This show is a fun show. It is very fun to see all of the events play out for the characters and seeing how they react to one another is amazing. If you came to this show expecting an ecchi romcom you were….half right. This show does not contain any panties or any titillation. But it more than makes up for that by instead showing the viewer what I like to call “emotional fanservice”.
-Tangent-
I believe that there is something called “emotional fan service”. While normal lewd fan service is supposed to stimulate emotions through lewd scenes, I think emotional fan service is supposed to give
...
a sense of fun, accomplishment, or purity. An example of emotional fan service to me would be feel good shows such as ISEKAI SHOKUDOU, or this show Hamefura. These shows have the “oh my god this is so awesome, SQUEEEL” moments which I think is the embodiment of emotional fanservice.
Animation
The show has a lot of good moments and it's made by a fairly respectable studio. The animation looks happy and colorful and it fits the tone of the series like a glove. While it would be nice to have more crisp moments of animation I think the studio did its job perfectly well.
sound
The opening theme is nice and has a bouncy feel to it, but other than that I couldn't really remember that many of the tracks. The soundtrack is perhaps the weakest thing about this show.
Pacing
The pacing for this show is very quick and snappy. It's not too fast to the point that you don't enjoy each moment of the show, but it's definitely not slow. I think the pacing is just right for the show and it makes it very fun for binging. But the show kind of feels like a harem character of the week. Each episode a new character joins and it's not until after the time skip in the show do new characters get introduced at a slower, more organic pace.
Characters
People watch harems because of the characters and this show has some nice ones. I don't want to spoil anything but I have to say that they all have their interesting moments and developments in the show.
Enjoyment
A very fun and enjoyable show that you can binge and relax to. Its very nice. 8/10

Chikan Otoko or more commonly known as Molester Man is a manga that is based off of a series of posts from a person in 2 chan. The story at first might seem cliché from the premise, but later has twists and turns that would be expected from a real life scenario, but unexpected in a story sense. By making the story about real life set in a true story Chikan Otoko manages to surprise me and surpass my expectations for what a romance manga can and should do.
I’ve read this manga twice before. The first time was a couple years ago. The weird
...
thing about the first time for me reading this was that I didn’t even know that this story was based off of posts from 2 chan. But now after rereading it I think that it is essential to know beforehand that this story is heavily based on real life events. After I read it a second time I looked at Chikan Otoko in a new light and truly saw that it was an amazing work.
-----The story and characters
To me a romance manga (or story) is supposed to show relatable drama and a relatable story that the viewer can relate to. This is true for all series all the way from Toradora to even the most lewd stories like High School DxD. Romance stories are supposed to invoke a feeling of relatability. The authors usually tend to do this by having a relatable protagonist that goes through many common situations that a person might find themself in.
The great thing about Chikan Otoko is that it is based on real life events from a person on 2 chan. We can relate to the protagonist because he is very much like a lot of people. He is antisocial and a borderline NEET. If it weren't for him having a job and going to high school he would just spend his entire time playing video games, watching anime, go on 2-chan(japanese 4chan), and heck even masturbate. Molester Man is an extremely relatable protagonist who is not only funny because of his anime references and jokes, but is also down to earth and relatable.
Chikan Otoko is first and foremost a story about an antisocial otaku becoming a “Man”. A person that can be somewhat true to himself and isn't ashamed or worried to be with others. It's about a borderline NEET learning to make friends and to even get himself a girlfriend. It is a story that a bunch of the readers at home could use as a lesson on how to get out of their current antisocial lifestyle. By learning to branch out Molester Man became a lot more confident in himself and eventually gained some amazing friends as a result.
---------The Art
The art in Chikan Otoko is a bit simple. You can tell that this might have been the artist's first or second manga that he has done. The artist probably wanted to get these chapters out as fast as possible while the original posts were still relevant and as a result the manga looks more like a NAME then an actual completed work, which is completely fine for an artist that is probably doing this with no assistants, for no money, and just his passion.
There are no screen tones, but there is shading, and there are only a handful of backgrounds drawn, but despite the rushed nature of the manga I could easily tell what everything was and everything was clear and concise.
-----------Enjoyment and Overall
This manga is special. I enjoyed the passion and love that went into this manga. While it does look dated by today's standards and the fact that you can't get a physical copy is a bit disappointing, I think that this is an amazing read. I am a huge nut for romance manga and anime and Chikan Otoko is one of the best workers that I have read. I related a ton to these characters and having past romance experiences helps a lot with the relatability with this manga. Some of the references and jokes in this manga might go over many peoples heads, while for other people they might understand them all. I loved this manga from beginning to end and that is much better then plenty of other things that I have read.

