The main difference is that in one of these, the students are all on the same side and in the other, they aren't. Despite this, they're very similar with how each scenario forces students into horrific scenarios that force them into acting as adult and cause them great trauma, in addition to those some of them already hold.

- An heiress falls for a not-so-normal commoner - Gramps and Akane are together basically the equivalent of Hayasaka - A group of friends - Multiple pairings - Comedy with points where it gets very serious The main difference is that Kaguya is a slow burn where they’re struggling to get into a relationship, whereas the couple gets together pretty early on in Ojojojo and the story is about their struggles as a couple and in their friend circle as well as being... normal. The main characters in both series are complete morons, socially.

People in desperate circumstances are kidnapped and forced into "game" of sorts in which parts of them are taken (though in one these parts are replaced with temporary synthetics, and in the other senses are temporarily taken away). The game lasts for a period of around a week, and the winner/winners gets a prize. While both have significant differences, they're very similar. If you like one you'll probably like the other, too.

Ousama Game

Both manga focus on a high school classroom targeted in a game of death. Alliances are forged and broken, and there are a few individuals who try and stop the madness that's going on by tracing it to the root of the problem. In each the main character is a high school guy who has a love interest and a best friend. There are a few big differences between these two manga. Firstl of all, in Battle Royale the kids are killing each other, while in Ousama Game the King is (though there are times when the classmates chooses who dies). Secondly, Ousama Game is something only the classroom knows about and no one else believes them, while in Battle Royale it's something run by the country which everyone knows about. Thirdly, Ousama Game is supernatural (though I SUPPOSE you could argue that it's not) while Battle Royale is not. Finally, the fourth biggest difference is that Battle Royale focuses in and gives us the pasts of many of the students in the class, whereas Ousama Game focuses on the main characters only.

- Slow romance subplots, and focus mainly on humor - Heavy focus on school gangs and delinquent kids - Main characters are both pretty dense - Focuses on what crazy things happen to the main characters - Mainly school setting - Main male characters both have a clique of delinquents While the two manga have completely different plots and totally opposite main characters, the humor in the manga is very similar. If you enjoy one you'll likely enjoy the other.

Sonna Me de Mitekure

OK so this is going to seem like an extremely weird recommendation, but it's really true. Main difference I should say to start off is that Sonna Me de Mitekure is a BL, but I really don't think that should deter anyone from reading it. There's no gay sex or anything, and it is comedy GOLD. Plot-wise, Ouran and Sonna Me de Mitekure have absolutely nothing in common. What makes these stories similar so that I would recommend them to readers of either manga is the character relationships. Particularly the relationships between Tamaki and Haruhi and Yamato and Haru. Tamaki is basically a blonde Yamato. Both Tamaki and Yamato are extremely fond of their respective Harus, who are both fairly shy scholarship students. The other main aspect of their relationships is this: all of them are idiots when it comes to relationships. The Harus have no idea of their love interest's attraction towards them, and even Yamato and Tamaki don't realize that their feelings of love towards their kouhais is not that of family or friendship, but of a lover. These two manga have very different plots, and Ouran is a lot longer, but if you like the relationship between the Harus and their love interest, then I highly recommend you check out whichever manga you haven't read.

Steins;Gate

The stories are very different, but have some significant similarities. Steins;Gate is a sci-fi, while Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai is supernatural. In both there are various circumstances which all lead to a terrible ending involving death and destruction. There are some significant differences between the two anime, including Higurashi having a lot of gore and Steins;Gate having a romance subplot (granted, Higurashi has one to an extent, though it doesn't lead anywhere). Warning: the following includes Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Higurashi season 1) spoilers In both anime the main character needs to stop the inevitable destruction of the future by going back in time (in Higurashi's case, the timeline and circumstances slightly change each time) and trying to stop what happens.

We've got your harem, your tsundere, your frail girl, your shy girl, your girl that can kick your ass in less than a minute, your misunderstandings, your cliches, your nosebleeds, your main male character who tends to get the crap beat out of him in basically every episode by that gosh darn tsundere chick, and the list just goes on and on. There are quite a few differences between the two series, but there is also a lot they have in common. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.
