Like Major, Moshidora is a sports anime, but not just baseball. It's about the dramas of life and being a human that struggles to deal with the challenges that life brings. Both animes have very touching moments that send a strong message: it was never about sport. It was about ourselves.

Appleseed (Movie)
|
Both movies have the marvelous mind of the sci-fi guru Shirow Masamune behind it, so you must expect a good storyline (Appleseed's not a masterpiece as GITS, but it's interesting anyway). The animation is awesome too, and the action scenes will keep your eyes on the screen until the very end. If you're a sci-fi fan, both movies are a good shot.

Both animes have non-electronic mechas on the spotlight, but Escaflowne has a well build and deep story. Sakura Wars is so short that you almost can't have a opinion about it, but at least it'll keep you entertained for more than two hours with some mecha action.

Both Clannad and Ano Hana are good dramas featuring the development of friendship and a bit of supernatural events. The main difference between thoso two is that Clannad has a lot more of funny scenes and jokes, while Ano Hana is on the cute side and deeply focused on its long drama. If you want a soft drama, Clannad is your call. But if you really want the tears to flow, Ano Hana is the choice. They are two sides of the same coin.

No use to run from it: Nanatsuiro Drops is a worse version of Card Captor Sakura. The ND story is heartwarming and cute? Yes. Is it well developed? Not at all. If you want to watch some romance featuring a magical girl, give Nanatsuiro a shot, but CCS is WAAAAAAAAAY better on all aspects.

Both Bubblegum Crisis OVA and LOTGH: My Conquest is the Sea Of Stars are not required to watch the sequels (BGC Tokyo 2040 and LOTGH OVA Series), but they help you to understand better the storylines. In case of Legend... it's even better just because the anime turns to be more enjoyable if you gather all info possible upfront.

Good dramas with very touching endings.

Both sci-fi animes have very deep stories and makes you think very hard to understand its development. Lain is more focused on drama, but share the futuristic scenario. The character developments on the two series are awesome!

If you like stories about parallel worlds/realities like the ones in Noein, so you must try Dual! too. We can't compare the two storylines at all because Dual! is a comedy series, but it's highly recommended to relax a little after the intensity of Noein. A good point in my opinion are the mechas on Dual!, they're cool! In short, both animes have the same theme (parallel realities), but with a totally different development and outcome.

Most users will blame me to compare the masterpiece Akira to Denno Coil, but actually they are similar in some points. Both storylines are focused in young characters (teenagers Tetsuo/Kaneda in Akira; kids Yasako/Isako in Denno Coil) that have a very unusual behavior in their society. They are "rebels", yougsters that goes against the rules of society to acquire more knowledge about a phenomenon (Akira in Akira; Illegals in Denno Coil) and in both animes they surpass a lot of obstacles to decipher the mysteries hidden in their world. Another highlight on these animes is the drama: The mix of love/jealousy/betrayal/friendship that develops between the characters is well-build and fascinating. Well, enough babbling and watch Denno Coil and Akira, two great sci-fi anime!

Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat

If you like animes with charismatic characters, funny silly jokes and a pretty simple storyline, try Card Captor Sakura. When i say simple, don't read it in a depreciative way. It's just obvious that the story of CCS and Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat are not too complex when compared to Ghost In The Shell, but it's easy to understand what is the intention of the anime in the first episodes. Anyway, Card Captor Sakura is one of the CLAMP Studios masterpieces, and surely will leave you light-hearted and happy. Just an advice: Don't expect to find lots of gags in CCS like the ones in Panyo Panyo. Kinomoto Sakura and her friends are funny, but in a different style. Feel the cuteness!

Ghost In The Shell and RahXephon are similar because both are masterpieces of sci-fi genre, and the mangás storylines are strongly different from their respective anime versions. I read the Ghost In The Shell mangá after watching the anime, and the characters are a lot different. Motoko and Batou telling jokes, a energetic Aramaki, and a more dense history turns this mangá in a must-read for the sci-fi fans. Just as dense as the RahXephon mangá, and both titles have cool action scenes. Try it out!