an 8.5 An amazing show but i do have some problems with it
lets talk about the good.
It actually made me give a shit about running.
the good is that is has an extremely engaging story with many relatable characters. the writer of this story has essentially 10 main characters and most people can relate to at-least 1.
the intro is amazing being sung by a really catchy artist. the intro also has some very good visuals included too which is nice.
For a sports anime its very interesting to watch something on running instead of the basic ones on tennis or whatever.
the animation
...
is also some of the best i have ever seen.
the bad
some of the characters appear as one demential, for instance the twins are a gag that gets bad real fast and there essentially one character, definitely the worst character.
some stories could be more fleshed out
some of the music is used way too often to the point it became annoying, but it still sounds good

This manga WAS good. It HAD potential. it had an interesting premiss that could be entertaining. It was at least entertaining for me. The length was short and sweet. the sexy scenes weren't to obscene with it just having skimpy clothing and pantie shots. but it quickly goes down hill near the second half of the manga. skip down if you want to skip all of the review stuff.
Lets talk about all of the boring stuff to get it out of the way.
The story was fine and was short and sweet. done ill talk about it later.
the art is fine. It had
...
nice background art near the beginning with shots of the messy room. the fan service was nice. but there was an extreme lack of detail in the character designs.
the characters are pretty basic. with a walking talking virgin trope, and a gal trope. not really that special. and the side characters are basically non existent.
i enjoyed this series for the most part. until the mid point.
In the middle of the series from what I heard sales were going low for the manga author, so he tried to end it with a BANG. but feel on his face.
he made it so the main girl has no panties on for the majority of the school day, then gets locked in a locker with the main boy and they basically accidentally make out. unfortunately the student counsel president sees this and starts thinking about the boy.
for some reason there is a borderline, no not even that, basically hentai scene where the student president gets gang raped by a couple of bullies. this happens out of no where.
it could have ben better. rip

Whenever i went to half priced books on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2019, i did not expect to get an anime that would prove to shatter my expectations.
you could say that i had less then stellar expectations of an anime like this. I thought. Oh this anime has not much popularity, and it isn't even ranked that high, how could it possibly be better then some of my favorite anime. well let me tell you how.
i dont want to spoil anything about the story. which is wired for me, because i personally love spoilers, but let me tell you there are a
...
lot of narrative punches in this anime. This is a story about love, friendship, and forgiveness.
The characters are extremely good in this story. The story takes place over an extremely long time period. because of this the character progression feels natural and not forced, and it makes the setting and story more realistic and grounded in realty. Unlike many anime the main protagonist isn't some schoolboy protagonist. The characters have depth and have reasons for what they are doing.
the sound is possibly the most weakest part. there isn't much music in this anime, but the ending 2 theme is absolutely outstanding. in some ways the music reminds me of xenogears because of its gauthic feel.
the art is nice. especially for an animation studio that i never heard of.
tl;dr
This anime is amazing. if you like slower paced shows with amazing characters and a gripping story and setting, then this is the show for you

I found this book in a half price books book store for $5. I thought the cover looked nice so I was like "what the heck lets get it". well it isn't that good of a manga let me tell you that.
the art looks detailed and nice but that is the only decent part about this manga
I don't know if the translation sucks or if the story was originally this bad, but new information pops out of no where and the plot is very unoriginal. Its like they wanted to make a story that was supposed to be 5 volumes, but smashed
...
it into 1 and left out all of the important details.
The characters are kind of boring to say the least.

Koyomimonogatari or for me Kokomo for short is a compilation of short stories that are not necessarily integral to the plot.
For the most part if you really want to you could only watch episodes 11 and 12 as they are the only episodes that are plot heavy and relevant.
the story is fine because most of these episodes are short yet tolerable, the only bad part about the story is the fact that nothing really matters in the grand scheme of things for this plot. while it is nice to see some characters that we as viewers might not have seen much. Im talking
...
about the sisters, and the snail specifically, it does get rather boring some times.
the last two episodes are great and are a treat, though they mostly serve as a cliff hanger for Owarimonogatari 2nd Season
the music is bad. well the only reason why its bad is because they reuse the same music every season.
the characters are fine as usually
the art style hasn't changed much.
if your a fan watch it, but if you just want to get to Owarimonogatari 2nd season then just go too episode 11 and 12 and watch the other episodes later.

