression, but actually pretty good?
Compared to the first season the 2nd season only has 12 episodes, while the first has 25 episodes on where epi 1 is even is an full hour, Tons of drama and basicly starting from 0 to endpoint strong. When looking at people giving their opinions it shows quite spread out. from Really good as also a fair amount of people having their expectations missed out on.
Season 2 starts different, At the end of season 1 Naofumi already starts strong, is strong enough to face any other human and restored his standing as
...
a 'proper' hero. Meaning season 2 starts off a little as bland as it will take time for problems to arise and the episdes are used to warm up to new characters.
The season really starts off as average/ underwhelming, The spirit turtle has awakend, Naofumi and his party taking the lead showing off his barely beating my opponent powers. Rishia becoming slowly more important for Naofumi's party, and uses plenty of her her cute 'Fueeeeee' trademark.
However the main reason this season starts underwhelming is the huge audio quality drop. There are alot of "outside scenes" on where the voice and sound recording sounds low quality. This happend before in season 1 at the undead dragon. It feels like the makers trying to create some kind of voice/ sound effect while they are 'outside' but in this season it missed its mark and potentially is the reason of alot of hate train. The effect will slowly perrish on highlighted moments and later the season.
Story: 8
The story is somewhat straight forward, but one where u can't really find any flaws with either. Considering the 12 episodes size there is a limit on how much u can build up with. The story Adaptation is very well done in my opinion. In the Light novel it's more simply lets defeat a turtle and lets go home story, while in the season adaptation you get to know more about the world of L'arc, Glass and Therese. A new Hero villian that gets naofumi into new difficulties. Alot on which wasn't really explained or shown in the light novels now becomes known in season 2.
Art: 9
Great, I just love it. Well for the most part the art is the same as u expect it from season 1 but there has been done alot of improvement on presenting emotions in highlighted moments. 1 picture and a 1000 words kind of idea. They do it a couple of times within the Season 2 and i love to see more of it.
Sound: 6
The sound quality in the start is super messy, which i think results alot of dissepointement for this anime. Have a bit of patience for it to pass, The quality will restore later the season. Also the anime still has great music as season 1. Without the audio issues Sound is at least an 8.
Character: 8
The story doesn't allow every character to be in it, so a couple of faces u won't be seeying as much for this season. Instead a new Hero Villain and some new allies are becoming part of naofumi's party. The allies Naofumi meets feel quite normal at first, but throughout the season they are given plenty of moments to become likeable.
Enjoyment: 7
The audio quality ruined the high expectations a bit, but the season came in a fair conclusion that i could say i enjoyed.
Overall: 9
Tate no Yuusha Season 2 is overall really great build, However i heard that it had some staff issues/ switches which is possible for the quality changes through out some episodes. I think they did right on putting their attention to the most important moments. The moments where u would remember this anime for what it is loved for.
As the light novel reader i think the adaptation is done amazing. Season 2 presents a lot what in the novel has not been explained and left blank, while in this season more background of the world itself and new characters were designed and are put in a good spotlight. Great atmosphere of key moments that makes u get drawn in the characters.
I enjoyed Tate no yuusha Season 2 alot, It has a bit of a quality switch at start but has good moments later that make up for it.
After season 2, Tate no yuusha is still one of my top listed anime series.
