Plot: OG World of Warcraft(i'm guessing) gamer gets bored of modern mobile style gacha games and looks online for a new game to play, finds weird website, picks the hardest difficulty. The benefits of this difficulty are that it provides an infinite potential for growth. He then picks summoner as a class, one that is still in development. After finishing his character creation he is reincarnated into this world. Since he picked the hardest starting conditions, he is born as a serf, and that is where the story begins.
I really enjoyed this story. The main character's thoughts and ideas make sense, and he really does
...
start from nothing: His first summon is a grasshopper. Not even a large one or anything: literally an insect that is immediately killed by his mother when she sees it. His progression through the story takes longer and longer time-wise, yet it speeds the reader through years at a time keeping a decent pace where you can see the efforts he puts in every day pay off.
I'm really looking forward to the next novels in the series, as his potential for growth is very high.

TLDR: Read Mushoku Tensei, but don't expect Rudeus to become a goody-two-shoes. He isn't a good person. Learn from his journey and use his story as a stepping stone for your own.
Short Preface: I enjoyed this series not because I liked the protagonist, but because of how strongly I didn't like the protagonist. Rudeus is a perverted man with no hope in his life, and he is given a chance to start over.
For me, Mushoku Tensei is much less about what Rudeus does, but what he learns from it. The story is about him growing up, learning from his actions, and becoming the person
...
he wants to be. I don't like the person he's become, but that doesn't mean the way he got there was meaningless.
When comparing myself to Rudeus, I despise any similarities, and have, since reading the series, honestly begun to finally begin climbing out of the pit that is depression. The series helped me realize that I don't want to be like Rudeus: a 34-year-old with no hope in his life who mooches off the people around him. I still have time left to change myself. There's hope. If the disgusting, jobless, human piece of garbage that is the main character can change himself, so can I.
Besides what I got out of the series personally, I did enjoy the world-building and the environment presented. I didn't think it was revolutionary or mind-blowing, but it served its purpose and created a world that felt lived in. If the protagonist had been some self-insert, the story would probably be much easier to like. The characters around Rudeus mostly excuse him for many of his acts of perversion, which, although it makes sense narratively, raises the question of whether or not the author himself thinks what Rudeus is doing is okay.
I thought the story by itself was a solid 7.5 out of 10 mainly because of its perversion, however, if you look at it with the knowledge that you are supposed to not like Rudeus, and instead learn from him, it's a 9/10.

TLDR: Is this ANIME worth watching? Maybe. (probably not) On the other hand, the light novels for this series are certainly worth reading, as they rival some of the best isekais with good content, and world-building.
Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? is a story about a girl who when isekai'd, wakes up as a spider. It's a foreign concept, but the show elaborates on this concept and builds an intriguing world and environment for the main character to interact with.
The show has two stories: The human side: A generic isekai; and the spider side: an all-out battle shonen. The spider side is infinitely more
...
entertaining, but at least the human side provides some world-building and acts as a foil to the events going on for the main character, Kumoko.
Now onto the problem. (Preface: I don't hate CGI, I hate bad CGI)
Overall the story is good, however, the animation itself is not. The anime itself suffers from a heavy reliance on CGI that is poorly done, and the final episode was even delayed due to the first draft of it being so bad they had to do it over. (The second draft was probably the best episode of the series) The fight pacing and camera were all over the place, and at points, I would have rather had them use a still frame than the CGI that was in the episode. The animation that was done, however, was inconsistent. Some episodes were okay, and others were very wierd. It's very obvious that multiple different groups worked on this project with very little cohesion between them.

So "The Misfit of Demon King Academy" is not a good show. It is your typical power fantasy taken to its logical extreme. The main character is the one and only all-powerful Demon Lord.
Does he face actual adversity?
No
Does he have any character?
If you consider getting bored of fighting an endless war and being a powerful character... still no.
Any plot that the author came up with to try and stand in our main character's way was solved by him just being the demon lord. Problems? I know a spell (that no one else knows) for that!
The show's characters are bland and leave you feeling nothing
...
for them.
Onto the art. There's a lot of CG, and while it wasn't too obtrusive for me. your experience might vary.
The sound wasn't too problematic except at the end where they had characters singing and their mouths were noticeably out of sync with the words in the song.
I enjoyed laughing at the show. The show is bad. It had no engrossing plot, poor art. and awful 0-dimensional characters, but it was honestly fun to laugh at how ridiculous and serious the show tried to take itself. Aside from the main character's parents. everyone in the show is super serious and completely braindead.
TLDR:
Go into this show knowing it's bad, and you might have fun. If you want a good show to watch. look elsewhere.

TLDR: If you liked Overlord and Overlord II, read the Light Novel. This anime will only tarnish the series for you.
Overall 6
Story 10
Animation 1
Sound 7
Character 7
Enjoyment 4
Don't get me wrong, Overlord is a great story. I'd recommend the Light-Novel to anyone. Even the translated versions are great. After seeing the Anime on Crunchyroll, and watching the first season, I had to get more, so I read the Light-novel, and 1/2 way through book 5, Season II came out. I was so excited, and it was great! Even though the lizardmen arc was not the best part of
...
the novel, the anime adaptation skipped over many of the more boring parts, and I actually thought the pacing was OK. I heard Season 3 was coming out this year and was super excited as well. "Another season!?" YES!!
Overlord III hit me with everything I didn't like from season two, plus obvious budget cuts destroyed the anime's art style to a point where halfway through the season it was more bad CGI than actual animation. I wish they had the budget to produce actual art, and hope that someone will make a fan recreation of the latter half of the season done right. The CGI, and the lack of care that went into making these episodes make it clear we will never get another season. They killed my favorite story.