this review is on the 2006, and 2009 re run of Haruhi.
This anime took me forever to finish. At first I didn't like it because of its episodic nature, but I soon came to grow attached to it. For me personally I feel as if this anime is extremely over hyped. I use to watch youtubers like Digibro or Gigguk talk about "how this anime is so revolutionary". and you'll be right it is, but i feel like this shows quality especially in the second part dips down.
lets talk about the good. Even though this anime was made in 2006 it still looks
...
amazing to the point that it could possibly rival some anime made in todays era. The music is also amazing and i often find my self listening to the OP's and ED's repeatedly, as well as listening to God Knows. the characters are also pretty enduring and enjoyable for the most bart too, besides some main characters.
the main heroine of the story Haruhi is an extremely stubborn and colorful character that lightens the mood of every episode due to her antics.
Kyon is a cynical person who is really the only normal person.
Yuki is a alien, to bad i hate her character because she is so quiet that i often forget about her. I know that thats the point, but i feel as if they could have used her character a little better.
Mikuri is an amazingly cute character. the voice actor does a perfect job for her character. she often is forced into maid costumes and the such by haruhi.
Itsuki is also not really a good character in my eyes, more often then not I feel as if he is used as a walking talking object that describes whats happening in the plot
Now with the bad.
Most of the episodes have pretty generic premiss such as a school festival, playing a baseball game, or solving a murder case. But, one of if not the worst part of the entire 2 seasons is the infamous endless 8 saga. Endless 8 is one of those ground hog day scenarios, when a character/group of characters repeat a cycle of time. This time it has a twist which is that the characters don't regain there memories. the reason why this is bad is because for literally about 5 episodes straight the characters keep on repeating the same actions each time. The episodes also end in the same way to with the main character forgetting to do his homework and repeating the 2 week cycle.
This is inexcusable.
in the end this show has some good ups and some notable downs. But i do feel like you should watch it, but dont get your hopes up

Thanks Jex for the recommendation.
At the beginning when I first began watching anime I couldn't bare to watch a single episodic show. I always found them as slow and less plot driven then other shows, but as I watched more anime such as Mushishi, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Violet Evergarden I come to appreciate the slow and meditative nature of these shows.
In terms of a comparison between this show and another there is no better example then Mushishi. Both are calming and often serious and they both deal with fantasy elements or entities that effect the world around them. In the
...
case of Mushishi, it was less about the mushishi them selfs, but it was more focused on how the mushishi effected the people. In the case of Natsume the anime is focused on the Youkai and how they effect the main character.
Story 9/10 - i need more tears.
The story is pretty good in this show. I do get kind of board of the modern day Japan setting, but this one was fun because it had less school elements than other shows. The best thing about an episodic shows is the individual stories that each episode tells. Much like Mushishi, Natsume is very good at this.
Art 7/10
Its an old anime, the animation isn't too good, but I like its simplistic style.
Sound 9/10
Im a sucker for piano music.
Characters 9/10
the cat could have ben more developed
Enjoyment 9/10
Never a dull moment, Loved the calmness you feel when watching the show.
Good show worth your time.

This anime is absolutely outstanding. I first started watching this anime when i was on a plain flight in the USA. At first i started this anime because i figured out that it had music from the outstanding Nujabes. but then I also figured out that the anime also was directed by the same person who made Cowboy Bebop, another amazing show that is kind of similar in style. infant I'm going to be comparing these two anime because they are both very similar and popular.
On with the review
Story 9/10-could be be better but otherwise magnificent.
The story unlike cowboy bebop actually has more
...
an overarching plot and goal. when i watched cowboy bebop I originally had it on hold because i just thought that it didn't have enough plot, I soon completed it after this anime. While the show is still very episodic I think it could be comparable to shows like Avatar the Last Airbender. Which isn't an anime, but is still very popular. the main characters are still taking a long journey to there goal, but as they go on the episodic journey, little bits and pieces start to form, until you have your ending and climax.
The show also takes place during the edo period, but more modern, which is a very interesting setting.
Characters 9/10 - very colorful cast of characters, Fuu could have ben better.
The characters are extremely interesting and colorful. the main characters Fuu, Jin, and Mugen represent the present, past, and the future. Because of that there personalities and attitudes are different. Jin's personality is very samurai like, while also having a smart and refined ora representing the period before the edo period in Japan. Mugen's fighting style is more whiled and he is much less refined kind of like the modern day youth.
and Fuu doesn't have a fighting style, probably because the time period that she lives in is a peaceful time period without war. Her personality is laid back, but she does want to get her job done.
While Samurai Champloo might not have as many characters as cowboy bebop, I do feel like this is to there benefit, because having a nice defined smaller cast of characters makes each character have more time to be developed. Its easier to develop 3 characters then 5.
Art 9/10 - old age is a thing would have liked the images at 1080p
The art in samurai champloo is very detailed and outstanding. even for an old show the aesthetic and the style still amaze me. the style also fitts well with the rap/jazz style really well.
Sound 10 - the best thing about the show.
The music in this anime hit it out of the park. Much like Cowboy Bebop this anime is music themed which i appreciate. Love that artsy stuff. Anyway Nujibes, Fat Jon, and a couple other artists worked on this show witch is pretty cool. I cant really describe music so just watch it. its good I'm telling you.
Enjoyment 10 - never a dull moment.
This is one of my favorite anime ever. I always loved every aspect of it. Though there were some flaws none of them were that notable.
9/10- amazing show that you should watch,
